- As arranged and recorded by Emerson, Lake, & Palmer in 1973. This song originated as a poem written by William Blake and later became a hymn with music composed by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. ELP made their own arrangement and included it on their 4th album called "Brain Salad Surgery"
Featured in this video are the great talents of my good friends and musical partners from EMP:
Graham Seaman - Vocal (Liverpool, UK)
David Presley - Keyboards (Cape Coral, Florida, USA)
Mark Estes - Bass Guitar (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA)
Mark DeGregory - Drums & Percussion (W. Trenton, New Jersey, USA)
Being involved in the video production was a great pleasure for me as I thoroughly enjoy watching these guys play. I think you will enjoy them, too.
Well done, keeping ELP alive and well. RIP Keith and Greg
Such commitment, dedication and loving attention to detail.
Beatiful. Perfeccionista.
RIP Keith and Greg

Evening Jim... footie doesn't trouble me as I'm into motorsports instead! Glad you enjoyed our version of the 'preferred English national anthem!' though - kudos too to Larry for a great job on video production (as per usual!). Take care matey - G.
Bloody hell guys! WELL DONE! amazing! Only 4 thousand odd views? should be 4 million! Bloody amazing!!!!!
Great! from Japan.
Quite a production. Very talented artists. Thanks.
Great!!!!!
Very similar to original record.
Great individual performances!!!
WOW guys! I'm impressed. As Sym Systems said I've not heard anyone capture ELP's power as well as you guys did. Major kudos! BTW< I'm 50 and it was Palmer (specifically TANK ) which inspired me to pick up a pair of sticks and get to work on the drums.
I was very ill -- mortally so - in December 2005 when this song came on my I-tunes shuffle and I could not get enough energy in my voice to raise it. That's when I knew I was sick and allowed myself to be taken to the hospital -- in tears.
It still gets me every time.
OH MY !! Hauntingly Beautifull !!
This is what the internet is all about this is Music involved but if we could transfer this to all aspects of life the world would be a much better place
Your cover version is very good and brings joy!

As a huge ELP fan from the old days (I'm 52) , that the finests cover I've heard of that song. Stellar work!
Hi Mark! There is no guitar track in ELP's arrangement and we decided to stay true to that. Since there was really nothing I could add musically that would make this any better, I was quite happy to sit out and handle the video production of this really great tune. I am very proud to be affiliated with EMP in whatever capacity I can contribute. We are very happy that you've enjoyed this. Keep Rawkin, Mark!
LC
as a guitar player ,, i would feel kinda dwarfed by the keyboard player in an ELP cover band, even if i was steve via, that just takes some doin to play like that
awesome work
Very good cover!!!
ExcellenT!
Alan. I have been an admirer of Greg's musical output since I was 14, and I am lucky enough to still have a voice which is capable of singing a range which Greg himself did during his earlier years. As Larry says, we do this because we can. It is indeed a labour of love for us. We have grown up with this music and are thrilled at the thought of being able to play it to such a high standard. For myself, I am also content to know that some of my heroes are also aware of the music. Cheers - G.
Thats true. A guitar wouldn't fit into this piece. Let it be known that LC had as much of a part in this as we did...providing guidance on the interim mixes, providing ideas and coordinating the video. This piece is as much his as it is ours.
Thank you for all the great comments.
MarkE (bass)
Great!!!
awesome job
I only have to say that it is GREAT. Wouldnt be a group of jerks to adventure themselves to cover ELP. So, Congrates, guys!
WOW... GREAT JOB ...U can tell u dont just hear ELP u feel it...
Super!!
HAHA! Thats the spirit! Way to go!
Have no fear, folks - there was simply no guitar used in the original, so Larry graciously took the lead on the video has his creative outlet. But there's more in the pipeline where he'll be wailing-away... consider 'Jerusalem' the exception, not the norm.
Happy New Year, everybody!
David (the keyboard-dude :)
I like your term member!!
It is great from japan.
I have Hammond organ,too.
my name is SUZUKI.
Great!
LOL ok I won't tell him. If you happen to ever see a handbill for a band called Noddy's Puncture, they are an ELP tribute band in which Graham plays guitar/bass and sings. They are very good and I think you'd enjoy tossing back a pint or two while watching them work. :D
FANTASTIC!!!!! Thanks for the music!
Greetings from Argentina!
Brilliant guys! There are some tears in my eyes! God bless you all! 5/5!!!
Bravi👏👏👏🎹🎹👍👍😊😊
very impressive;) like the original! five star :)!
I saw this tour live in 1974. This sounds great !
Muito bom! A melhor interpretação que já vi, ótimo recursos tecnológicos e músicos de altíssima competência!
Love, love, loved it!!!!
Molto bravi !!! Peccato che questo video non è ben pubblicizzato da RUclips ! Very good !!! Too bad this video is not well advertised by RUclips!
BRAVO grew up with ELP ! Great cover
Really well done. i stumbled on you when I was looking at Beatles Tube. I also am an old musician at least getting old and dream to play the kind of music you are playing. Great job I will continue to listen.
Hi Beach... sorry, but the necklace was an official bit of memorabilia from the UK tour of 1974 - purchased at the Liverpool Empire, England. I only take it out on special occasions such as this video. Cheers - G.
muito bom parabens quase o riginal fico muito feliz curtir
What a great collab guys!!! Just lovely! Wishing all of you a wonderful Holiday:) *****
Like it a lot!
This is one of my favs of ELP and I play it with my band as well.
At least it´s good to see that me and my mates are not on a lonesome island.
*applause*
almost perfect reproduction + much love
bravo!
cool!!!
Best cover I've heard. Bravo!
"Somebody said mattress to Mr. Lambert!! Twice!!"
great cover guys
OMG extraordinary !!!!!!!!
Not stealing LC's thunder, but I can respond - protocol varies by song... since this one was very true to the original we used it as a template to play against (on others we'll deviate with a click-track).
We each record digitally and upload WAV files to either Mark or Graham (both act as producers, again depending on job/song assignment) - who are using software to integrate, synch, and integrate everything.
Only downside is that purely original stuff is difficult to do like this.
awesome amazing. where were you larry?
peace and love from new york,
mark
Guys you're awesome!) But it's pity that there was no your lead-guitar, after Sweet Child 'o Mine I became your fan)
bravissimi!

@awilensky To answer your question...because we can. Yes this IS a labor of love...utmost love and respect for Emerson Lake and Palmer's works. Thank you for your glowing comments.
NICE
Was this recreation a labor of love? I ask, because there has never before been a credible cover of the song in ELP style using almost identical synth patches and the various touches that were added to make the the track almost perfect.
Seeing as Greg Lake was 26 or so at the time, with correspondingly youthful vocal cords, the vocalist here, no spring chicken he, carries it off not just in phrasing but almost totally faithful to Lake's timbre and tonality. Well done but again....why?
OUTSTANDING!! A great cover,...no, tribute to ELP!
