Hey Jared! Love the advice. Something interesting that you brought up, which I had thought about before, is the effect that a tech’s actions can have on students. My techs almost never put in ear protection and, in return, I find that most of my section and I have stopped as well (though, I will try to be more thoughtful about that). Also, if you don’t mind, I had a question about quad drumming: I have a lot of trouble with playing zones (especially in exercises like SCV stick control and Pulse eights, when going across multiple drums with one hand); do you have any advice for fixing that problem? Also, one more question I had was: how would you go about adding rounds to your technique exercises? Is there any way to incorporate tenor rounds myself without them explicitly being written out? Thank you for all of your content, by the way; it has all been really helpful and has opened my eyes to a lot of stuff I wouldn’t have known about drumming until now.

I can demonstrate that in tomorrow morning's practice stream, but when you say tenor rounds, do you mean alternating legato strokes, one hand, arounds with diddles, etc.? Glad to hear the tips in this video resonated with you in some way! I know waaayyyy too many musicians who are older now and deeply regret not using earplugs; for example: www.reddit.com/r/drumline/comments/1eglwpj/upsetting_lack_of_ear_protection/

@@JaredOLearyThank you! By tenor rounds, I mainly mean, what would be the simplest way to add alternating and one-hand rounds to an exercise that doesn’t have any. For example: adding rounds to your rudiment builders or advanced stick control. Also, any advice you have for maintaining zones (especially when going across multiple drums with one hand) would be greatly appreciated! And yes, I have heard many stories from teachers of mine that have suffered the consequences of not wearing earplugs and it has shocked me that my current techs do not encourage the use of them.

@@Internetindividual07 Excellent questions. I think I answered them all in this morning's stream, but I may have missed one because there were a lot of questions in the chats this morning. Checkout the timestamps, but the playing zones was a little before the 25 minute mark, followed by a discussion on coming up with splits, and then I talk about rudiment builder splits a little after the hour mark. Here's the link to the stream: ruclips.net/user/livezPYCtODDtb8?si=bQqPIRefIs2JC3dy
