Great video, glad to see the evolution of an Army Recruiter from when I was a Recruiter. I myself was an Army Recruiter from 89 to 92 achieving my Gold Badge with 3 Sapphires during my tour. Yes, it was both stressful and rewarding at the same time that's why we nick named our Recruiting badge the pressure plate back in the day. One of my most satisfying moments was when I had the opportunity to put in not 1 but 2 applicants into the WOFT program in the same month. In closing shout out to you and what you are doing keep up the good work. Also, if you ever want to give your viewers a perspective on what it was like recruiting back in the late 80's. I would be happy to share my stories with your viewers. Thanks
This is the most informative video on being an Army Recruiter that I've seen. Thank you for being so articulate and painting a clear picture on what the job entails. I do have a question though. How much downtime or time to workout do you typically get while at recruiting school?
I truly appreciate that!! Thank you for supporting the channel! At recruiting school in my opinion you have a lot of downtime so plenty of time to workout. I doubt you’d get out of class after 1700 every day, weekends you get off if I’m not mistaken. There might be times you have homework or have to study but not so much where you can’t hit the gym 💪🏾
I’m getting stationed at where I joined 7 years ago. I volunteered and they gave me the duty station I wanted! Pretty excited to go back home and work, but nervous at the same time because recruiting has changed over the years.
Recruiter in the early 90s for the Army the school was still at Ft Ben Harrison Indiana, get ready for threats long hours punk kids angry parents and long hours calling the same numbers off a lead refinement list LRL even though the kid has said no a dozen times , another secret they dont tell you is most instructors at the school are failed recruiters or ones who had relationships with DEPS that battalions got rid of ,I hope its changed but talking to recruiters at outdoor events today it sucks just as bad
Ohh man sounds like recruiting was something else in the 90s. Thank you for your service && yes it’s changed drastically since then ,Hopefully for the better😂! But of course still has its challenges
Converted to the dark side of the force. I was in the recruiting command as a recruiter, station commander, guidance counselor qualified and also a BN master trainer for a total of 14 years. It definitely has its ups and downs but I absolutely loved it and miss it. If there is anything I can provide I will be more than happy to assist with any questions.
Ohh man so you know this recruiting world inside and out lol that’s awesome ! My career path might end up looking very similar when it’s all said and done 😂! Appreciate this wholesome comment and thank you for your service!
I joined the Army in Okinawa Japan (switched from Marines). Is getting oconus a possibility? If i can volunteer and get my choice I'd love to go back to Japan. I'd sign today if that was a possibility.
I used to be a National Guard recruiter. I used to get angry at regular Army recruiters for the lies they would tell applicants about the guard such as the guard is only state funded and that the national guard state tuition programs are poorly funded. Please don’t be that recruiter. That’s all I ask.
And I’m sure regular army recruiters used to get mad the NG recruiters acting like going active is so easy after training when in reality it’s very much not.
In my opinion I think they work with you to some degree if you’re DA Select. I was DA select and got my top choice so I can’t really say anything bad. However I recommend you writing a comment on your assignment map stating why you’d like to go to where you chose as your top option. They read those comments usually
So as soon as I got my P status for my E6 I got selected for ARC. So is it possible to attend ALC or other army skill schools while on recruiting duty or is it harder to get those schools?
I've been airborne for a little over a year. If I volunteer for a recruiter before my 3 year mark, will I lose my airborne wings? Or is it put on pause ( if I'm stating that correctly)
You wont lose anything, I guess things are the same now as they were in the 80s ,guys used recruiter school or DS school to escape the 82nd at Bragg , they just jump you or deploy you until you were either a drunk or your body failed go drill sergeant, recruiter duty sucks
Got DA selected as a non promotable e5. I’m super happy about it. Can’t wait to go. Report in august for school. Can they turn me down? Only have 2 ncoers, not 3. No article 15s, not married, no kids.
For me it was a great decision. Recruiting is fun if you make it is a big difference from drill sergeant life lol you’d be rocking badges on both sides though which is pretty high speed !
I was just offered a recruiting job in the guard after 2 years National guard and 2 years reserve. I’ve been out of the military for a year or so how is the schedule on full time orders. Do you have kids? Would you say there is a good work life balance?
It’s nice on full time orders. You do work a lot and it can get busy at times however the job does offer a good work life balance! You get plenty time off and you’re able to go home and see your family and do the things you enjoy
Just got my volunteer packet accepted. Question: If someone reclasses to 79R, would they be expected to pcs every few years like one does in the regular Army?
Yes for me it was definitely worth it but it depends on you and your interests. Some people will not convert even if you pay them 20,000 dollars 😂 but it was worth it for me

Did they pick you?

What is it like in florida for recruiting? Husband is thinking of volunteering beqcysw of the new police
Do they work with you on your assignment if your DA select? Just submitted my assignment map and hoping to get my top 3.

@@simbaalexander what extra incentives do you receive as a recruiter?

You’ll most likely go to ALC very quickly while on recruiting duty so you can pick up your E6
I've been airborne for a little over a year. If I volunteer for a recruiter before my 3 year mark, will I lose my airborne wings? Or is it put on pause ( if I'm stating that correctly)
Good question I’m not sure the exact answer for that but I doubt you’d lose your wings. That doesn’t seem likely to me

Going to the promotion board for SSG later this month my end goal is to drop a recruiting packet
Congratulations! I hope you pass with flying colors! Recruiting is not a bad life at all. I hope everything works out for you battle

No you should be good to go. Welcome to the recruiting world !
@@simbaalexander I hope so. And I got my p status now, but don’t have an ALC date. Will my recruiting station send me to ALC fast?
@@mvend10did they send you fast?
@@audionews8659 they didn’t have to send me. My previous unit sent me to the board and got an alc date immediately after I passed the board.

After my 3 year commitment, can I do another 3 years and at the same duty station?
As a recruiter it is possible. Or you can possibly be moved to another station within your company
About how long does it take for HRC to review volunteer recruiting packets?
Depends but for some around 2-4 weeks
Just got my volunteer packet accepted.
Question: If someone reclasses to 79R, would they be expected to pcs every few years like one does in the regular Army?
Congrats & welcome to the recruiting world! yes pcs cycles still are a thing on recruiting for 79r. Usually every 3 years

how can we lock in a BN we want?
You’ll get the chance if you volunteer to be a recruiter to choose from a wish list when you’re at the recruiting schoolhouse
I want to do it
