    In one of the Vader comics though he is literally crushed by a collapsed building and he uses the force to keep himself alive even though his suit is ruined, so I don’t think he’s suffocate from a hole in his suit straight away.
    The xenomorph may still be able to kill him but I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as a vaporising acid would burn holes in his suit and suffocate him, and he already survived terrible burns so I really don’t think he’d be killed so easily to be honest.
    Nice theory though. Keep it up.

    • @Eminem12378
      @Eminem12378 6 лет назад +16

      Leah Dragon Agreed, Vader is capable of surviving without his suit for long periods of time by using the force to temporarily heal his lungs. He definitely wouldn't be able to go on without his suit forever but he is still an extremely formidable foe without it. I can't blame Kyle for overlooking this, though. The Star Wars lore is complex and you REALLY have to dive into the lore outside of the movies to truly understand what the Force actually is and how it works. On top of that, you can't really apply much science to the Force. And unless my memory betrays me, Vader's helmet and the control box on his chest control his breathing, so unless he got acid on either of those locations his suit would continue to breath for him like normal. In the event his suit does get damaged too extensively he can go on without it, like you said. Keep in mind I'm going completely off of Legends here, but unless Disney has explicitly overrode something for the new canon I still treat Legends like it's canon. Long story short, I completely agree with you. Apologizes if it seemed like I was drawing that on for too long, I just love to chat Star Wars.

    • @leahdragon
      @leahdragon 6 лет назад +3

      Joseph Torres he can’t breathe anyway without the use of his suit so keeping himself alive without the respirator would mean he can’t breath and STILL stays alive when he is crushed by a building. Plus when a building falls there’s plenty of dust and shit in the air that can cause trouble with the air ways. He simply doesn’t need to breathe while sustaining his body with the force while his suit is damaged, so your point is moot.

    • @LudlowSRK

Why not argue instead that xenomorphs dissolve their own exoskeletons from the inside and instantly turn themselves into a puddle of goo the moment they come into existence?

    Three big issues with your theory...
    1) Vader has force sense, he should be able to reasonably tell where they are before they get close enough to mess with him.
    2) Vader travels with Storm Troopers, allowing him to see what the Xenomorphs can do before he ever faces one personally, better preparing himself for the fight.
    3) If we are going with the movies being cannon, then obviously blood does not simply explode into mist as it would in real life, if we are accepting light sabers and Xenomorphic blood, then we must also assume that regular blood does not simply explode into mist, and that there is a good chance that Xenomorphic blood has a similar boiling point as regular blood based on it's properties in the movies...
    With no acid blood mist, no sneaking up on Vader, and Storm Troopers to help Vader (still an amazing swordsman/tactician/force user by any measure of the terms) better access the situation, I think it would be an easy victory for Vader...
    Let's not forget how easily the Predators take down hordes of them... Now, 4 or 5 Predators vs Vader would probably be a fairly good fight

    • @Bethorien
      @Bethorien 5 лет назад +9

      Protective systems:
      "Vader wears gauntlets on his prosthetic hands made from Micronized Mandalorian iron weave" (Beskar)
      "The outer cape, and to some extent, the tunic, was made out of armorweave, as it provided protection from environmental damage and was light enough for adequate movement. The cape also acted as a protective cloak designed to block fire and acid jets, thus helping protect the suit's electronics. Similarly, the cape also minimized the possibility of grit and other contaminants from entering and potentially clogging up the filter."
      "INFRARED AND ULTRAVIOLET VISION" Not sneaking up on him in the dark
      "Despite the weaknesses imparted by the suit, it also provided a number of strengths. These included greatly enhanced durability and stamina, numerous sensory enhancements, and protection from extremely inhospitable environments and biological weaponry."
      Vader wore a black ribbed, padded, multi-ply body glove that covered everything below his neck. This flexible, quilted suit was blast-dampening, and was made of a fireproof material that provided some protection against flames and corrosive gasses. The armor was constructed in ten layers, with each subdivided into three primary layers. The first primary layer was a self-sealing surface similar in function to a standard Emnat suit worn by most Imperial military officers. The outermost layer was a black insulating shell, and the inner layer was an Andwa gel-crystal matrix. The second primary layer dealt with impact protection from physical shock due to the irreversible damage to the torso. The first layer was Reifflex cellular padding which was also utilized for some Stormtrooper helmets; the second layer was orthofabric; the third layer was mylar laminate; the fourth layer was polychlorophene-2 fiber weave, while the final layer contained a rechargeable energy suit. The third primary layer related to the pressure and temperature regulatory functions of the suit. The first layer contained plastex pressure garments; the second layer related to temperature stasis and the third layer was a compression sheath.
      There was also a gasket within a suit that accesses the cartridge containing kouhunin chemicals to lessen Vader's perception of pain. The suit was also lined with sensors plugged to diagnostic systems to monitor Vader's pulmonary, cardiovascular, and neural interfaces and feed the data to the central chest box. The suit's temperature was likewise regulated via a heating unit installed on the back.

