As a bit of a horology aficionado, this was extremely satisfying to see. If you end making some sort of homemade spring drive regulator for it as well, then you achieved the ultimate flex. You didn’t… right?? Cheers 😄
Shut up and take my money, Sell it please I don't like 20k watches because it's small and useless but this is the kind of piece of art I want on display at my home, useful, beautiful and mesmerizing to watch!
@@multiarray2320 Just considering that it's a product from a RUclipsr alone, probably an arm & a leg or more. And don't forget international shipping fee that costs half of the product's price.
If you make a design for plastic parts and selling as a kit (so do buyers have to put it together) it could be mass-produced. That would drive down the cost. Maybe they already do this I didn't check.
If it were me, I’d use an optical pickup to make sure the seconds wheel was being indexed correctly :) who knows if/how he ensures sync - good question though!
@@RUclipsOfficialReviewerAccount if you look at the seconds input wheel, it moves a certain amount every second. It isn’t moving continuously. Darci was asking how that gear stayed correctly clocked - if it was out by a few degrees, then the first digit display could be stuck between displaying a 1 and a 2.
Why didn't people come up with this idea before, like, a hundred years ago?? Why use those hard to read analog clocks or digital clocks with halfway-moving rotating disks, when you can have THIS? Amazing job!
I've seen your other video of the single mechanical 7 segment display and liked it, I'm glad RUclips recommended this video to me, and I really... really.... really want it on my desk, preferrably with some form of microcontroller to sync the time automatically if it's turned off, as this thing is really fun to watch, although I'd like it to be quieter, especially when it rolls over from 59 or 24 to 00. tl;dr: I want it, so how can I build this, and how can I automatically control it with a microcontroller
are there design files available for this, i would love to try my hand at making it with something like copper and aluminum for a steampunk kind of vibe
Because of the 12-hour control system in previous works, we decided to use a 24-hour system for this work. From a control point of view, the 24-hour system is more challenging.
I would call it a mechanical digital clock. Love it.
COOLO NAME
People keep liking this comment which makes me check this video out again and again I love it just as much every time!
i would call it a segment clock.
@@IAteAnAK47 With that name I would be clear what it means, as most digital clocks use 7 segment displays.

Church bells ringed when that clock passed midnight, I realized it's also midnight irl. Nice.
Wow, I have never seen a mechanical retro clock which anyone implemented the "seconds" timer. Nice.
This is super cool!
That has to be the slickest clock I've ever seen.
This is intensely satisfying!!
This is amazing, good job

I could watch this all day
Meraviglioso!
That is awesome!
Very Nice! :)
Does it ever get out of sync by turning slightly too far such that it’s between two valid digits
If it were me, I’d use an optical pickup to make sure the seconds wheel was being indexed correctly :) who knows if/how he ensures sync - good question though!
Well I think like a normal mechanical clock all the panels are connected via gears so I don’t think it’s physically possible to be out of sync

Clever and interesting
this is super cool
Creative video, thank you :)
SO COOL!
Brilliant!
pretty cool
You should paint the bottom side of the middle line segment black so that it disappears more when turned up.

I worry about the durability and wear of this device, but it gorgeous and inspiring.

I bet techmoan would love this.
Oh he would.
But it might need assembly.
This is amazing. Can I buy it?
I want this!!! Where can I get the plans to build one, or buy one?
what are the internals made of? how do you reduce rapid wear?
I think the internals are made of wood.
Normaly you wax wood because you can't oil it.
I kinda really want one now

Perfect
ohhh I Love it

I would love to 3d print this sometime
This would be a perfect 3d print project!
does motor rotate continuously?
i’d buy it

Probably not. They would just be taken by some unscrupulous people with a 3D printer who then sell them on the internet.

absolutely, just as pendulum-weight clocks exist.

Sorry, this work is a prototype and we are not selling it or releasing blueprints.
Very nice piece. My only fear is that the wear and tear will be very high. It will probably need repair every day if its working continuously
Not a requirement, subject to design.
I'll take your entire stock.
