I was at my sister's wedding Saturday night - her best friend's husband is a Leafs fan, and he came up to me during Cocktail Hour to tell me they were in the midst of blowing a 7-2 lead. I could not stop laughing. I said yeah, that sounds about right, can't wait for THAT LFR 😂
That Islanders goal was an actual goal, in my opinion. Can see that flash of white. I'm puzzled that they didn't slow it down more and to get a conclusive decision.

In my opinion, that one where Lee 'pulled the puck out' should have been a goal for the Isles. It looks like it completely crossed the line during one of its pirouettes, and to me that's more dang-it for Aho than his teammate swatting it away. That last one with the Islanders is hilarious - but those Kings' helmets are still a bigger Dang-It.
The Kings saw the gold helmets that the Vegas Golden Knights sometimes wear and thought "hey. You know what's more ridiculous than gold helmets? Silver helmets."
Now all we need are some copper helmets, but not many teams have worn copper in the NHL throughout its history (the 2000s Oilers are probably the only active team with copper on their jerseys).
No it didn't cross all of the way. It was 98% over at the most, but not 100% over. The red line is slightly faded due to the ice being scratched up do its not 100% solid but if it was like earlier in the period and the ice is fresh there, you will see it isn't in.

The craziest thing about this video was that during the Carolina Columbus game, that dang it resulted in the shot totals being 39-9 in the third

I think that Anders Lee one was in for a split second actually... Might just be my phone screen... But I think I saw white between the puck and the line when they went to the under the net cam

I don't think the line is straight, or it's wider to a foot out from the left post, but it looked good on the right side of the puck.
Thank god I’m not the only one, for one frame it’s clearly over the line right before the stick makes contact.

The NHL really should officially recognize the concept of the "own goal". A centre who never even touched the puck getting credit for a goal is not a thing that should be possible, no matter how badly the opposing team screws up.
That would be really funky to try to implement into a league with as many deflection goals as the nhl
@@blindidiot382If it were my call, I'd still give offensive players credit for scoring deflection and ricochet type goals that carom into the net off sticks, skates or bodies. The "own goal" label would only be used where a defensive player shoots, passes or otherwise directs the puck and it winds up in the goal without any offensive player touching it. Examples of own goals would be Steve Smith (Edm vs Cal, 4/30/86), Dan Boyle (SJ vs Col, 4/18/10) or Marc Bergevin (STL vs SJ 2000 playoffs Game 2) throwing the puck into his own net.
@@gordonwhitney6052 I suppose thats one way to do it. Personally, I like the way it is right now. Sure, players get goals they might not have worked for occasionally, but its funny and I dont think it happens often enough to be a problem. It would be cool as a separate stat, though. I would be incredibly interested to know who had the most own-goals, for example.

With the non-goal call on Keumper, people complaining they see white between the red line and the puck but the puck was on an angle and technically didn't fully cross the red line from viewing straight down. Doesn't get any closer than this and his own teammate denied the goal
it looked to be within millimeters, but yeah, top down is the only angle you can totally trust.

Okay hot take here, I think the leafs 10-7 win over the red wings was not as ridiculous as people are saying it is from the leafs. We know they have bad D and bad goaltending but an amazing forward group, I am surprised they don't win more absolute barn burgers like that and the order the goals were scored in is given more significance than it should be given that context.

I don't agree with your complaints against the call on the ice being the tiebreaker. I would argue that overturning the call in the Isles vs Avs game was wrong if done based on the overhead, because between the frame where it's 99% across and the frame where Lee hits the puck, it can be argued in good faith that the puck could conceivably have completely crossed the goal line. The only people who aren't limited by this are those who are paid to be making the call and are standing in the immediate vicinity. Instant replay does a lot for us, but it isn't the end all be all for finding the right calls.