      I don't think so. Some materials which are very resistant to heat are not resistant to impact or acids. Steel and glass being great examples. Glass is very resistant to (most) acids, but heat it and it easily melts, strike it and it easily shatters. Steel is very resistant to impact and heat, but a strong acid will eat right through it. Spacecraft's heat ablative plates are great at resisting heat, but you can easily smash them. A lightsaber on it's own might just vaporize a xeno and make a deadly acid fog, but a lot of jedi and sith were capable of creating a force bubble to resist gasses and other chemical assaults. A lightsaber with a Pontite crystal focus produces a cold blade which flash-freezes instead of burning. It comes down to a question of numbers. Enough xenos are going to overwhelm any defense, just like enough small children could eventually take down a grown man. A better question is "How many xenos would it take to wear down and kill Vader?".

    Since BecauseScience explained how lightsabers would actually work I like to think that the lightsabers also dispersed a one-way invisible forcefield around the “blade”. Where anything can go through it but nothing can come out of it like the incredibly intense heat of the blade. That would then allow it to be turned on without everything around it bursting into flames and would also contain any explosion of body parts.

    • @joshuasteele2645
      @joshuasteele2645 6 лет назад +11

      That's exactly how they work - a magnetized field of energy surrounding the blade which prevents the heat from erupting outwards until the field is broken (by cutting or stabbing). That's also why lightsaber blades are able to lock in combat, and why lightsabers can deflect blaster fire.

    Why do zombies in pop culture not eat themselves? What is behind their preferrence for the living when they are made of the same stuff as us? Why do they even bother sustaining themselves at all?

    • @yorade1
      @yorade1 6 лет назад +1

      Jeorge Asprec ive wondered about the probability of zombies eating each other. The biological processes that allow the body to still be animate after cognitive impairment, would probably require heavy caloric intake to maintain the body even through the stress of continuing function. Assuming it is viral or like a prion, altering the host body's ability to function but also like a parasite forcing a form of self proliferation and increasing infection, it probably relies heavily on sensing healthy hosts through sense of smell. This doesn't explain why zombies dont feed on each other, nor does it explain why zombies have a heightened sense of smell in comparison to normal human beings. It would be great if a video game or a movie explored these concepts fully.

    • @Rezuvious

In effect, he'd never even need to use a lightsaber at all, just wander through the horde of Xenos while keeping them from coming in contact with him in any way. Pop the airlock and use force push to send them all into space, all without having to get his hands dirty.

      Yes but knowledge is literally power in this situation if he had ask the Intel on the spices sure he could figure way out to destroy them effectively however space doesn't kill them aliens. If the spices was unknown to a force user the fact that both are melee combat orientated, well it doesn't look good the force user.... With enough intel the commanders would probably handled this fight by a droid army vs clone or force. Remove the reproduction source and watch the numbers dwindle

    Couple of oversights: the Aliens canon establishes that besides the Runner alien, the xenos are highly susceptible to fire and heat, and it shuts down their ability to "burst" acid out when wounded. Also, one of Vader's signature moves in the new canon comics is a Force "Wave", where he sends things flying violently away from him in all 360 degrees.

  • @ellahazan-fuchs7249
    @ellahazan-fuchs7249 6 лет назад +24

    Well, that's assuming Vader isn't strong enough in the force to simultaneously choke all the xenomorphs and win. He'd find them using the force too. However, I think lightsabers don't work exactly the way you think they do because apparently the force that's somehow contained in the kyber crystals creates some sort of field, presumably containing the heat perfectly or something.

