I love that concept that you need shadows on your face. I've noticed that the rare times when I wear concealer (i don't take it up till the lashline just like you have suggested), my eyes end up looking smaller. And because i have prominent eyes, i actually prefer the hyperpigmentation around my eyes because it gives me a natural smokey eye look and makes my eyes look more deep set. I really got to thank you for these tips and tricks that change our game!
Violette and Lisa Eldridge created THE most perfect highlighting/illuminating products around the same time, and they were a total game changer. The only other product I enjoy almost as much right now for creating a glow is the Tower 28 SuperDew shimmer-free highlight balm (if I don't want the shimmer during the day)r. It's a very natural yet effective dewy product - really impressed. These three have completely changed my routine/makeup look.
Absolutely beautiful and wearable, realistic for the every day woman out there! I love your technique and style and the way you bring artistry into make up from a non-cosmetic perspective. You’re highlighting technique of just dabbing a little bit over only the highest point is brilliant. Not all over up and down the side of the face like you see everywhere. Your sweater is really neat and such a beautiful color! But, I would say it’s a fishnet trap for holding babies or toddlers LOL that could be fun!
Kosas’s concealer is exactly what you describe! It has this amazing consistency and effect that I feel like I can manipulate like a brush stroke-that smooth and seamless ability to “stretch” you described. Thanks for the great content as always!
Hi Violette! Love your videos and everything you stand for. You're such an inspiration. Could you show us your favorite drugstore products? I want to feel luxurious but I'm a broke college student haha. Much love xx
Love the colors! It's easy to become aesthetically uninspired and dull during these late-winter months, so all help and external inspiration is greatly appreciated 😄 Thank you!
I love your videos! I always feel like I learn so much. Re: concealers, the best I have used is the Clarins concealer, but I'm talking about the old one as they've just brought out a new replacement. I haven't tried it yet and it might be fab, but my heart is a little bit broken that I may have just lost my favorite formula 💕
It’s so helpful the way you explain how placement of products work and the way you think using your art background. I have a very similar shaped face to you and drier skin so everything you said made total sense to me! Thanks!
Hi Violette! I love your videos and I think you inspire so many of us to embrace our unique beauty. your looks always seem easy to recreate. thank you xoxo
So interesting the way you talk about your art background and how it influences your makeup. Really changed the way I think about how I apply my concealer and blush! Also you mentioned you are working on a blush??! Can't wait!
Amazing Cosmetics concealer is the best. I keep it in my kit. You use the SMALLEST amount and then it covers everything. It’s so fun to play with the coverage. Honestly, it’s my favorite in the world.
It would be nice to have a technique video on the blush-flush. I am a bit intimidated by blushes, but the way you apply it looks soooo good. 😍 I hope we can expect that kind of a video as part of the new product release. ☺
I didn't have dry skin issues at all this winter when I started using the ceramidin toner, a night serum + lotion before bed. In the mornings I cleaned my face by using a wet cotton pad to remove excess sweat or oil, then applied my morning serum, lotion and spf. Also, never forgot to use shea butter cream for my lips. The most important thing was not washing my face more than once a day, and making sure to use a serum at night. However, the rest of my body and my hands was super dry and cracked because I was just too lazy to moisturize when I was in sweats all winter! Love this video
Love love love your videos! I learn so much and I agree with your more natural application of makeup. We do need some shadows on your face! What brush were you using to apply concealer?
I have dehydrated skin, especially in winter time... My dream concealer is CLINIQUE Beyond Perfecting Super Concealer ... The formula is super fluid and it blends well without using foundation.. what I like the most is that doesn't create texture 💗 .. I usually don't use that brand so it took me a long time to find this concealer .. am happy now ...
Surprisingly, flower beauty concealer is very very good! Good mix of opacity and very moisturizing . Not to mention it’s a clean brand. I find you have to mix 2 colors to get a good color match. Worth a try! -Lisa
I am loving pretty much everything I have tried in Flower beauty range!! The lip mask/ balm that is available in like 5 or 6 different tints is amazing!! I have them all over my house and car and office, they are often on sale at my local pharmacy and so I will grab a bunch then as it is a bargain. Highly recommend. ( Also like the concealer but love her brow products )
The way you talked about not erasing the shadows and features of our face was great. Cause these days, I just see people on social media completing covering their face with makeup and covering their features and look like CGI characters.
Have you tried the Jones Rd Face Pencils? They feel like they fuse with skin and I use them as concealers. I have quite dry skin, so my skin is always well prepped with moisture anyway, and these glide on and blend really well 👍🏻
Hi Violette, just read your newsletter last night about love and finding new love letting go of baggage. I actually wanted to comment on your previous video requesting you to tell us more about your love. This is because I'm currently going through a separation from my marriage and it's really tough letting go of my identity which I've known for so many years and feeling hopeless that I might never find a good love again. Even though the marriage I'm in is very difficult as how you described your previous relationship before you met your husband. Thank you for sharing the newsletter it came at a great time and I'd love to hear more about your experience.
Hello Violette! very nice make up ! have you ever tried the concealer from dolce & gabbana, it's really great, from what you say, it should suit you. I also really like adding at the end boom boom milk but I would love to have a finer and more diffused spray, it would be really cool if we could choose a "dynamic" or "gentle" spray option ?
Try maybelline rewind concealer! It's the most unusual yet effective formula! It's almost like a liquid-foam that covers and stretches so easily- especially if you let it sit for maybe 10 seconds before you tap it in (I only use fingers). The coverage is really great (I have a lot of darkness in the under-eye area) and yet its formula is probably the most lightweight concealer I've come across. holy grail product for sure!
I usually take my concealer only as far as the deepest part of my shadows… I usually have deep under eye circles. I learned that it’s not necessary to pull it to close to the lash line. ( I used to push it right under my lash line with a tiny brush …. Would not serve justice to my deep set eyes , I can remember my Senior picture , how tiny it would make my eyes look . ) Nowadays I just take it easy on my skin , I use a foundation still , but only a medium coverage so I don’t look like my 1980’s alter ego . I love the fresh approach to the skin .
Your makeup was gorgeous as was your sweater. I looked it up while watching thinking I might have to splurge but sadly way out of even my splurge budget. But gorgeous.
I love your content! I find your minimalistic approach to beauty so inspiring. I like when your camera person asks occasional questions but she went off topic too much -- I'd rather hear more of your voice lol
Have you tried the Sisley concealer? It’s expensive but it UH-mazing! It’s thin and creamy formula, doesn’t crease in my fine lines and it had such a natural finish. Unless you want a matt concealer, then it’s not for you
If you have textured skin from teenage acne along with hyperpigmentation, how do successfully use just concealer for more of a bare skin look but still cover up your uneven skin tone?
maybe you could try the concealer from the french brand typology. to me, it's exactly as you described what you're looking for in a concealer. the only downside is not a wide range of shades (but they can be mixed).
@@violettefr Merci! Also thank you for creating Boum Boum! It has transformed my skin. I've tried it ALL. So excited for your barrier cream launch. I know it will be amazing!

I just ordered your Boum Boum milk and I can’t wait to try it! Also thank you for the advice about the powder, I also have dry skin and so the advice was very much appreciated!!!
I’m pretty sure she’s using the Westman Atelier one, she’s recommended it before in other videos, though I have yet to try it myself. I highly recommend the new Rare beauty mascara if you haven’t given it a shot, I like dramatic lashes, but have oily lids that make everything smudge terribly, and tubing mascaras give me no oomph with my straight lashes, yet I have had no issues with that one and love the dramatic lashes it gives me - just a suggestion!
