The singer . . . the drummer . . . the synthesizer player. . . the bass player . . . and Rachel playing both: the guitar and the keyboards . . . all are GODS!!!
I’m stunned, who would have thought that 50 years ago later, we would all come together and genuflect at ELP’s brilliance. Ms Flowers & your virtual band, I take my Fedora hat off to you and give you my sincerest thanks for such a wonderful performance.
Karn Evil 9 was so far ahead of its time and your cover does the most justice to the original that I've ever heard! Excellent musicianship and vocals all around!
Arguably one of the greatest note for note, spot-on covers I have ever heard for ANY genre. Listened to this song as a15 year old over and over and over, and now listen to this almost every day. I am 56 now. Thank you for this. I love Rush, Yes, and many others, but this to me is THE all-time anthem of progressive rock.
Not only does it not suck, it's the best cover I have ever heard of any band. I've heard many mediocre covers of Zep, Yes, and others, but when it comes to ELP, those cover bands can't handle it. Thank God for these musicians and may all be blessed !
Rachel totally blows me away with her passion and talent. What an inspiration to all that want to be musicians. I did not know that she played guitar! Wow!
You ought to see her with Dweezle Zappa... It's jaw dropping.. (and she sings on that one too, while playing giitar..)... Frank would have been knocked out..👍🎶🎶🎶
WELCOME BACK MY FRIENDS TO THE SHOW THAT NEVER ENDS...!! Rachel is fantastic... Great work Dave Becher...you are finally playing in a band..!! Props to Mihaly, Len and Alex...!!!
This is a contender for the greatest thing I've ever seen on RUclips. Deeply moving. Awe-inspiring talent on display here. To think, ELP are usually derided by the rock press....
The fact that they STILL have not been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame is just absolutely insane. I've renamed it the rock and roll hall of SHAME as in "SHAME ON THEM FOR KEEPING ELP OUT !!!!
"The Rock Press" as Douglas Adam's would say "would be the first against the wall when the Revolution comes". The first time I ever read a copy of "Rolling Stone" the dork spewed on about how "Dark Side of the Moon" was "cheesy" I threw the filthy rag in the trash and never touched that shitty rag again!
Jeanie, I have said this before and I'm going to say it again, "Keith Emerson lives through Rachel". Listening to this makes us realise Keith is still with us. So I have to congratulate Rachel for giving this to us and making Keith proud. I know he is looking down on her. And not to forget the amazing guitar solo. She NAILED IT. And also that you to the others who collaborates who made this possible. Keep this up and we need much more of this. Rachel, don't forget we also want Tarkus :-) Keep this up and let ELP live on. Maybe we will see you in concert.
Such a beautiful comment Ben! I just discovered rachel a few hours ago and am absolutely blown away by her talent. There HAS GOT TO BE a way for Carl Palmer to meet Rachel and she join him on tour! Wouldn't that just be so cool?
Man!! I'm blown away!! This is the first time I've watched this incredible talent! She masters all keyboards and the guitar as well!!! It's absolutely stunning!! I play the piano and keyboards too, and I have to say that she can play much better than me, and my vision is just a little impaired... Phenomenal, astonishing, awesome, incredible talent!!!!
In October of 1978 I was working for MCA Records and was at a party in Los Angeles where I was introduced to Keith Emerson by a lady I worked with. She knew I was a huge slobbering fan. Now I had worked with many bands and stars but was absolutely speechless once I shook his hand. Keith was very cool. He spent ten minutes talking to me in a very relaxed manner. Like he was talking to his neighbor or a good friend. This ten minute meeting doesn't make me an expert on Keith but my guess is he would have been quite impressed with this performance. It was astonishing. (Moments after I walked away a waitress spilled a tray of drinks on him -- and he was very gracious about it.).
Just found this video now. Wow, it's amazing!!!! A friend of mine back in high school in the early 70's introduced me to Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. I hope he got to watch this! Roll On!!!
As someone who has been trying to learn the bass part for this song for months now (and still haven't mastered it completely), I truly appreciate the skill and perfection you guys brought to this, one of my all-time favorite ELP songs. Rock on!