    • @Soluscide
      @Soluscide 6 лет назад +1

      We don't know that as fact though in the Star Wars canon. Sure, it's a cool theory, but realistically if a lightsaber came into contact with a human or an alien they would just explode. And that is of course ignoring the fact that everything around the lightsaber would be lit on fire upon igniting the blade.

    • @kiraphobia222
      @kiraphobia222 6 лет назад +2

      TheSolusPrime Although Star wars isn't even close to being real, the lightsaber has been proven, fully formed crystals maintain the shape and power of the saber to a thin point, while it does have heat, it won't go around burning everything it touches, but it melts it... But doesn't burn it, but as we've seen and also as been explained, Kylo Ren's Cracked crystal spits out sparks and causes things to burn, also why it needs two other exhaust points to let out the extra power so that the saber doesn't become the universe's deadlist firework, so since Vader's crystal isn't cracked, it would stay at a perfect point (Unless manipulated by the force to shorten or bend but that's a bit different) now since Heat is Heat, it would cause a quick swipe to cut then nigh-instantly 'melt', and since the Xenomorph's skin can resist its own acid, even if the Xeno is dead... The wound won't open by acid nor will it melt... Now of course it's like 100 Xenos vs Vader, then Vader loses... Xenos can bust through his armor without acid... And since the force is a nigh-omnipotent force... Vader could technically heal himself (If he's learned that technique) or simply keep the acid away from him... Since the acid can't melt universal forces, that and this fight is a bit... Unfair... Xenomorphs are closer to reality then Vader is... So the Xenos can be killed by a human, Vader can not... But yea... I got off track and started ranting...

      Yes exactly. Death Vader is not real, pure fiction. And in no Star Wars movie, has any light saber ever exploded anything. The wounds are always immediately cauterized. So in this fantasy battle, there would be no exploding mist balls of corrosive death. Vader would clearly have the advantage. • @urath55
    @urath55 6 лет назад +2

    The only problem I have with this argumentation is that the blood, assuming it does consist of something like fluoroantimonic acid, would likely be - just as HF*SbF5 - air- and moisture sensitive. That means as soon as a Xenomorph would start bleeding, its blood would fume or even burn and turn into some oxidation or hydrolysis products which then aren't nearly as acidic anymore.

  • @chefmarcos
    @chefmarcos 5 лет назад +3

    Vader could throw the lightsaber, controlling it with the force, and have it loop through the area slicing all the Xenomorphs in half. The acid blood wouldn’t effect the lightsaber fast enough to keep it from doing this.
    If that fails, Vader could just force choke em out. Or he could drop something heavy on them.
    Thoughts?

  • @lawlrd6655

    "YOU PRESUME MUCH YOUNG KYLE" I'm not sure acid would eat through a suite that can survive a nuclear explosion. SW: Rebels S2 Finale. Also mind control, force crush, and life detect. Darth Vader is REALLY fast, I don't think a xeno could keep up with him.

    • @BigMac8000
      @BigMac8000 6 лет назад

      Yeah the life detect does make things difficult.
      Anakin is also very smart, and he'd know after he killed the first one about the acid blood. People forget that because his suit was built for him that he's also super good with electronics. Add in life detect that does cause problems.
      However Xenomorphs have one ace - they adapt to the lifeforms they've possessed. If they possess anyone with force ability, even someone like Leia who haven't developed their powers, they will create a Xenomorph who utilizes or adapts to the force in some way. Likely immunity, or worse, one that actually knows how to use it.
      Definitely all points needing to be addressed in this match up.

    I see a lot of complaints about Kyle's portrayal of a lightsaber as a ludicrously hot, body-exploding megaweapon. He knows and we know that is not what the movies show. The whole point of these videos is to examine pop culture artifacts in such a way that we can learn about the real world through them and also to think in such a way that we can start to come up with this stuff ourselves. If he entered this debate in the same way the super nerds like some of us do, these videos wouldn't be any different from a million others. What he's giving us is something different, and different is inherently more interesting.

    I feel like the scientific explanation you've given to light sabers is just flawed. You may be right in saying that they'd be so hot they'd cause people to explode on contact but if that's the conclusion you reach then you're assumptions are inconsistent with what we see it do. Like obviously I get that if we are to approach this by real world rules then there's no other conclusion to reach dealing with plasma but when your source of assumptions doesn't actually do that then you haven't really determined how an actual light saber would work, you've determined how something would work if we were to create a light saber facsimile based on currently existing technology.

