    I got diagnosed with a partial patellar tendon tear through MRI a couple months ago, after a bad squat. Have been following your jumper's knee protocol pretty much since with some success albeit with flare-ups here and there, but not returned to heavy training yet.

    Pretty crazy how tendon pain is so specifically located and doesn't change. I've had the same spot of my quad tendon hurting for over 10+ year. Doesn't radiate, area of pain doesn't get bigger, the only thing that change is as you said, the pain is sharp as hell when it's flared up. And it is true that prolonged sitting make it hurt too. Personal experience; when I end up sleeping with my knee flexed, that also can cause pain, althought it usually goes away a few hours upon waking up. Same goes for standing for many hours when you're not moving around much (job related for me), tendon gets extremely stiff and unconfortable. When I start walking, and moving around, it returns to "normal". The MRIs I had done also showed calcific deposits on the tendon, so I wonder if that part plays a role in pain too. Sometimes ya gotta accept that knee pain is part of your life lol

      @@jake_tuura I will however say that leg extensions ISO is probably the #1 thing I tried that has helped the most. And I tried quite a lot of stuff over the years, from foam rolling and stretching my quads and hip flexors, to shifting to hips and glute dominant squats, etc. I'd always thought I wasn't strong enough so I kept training, my training numbers were going up, but the pain wasn't getting better lol. After 10+ years I'm gonna guess chronic pain and tendinopathy symptoms are probably blurring together so it's hard to tell which is which, but it is a struggle, I'll admit. However heavy ISOs and rebuilding my RFESS did allow me to regain quite a bit of relatively low pain activities this year, so thankful for that knowledge you put out over the last months/years.

    I believe distal patellar tendinopathy in long distance runners might be due to the damage in the sciatic nerve. I am not sure, thought, but I do believe it. My dad competes in long distance running and suffered pain originally in his sciatic nerve, and suddenly it started spreading to the tibia. It is usually due to poor glute, lower back and core activation. Maybe it might be true or not, but I leave you to decide that. Amazing content, by the way, this is very informative and useful.

    What range of motion should I use if I use knee extension machine as an exercise? Some recommend only to 90 degrees. I have osgood schlatter but I have stopped growing so it should be treated like a jumpers knee.

      @@jake_tuuraWill quad muscle imbalance fix it self with unilateral work? Anything I should do about it beside unilateral exercising?

    • @jake_tuura
      @jake_tuura  4 месяца назад

      @@misterace1191 no, it will clear up with unilateral. Might not get to exactly equal, but close enough. If you had it, e-stim could help to further get the muscle activated