Excuse me for a moment,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I had to pick my jaw up off the floor,...WOW!!!
Took five musicians to come even remotely close to what the GOAT pulled off five decades ago. Now I would like to see them attempt this live in concert . . . #ELP4Evah
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen! A virtual band starring Rachel Flowers! Soooo awesome!!! I had to pick my jaw up from the ground again after seeing Rachel playing the guitar! You are pure awesomeness Rachel! Wowee!!!
I am speechless!!! You are monstruosly good. Just by listening the piece and if you know the music can you understand the difficult, but only by looking at who is playing you really understand it. Tank you. You are fantastic. Giuliano
unbelievable.Rachel, you had the best tutor in the world,in Keith, very sad when he passed. But,keep up the work,my love,Keith's watching over you from afar.God bless.
It`s difficult to find words to tell how much I love this collab. Not only that this is my all time favorite ELP tune, but also seeing some of my RUclips friends collaborating with for me one of the musical prodigies of the present time, Rachel Flowers, makes me so happy and proud at the same time. You guys did an incredible job, covering this masterpiece by ELP ... BRAVO and hats off!
I was a huge ELP fan in the 70s during high school -- and still love to cruise RUclips watching their old concert tapes and videos, etc. I came here out of curiosity about what a "virtual band" is (Now I know!!!!) and who were these folks , trying to do one of the most difficult yet terrific pieces of music the trio ever wrote and recorded. I wasn't expecting this -- YOU GUYS NAILED IT! Close your eyes and (I never envisioned saying this) they ARE ELP! This took a lot of hard work and you all should be very proud. More thousands of people need to see this. And I agree with another poster here -- Carl palmer should have you guys do a concert with him! Love this!!! Love Rachel's work to the nth detail here!
I've seen this many many times and each time it still blows my mind...so much to listen to and discover. Brilliant. Musicianship is faultless and the icing on a magnificent cake is Lens' singing and understated performance. The ELP legacy is the best hands ever. RIP Kieth Emerson.
Another ELP collaboration we could not have done without Rachel. Brilliant, as always! Thanks again for joining this project Rachel and Jeanie. Now, on to the next part!
Karn evil has been some of my favorite pieces for decades ,I was a kid in the 60's so I was fortunate to spend my summers watching Zappa ,Mahavishnu orchestra ,ELP, YES ,Blue Whale ,Vanilla Fudge ,Return to Forever and many other fusion bands we just don't see anymore ,with exception of Dream Theater & Zappa plays Zappa.
I saw it live back in 1977 in Ypsilanti. I was coming home from work and saw the sign for the concert. Don't know why I didn't see it before then. Asked my wife if she wanted to see an ELP concert. I was probably going crazy. She asked, when? I said at 8 o'clock. Luckily, we only lived 20 miles from there. A basketball arena with bleachers. We got seats on the main floor right next to the guys controlling the lights and sound. That was great. This was just as cool to watch! You can see everyone at the same time.
I love watching Rachel play and see the joy on her face. Then she even did Greg Lake's guitar part... holy cow! I wish Keith Emerson could have seen this video. Even if his skills were failing him, he could have taken joy in seeing his music being carried on by others.
Sounds just like the genuine article. I can't say anything that anyone has said already, Keith lives through her and is smiling down at her. If you're going to cover something like this, I think all the parts should be there and from what I'm hearing, they are. God bless Rachel and the band for keeping this music alive. I've seen ELP 5 times in my lifetime featuring the major album tours. This is as close as it gets to the real suite, that includes Part 2 and everything they've covered. Attention to detail is key.
Whenever Rachel plays ELP songs I can’t keep back the tears. Reminds me so much of Keith. I fell in love with ELP way back in the early 70’s when they did their first tour of the US. They were my favorite band to see in concert and I never missed them until I went into the USAF in 1974.
As always, Miss Flowers is fantastic. beautiful composition of the ELP, played by that group. Congratulations ! "Como sempre, a senhorita Flowers é fantástica. belíssima composição do ELP, tocada por esse grupo. Parabéns !"
I was at the Emerson tribute show in L.A. .. hearing Rachel's playing live was so therapeutic for all of us. Thank you for your mastery Rachel! You are truly one of a kind.. the guitar solo? Are you kidding me? It was so flawless it blew my mind. Great work everyone!!