      Excellent point; however, there's still no reason to expect that lightsabers would cauterize wounds made to xenomorphs; rather, their blood is designed to spray out under high pressure. Even if you didn't completely explode them, you'd still get a spray of vaporized acid blood over everything in the vicinity.

      @brianholliday5389 6 лет назад +6

      I was thinking pretty much the same thing. Because Science is talking about a contained plasma weapon and does a really good job describing what that would be like. But sense Light Sabers don't act at all like that the only real conclusion that we can draw is that Light Sabers are not contained plasma weapons.

    • @jcp1984again
      @jcp1984again 6 лет назад +3

      This shouting Fabio of a science nerd doesn't take the speed of a saber strike to account at all! To completely blow up an organism, the 3 000 000 Watts should be applied to it for a longer period of time than a fast swing that's in contact with the tissues for under 10 milliseconds! Therefore the huge amount of energy and heat the the saber blade emits only affects the target in a very limited area of contact! So no exploding bodies! Busted!
      Come on science guy! You have to base your scientific explanations to the source material since we don't really have any lightsaber tech available! :-(

    • @vsGoliath96
      @vsGoliath96 6 лет назад +7

The split second of contact at 3,000,000 watts of heat energy is MORE than enough to cause people to start exploding. Also, if the source material is scientifically flawed, and the show is called Because Science, why even bother with it? A Star Wars canon lightsaber is not possible. It cannot be done with how physics work.

    The saber doesn't make people explode in the movies, so we can assume that its containment field that gives it its shape prevents that kind of heat transmission (Hence why sabers don't just set everything around them on fire when they're activated), via science-magic. However, there's no reason to assume that he'd be completely safe from acid blood - their blood itself is a weapon, to the extent that in Alien: Resurrection, two captive xenomorphs killed a third to use its blood to melt through their cage (Always worth remembering that they're *not* merely mindless killing machines, but capable of waging asymmetrical warfare and utilising strategy).

    What if the lightsaber works on the principles of having a very high temperature in the core of the blade but the fields around the blade reduce the heat to the point where it does cauterize about 1/16 of an inch from the blade?
    It would also explain how you don't light on fire near one ;P

    • @paulwalsh2344
      @paulwalsh2344 6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, but I think Kyle's assumptions about the temp of the lightsaber blade was based on the real world necessity of a plasma contained within a magnetic field and their ability to cut through 4 inch metal struts like butter and pump enough heat into a triple armored door to melt it. But in all instances that the blade intersects with flesh in the movies they don't instantly vaporize flesh and do have somewhat of a cauterization effect. I guess that's because Star Wars is astronomical units closer to "swords and sorcery" fantasy except with starships and lasers and light years away from Because Science.

    • @BigMac8000
      @BigMac8000 6 лет назад +1

      Based on this principle, that surrounding field would be like putting a shrink wrap on a lightsaber. It'd make it unusable.
      Meanwhile if it was still hot enough to cut a person, once it got past that 1/16th of an inch the material being cut inside would immediately explode regardless of the shrink wrap layer.
      I do think Kyle should rethink the lightsaber though, it does feel like there's some methodology in which a lightsaber might cauterize a wound given its size, speed of cut, and heat. There has to be some combination that'd be like what we see in the movies, given the many different technologies we could be dealing with.
      He's decided it has to be plasma, but I still am not sure if laser technology isn't involved, especially given that there's specialized crystals inside it and the weapon is called "lightsaber" not "plasmasaber". I feel like there's something potential there, so I see where you're coming from.

    Actually Darth Vader has been shown to be able to use the Force on multiple targets at once, including redirecting torpedoes mid-flight from his tie fighter and stopping a grenade from exploding, meaning in theory he could, if given the chance to realize their blood is acidic, make a protective "barrier" around his suit (which may be how his helmet is able to stop lightsaber strikes in some depictions... emphasis on "may")

      Ya! A droid army could defeat a planet of Xenomorphs. They wouldn’t give the Aliens new hosts to reproduce or corrupt. It’d be messy and expensive, but the empire could do it. They could just zap them from space. The Xenomorph biology would continue on However. They seem to be able to exist in zero G, zero atmosphere, zero temp extremes of space. The empire would have to develop some Xeno spray, combat them on a molecular level. It’s doable.

