At a time when so many like her with unique short coily hair tried/try to straighten and lengthen it by any means available to look like someone they are not, she worked with what she was gifted--beautiful skin and hair--and used both in a stereotype-defying way. She was no slave to the stereotypic rhythm.

The production on this is staggering. Its such a weird and interesting sounding record. That beat is slightly out yet it works. Nothing conventional about this at all. And provably why on a Saturday night in 2020 I'm watching videos of music nearly 40 years ago. And it still sounds incredible.

Actually, Lady Gaga ripped off Dale Bozzio. But the majesty of Grace Jones still stands...she's like a cross between Bowie and Bambaataa, or what if Queen Nefertiti was a pop singer. Came here after listening to 'Nipple to the Bottle', such strong lyrics.

Gaga is all hype/no talent or style.. she tries so hard it's just embarrassing.
Grace Jones, on the other hand,is just a natural - she exudes style and powerful sex appeal and has produced timeless music.

What’s the point of comparing two artists? Ok they both performing but they have different way, style and subjects to express, they’re both great and people appreciated them for their talent and their impact, besides Lady Gaga never said anything bad about other artists, but she is giving her everything on stage and people enjoying it, music is not competition, it’s enjoy and living the moment. (P.S. Lady Gaga doesn’t need to prove her talent, her awards, Grammys and oscars talks for her, 40 years later we are going to watch her videos and lives saying “music nowadays are nothing like 2010’s”

Kevin Southam Perennial pertains to, continuous or reoccurring often regarding plants.. Penultimate means, 2nd to last. You're both wrong.

There's a remix of her song by an artist named Petra and THAT'S the song that I know of. I didn't know that this song existed until now when I saw what I believed was a fake shirt on Amazon. It had the name of the song and Grace's picture.

Her original version of this song was first out in the summer of 1981 here in the UK,nearly a year after breaking the top 20 with her version of Private Life and I'm pretty sure not long after that infamous Russell Harty interview. The remixed version of this song became a bigger hit here in early 1986,the year after she appeared in the James Bond film A View to a Kill and had another hit with Slave to the Rhythm.

Most people are very afraid of those rare members of the species possessing both the brains and the guts to be themselves and not give a single f*ck about what any of those other people might think about it. Ridiculous? Yes. Dangerously dumb and deeply stupid, in fact. But quite common, sadly enough.