You guys absolutely killed it! I was expecting a random band cover, but as soon as i saw Rachel i knew it would have to be good and when everyone came in exactly on point, I was loosing it! Awesome job on the vocals especially, the whole thing couldn't have been better!
Mixing these tracks - each musician recording to a click or recording to the drums and bass alone - then having to put it all together - what a process.
One aspect of a truly great piece of music is, you can listen to it, over and over again and continually discover new things that you never heard before. This is my favorite piece of music of all time. I listened to it hundreds, if not thousands of times since 1973. I heard you do several things in your performance that I've never actually heard on the original album before. Upon thinking about it, I thought "yeah, that is exactly the way Keith played it." Congrats on this great collaboration. I've been following you for years and I hope only the best for you. Keep carrying Keith's torch as you develop your own style!
My grandad went to royal college of music and he said you always know a good piece of music if you can listen to it and each time hear something different. So while he was teaching piano upstairs where we lived. Downstairs where we lived I was playing this on turntable. Before that, while still a small boy I watched Oscar Petersen on black and white TV in the 60s...so I had a good grounding of music everyone laughed at us ELP record buyers they thought we were odd. But here we are listening to these musicians of all ages who were inspired by the music that all brought us here... RIP Keith and Greg.. And my Grandad. Piano player and organist.
As great as these people are with this cover, it really makes you appreciate the original when it takes 5 people to do what 3 did for the original. ELP was truly one of a kind.
You all are fantastic as always !!! Jeanie is so talented and breaking new ground playing great Greg lake rifs !!! Even though my heart is still broken over the passing of Keith, Jeanie is the only one I've heard with the soul of playing Keiths keyboards, that is unsurpassed !!! I hope you all continue to produce these beautiful pieces of music !!! (I love all of it )
I have always divided the world of music into two categories: THE BEATLES, and EVERYONE ELSE. At the very top of EVERYONE ELSE stand Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Together, those seven guys were my "foster parents," shepherding me through some of the toughest times of my life. Rachel makes me cry every time she plays ELP - shecmight be the only person who appreciates Emerson's genius compositions more than I do. I don't think that Keith believed himself to be half the genius the world believes him to have been. His departure was no less tragic than John Lennon's - both of which plus Greg's - just crushed my soul. Thank you, Rachel and friends for letting me know that I have not been suffering alone - that I am not crazy for loving this music so profoundly
Miss Rachel Flowers, let me congratulate you and say what a remarkable talent you have, I've seen many of your ELP interpretations and I'm amazed by how incredibly well you play Keith Emerson's compositions, as an ELP fan I can say that his music and soul live through your talent, thank you very much :)
OMG! We lost so many talented musicians in 2016. There were so many programs both on radio and TV extolling the talents of David Bowie, George Michael, Prince, etc. There was hardly anything other than terse news reports breaking the tragic news of Keith Emerson ending his own life. He stood as tall as any who passed last year. I've been aware of Rachel for a few years now and believe she is an unbelievable talent. This collaboration is just superb and a tribute to Keith, Greg and Carl.
This is great! I'm 53 and I heard "Brain Salad Surgery" when I was 15 in 1979 and Keith's been one of my favorite keyboardists ever since. I also love Gershwin and Debussy.
I've been watching this young lady for several years now and have to say, IMHO, that guitar break was better than Greg Lake's. Having seen ELP several times in the 70's (yeah, I'm that old) Rachel does a dead on Keith Emerson cover. Well done again, Rachel.
The brilliance of this video, which I LOVE, demonstrates that it takes two brilliant and talented musicians to play what Keith Emerson played , with two brains... he had to have two brains
wow, that was unbelievable..you had Al Bundy on keyboards, Kevin James on drums, Christian Bale on Bass and Anna Kendrick on keyboards and Billy Joel on lead vocals. wow what a lineup, all kidding aside. unbelievably excellent. Even Antoine would be proud
It's amazing to know that, although many musicians are no longer there, like Keith and Greg, there are people with incredible strength and talent, like Rachel and the rest of the musicians, who will not let their music be forgotten. Thanks Jeanie, Rachel and all the musicians.
This was awesome! I was able to close my eyes and imagine ELP on stage playing this. The vocals were awesome, as were the bass, synths, . . . everything!!!!!! Great job!!!!
I think most people come on here and comment because of Rachel Flowers' amazing talents......but I gotta pass along props to the other keyboardist Misi....you are superb Mr. Tunkli. Well done, I am you and you are me. I understand. Keep up the great work.
WOW I mean WOW, as a big ELP fan I'm blown away at the fact that these people who are amazing musicians by the way got it spot on, and the singer sang with the enthusiasm this song requires, they should without a doubt take it on the road, so fans of ELP can relive there experience from when they first heard this amazing piece of musical history. I humbly thank each musician for a truly spectacular preformence and spot on rendition of a true work of art. THANK YOU.
The singer . . . the drummer . . . the synthesizer player. . . the bass player . . . and Rachel playing both: the guitar and the keyboards . . . all are GODS!!!

I'm 61 years old, love elp followed Rachel for some time all the musicians R amazing 👍✌️🤩🤩🤩
Makes a grown man 68 want to cry...sheer joy
So we have the original recordings. We have this amazing interpretation. And its free. That's what I call real privilege.
Karn Evil 9 was so far ahead of its time and your cover does the most justice to the original that I've ever heard! Excellent musicianship and vocals all around!
Thanks from all of us!

Check out Band Geeks doing all of, Close to The Edge.. It's GREAT..❣👍🎶 But yeah.., Rachel is STUNNING.. Truly gifted..❤
Dood right
Rachel can do this with ANYTHING! Check out her jam with Dweezil Zappa.
Case closed.
Excellent, everyone!!!! Thanks to all of you!
This cover does not suck.
Not only does it not suck, it's the best cover I have ever heard of any band. I've heard many mediocre covers of Zep, Yes, and others, but when it comes to ELP, those cover bands can't handle it. Thank God for these musicians and may all be blessed !
So let me guess - you are well practiced at understatement. Doesn't suck, indeed.
@@OrganGrinderEleven I know enough about being understated to just get by.
I’m struggling with the concept of someone actually doing a cover of a track as complex as this, much less one that’s any good.
Doesn't suck, but it's lacking the energy 3 dudes pulled off. Probably my only critique.
just think!.....Greg Lake had to sing AND play these complex bass runs at the same time, live!
Just also think!...Keith was alone to play these masterpiece on keyboards !!! ;-)
Lake was and is one of rock/prog's most underrated bassists...
I know he obviously wasn't singing during that part, but his playing during the 2nd half of Fugue (the frantic half lol) is quite astonishing.
Lake was the epitome of cool. He was so smooth and his vocal delivery was effortless.
Greg Lake was insanely blessed... singing like an angel, playing the bass frantic as a possesed.
In loving memory of Greg Lake.
AIGOR 757 Great vocals from this singer, but Lake was fantastic on the vocals and bass. Greg sang the heart out of this song!
@@markusantonio4866
He sang the heart INTO this song!
Well done and thank you for sharing this with us.
Greg Lake was a true musical genius.
Karl Palmer is the only one alive out of this trio 😢
Rachel!!! As if the keyboards weren't enough! That guitar solo. You guys were all superb!!!!!!! RIP Keith and Greg xxxx beautiful really
Rachel totally blows me away with her passion and talent. What an inspiration to all that want to be musicians. I did not know that she played guitar! Wow!
You ought to see her with Dweezle Zappa... It's jaw dropping.. (and she sings on that one too, while playing giitar..)... Frank would have been knocked out..👍🎶🎶🎶
@@richardgleichmann7671 Yes, this is amazing. Just thought of that.
It's 2024, and we witness here infinitely more talent than the entire download top 100 combined. We live, sadly, in a period of musical devolution...
Human brains have not yet evolved enough to comprehend the genius of ELP's music.
The anti prog critics can take a flying leap! :)
Absolutely!!!!
The fact that they STILL have not been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame is just absolutely insane. I've renamed it the rock and roll hall of SHAME as in "SHAME ON THEM FOR KEEPING ELP OUT !!!!

Bassist just burning through this piece. He puts Greg Lake's mastery on full display. Cheers Alex
You don’t get in King Crimson for no reason!
True that..go Alex !
Still trying to learn this bass part since 1977.
日本人で失礼します、驚きましたほぼ完璧ですね、ほぼと言ったのはキースエマーソンさんに失礼だと思ったからです、いやぁカッコイイすげぇ、最高です!
This is so awesome Rachel is a gift to all ELP fans they are all excellent musicians , im 66 years old i have goose bumps,!
James O'Connor she is an incredible talent. Amazing to play any of Keith's pieces, much less being blind. Truly a gift from God.
Holy shit she's a guitarist too?!! What the hell is beyond her grasp? Straight up godlike ability Keith Emerson would be quite proud
Jeanie, I have said this before and I'm going to say it again, "Keith Emerson lives through Rachel". Listening to this makes us realise Keith is still with us. I gotta say... I came here for Rachel Flowers and the keyboard cover, but I'm really appreciating the singer.

The bass guitarist and the guy who plays the synthesizer are BEASTS!!!.
So the blind girl Rachel on keyboards and lead guitar is not a beast? C'mon now. :-)

This guy sings well. Rachel Flowers is not only an excellent keyboardist but also a respectable guitarist.
As great as these people are with this cover, it really makes you appreciate the original when it takes 5 people to do what 3 did for the original. ELP was truly one of a kind.
I am so enamored with this talented group of folks - especially Rachel -- that I posted this on Facebook so others could see it.
Mind....blown! ELP will be proud for sure. I knew about Rachel, but didn't know she could nail guitar like that! Well done to all involved.
(I love all of it )
Rachel never ceases to amaze me such a magnificent talent.
Really Cool !
Brought tears to my eyes.......My Favorite Band Is and will always be ELP
Great Job......
Have to mention George's early and unfortunate departure. More tears whenever I rewatch any part of Concert for George.
This is brilliant.
Well done to all of you.
wow.. took what 6 people to do what 3 did
disregard my last statement. just realized that Flowers was playing. My bad
Wonderful!! Thanks so much. A really amazing performance from your ensemble cast. Smoking guitar too! Well done all of you. I loved it!
I've been watching this young lady for several years now and have to say, IMHO, that guitar break was better than Greg Lake's. Having seen ELP several times in the 70's (yeah, I'm that old) Rachel does a dead on Keith Emerson cover. Well done again, Rachel.
Rachel has an accuracy that's just staggering. I can only imagine what she would do with another genius prodigy like Chris Thile.
I got chills and tears watching one of the greatest rock compositions performed flawlessly! Thanks to all involved especially Rachel - you rock!
The brilliance of this video, which I LOVE, demonstrates that it takes two brilliant and talented musicians to play what Keith Emerson played , with two brains... he had to have two brains
I cried, its beautiful.
Keith Emerson’s music lives through Rachel’s fantastic talent!!!
Love the synth player - looks like he should be working in the local hardware store, but could wipe the floor with most younger keyboard players!
wow, that was unbelievable..you had Al Bundy on keyboards, Kevin James on drums, Christian Bale on Bass and Anna Kendrick on keyboards and Billy Joel on lead vocals. wow what a lineup, all kidding aside. unbelievably excellent. Even Antoine would be proud
I loved your comment! LOL.... Funny thing is... I have a LOT of Billy Joel covers on my channel! Thanks... and so glad you liked!
It's amazing to know that, although many musicians are no longer there, like Keith and Greg, there are people with incredible strength and talent, like Rachel and the rest of the musicians, who will not let their music be forgotten. Thanks Jeanie, Rachel and all the musicians.
Rachel should be enshrined in the music hall of fame for her genius. I love listening to her play. Beautiful .
These guys are great! Getting together virally and making a difficult piece, is amazing.
Great to hear it with an excellent vocalist.
Really nicely done.
Thanks!
THANK YOU.
Thanks from all of us!
Can't get the big smile off my face when watching. Thank you!
Fantastic stuff again chaps!
Rachel is totally amazing as usual.. I always wait for her new videos..Nice work everyone..