      In terms of a close quarters battle, Vader would have the advantage as a lightsaber would likely be able to cut through a Predator's wrist blades. I am not sure if a lightsaber could effect the projectile fired from a plasma caster, but it could almost definitely cut through a smart disc or a spear. All in all, the only real advantage a Predator would have is stealth. So in conclusion, if the Predator can successfully land a killing blow from stealth, then the Predator would win, otherwise everything else it's in Vader's favour

      Vader is much better prepared for creatures like the Predators. The main advantage for the Aliens is their numbers and their acid blood, which would make close quarters fighting of them a disaster. The Predators might get lucky, but more often than not, they would lose against Vader.

    The science is good and all, but if you look beyond just science and look at all of the feats of both, I'd say it's pretty obvious Darth Vader would beat a Xenomorph 1on1 everytime, and if it's multiple it really depends on how many and where they would fight. Very Likely that Vader would win even against large numbers of Xenomorph tho if you scale him by feats (if you doubt me, look up what he did in the comic "Star Wars: Vader Down"). Still, nice video and great that Because Science is finally it's own channel!

    If you're going to use what you see in Star Wars to get the points of what can be done (qui gon cutting the blast door to get lightsaber energy) then as some other comments have said, you'd have to follow they don't burn everything around, or explode victims, and do cauterize wounds. We see that happen far more times then we see the doors be cut.
    Regardless if they did for some reason explode them, he could force throw the saber, and slice through them probably a dozen at a time spinning it and going through them from a distance.

      Even assuming lightsabers cauterise wounds, you're applying cauterisation to organisms whose bodies are adapted for such processes to be a viable way of preventing blood loss. Xenomorph biology isn't similar enough to any of the aliens shown to have their wounds cauterised in Star Wars for "but it cauterises the wound" to be justifiable. Their body structure and their blood are adapted to not react to heat in a way that would cauterise a wound even if the saber were to cut cleanly. While you wouldn't have as bad a situation as Kyle's version even if lightsabers did magically work as cutting/cauterising beams, you'd still have open, gaping, blood-spraying holes in creatures with pressurised acid, which would spray everywhere, get in the path of the lightsaber, turn into clouds of vapour, and form an acidic mist that would make being anywhere near the xenomorph a bad idea. When you just had to cut it in half because of how close it was.

    Ok so I see a lot of lightsaber videos that try to explain how it works, weather it be a laser sword or a plasma sword, but I have another idea. Somewhere buried in my library I have a book that explains how the jedi/sith weapon works. In this book it explains that the blade is made up of a loop of energy. It starts in the power cell and focuses through the crystal and exits through the emitter and is a straight beam that is curved back towards the emitter with a magnetic field and more closely resembles a force field or those ray shields that Grievous is so eager to throw up. It suggest a lightsaber's cutting power comes from friction of speedy particles rather than heated plasma. Just wanted to throw that out there and see what people thought.

      Why... because Darth Vader, as in injured Darth Vader... requiring the suit to live... Post Mustafar Battle ... Lost a lot of his latent abilities with the force, at least when compared to Pre Mustafar Battle. And anyways... The whole... "blood/acid turns into a mist/ goes everywhere" thing that this guy said... doesn't really make sense... If we are accepting that all of these Movie things are real, Xenos, Vader, Lightsabers, The Force, etc... Then the fact that we've seen people get stabbed, sliced and diced from Lightsabers TONS of times in the Star Wars universe and no one had there blood explode all over the place... Tells me (and should tell everyone else) that this whole mist theory doesn't hold...
      Yes it probably would in our universe's world of physics (but The Force and Lightsabers, don't exist in ours) but obviously the universes in those movies don't have the same laws of physics compared to ours... well the Star Wars one for sure... the Alien Universe, I don't know for sure, never been the biggest fan of that series.

    This isn't taking into consideration the possibility that the Xenomorphs skin is based on our own. They're not carbon based, and their bodies have silicon based looks. They're resilient to heat and pressure, and their skin can withstand G forces and temperatures ours couldn't possibly.
    Take note if the third alien movie. Where the runner is encased in a car of lead, and it jumps out. It was the rapid cooling that killed it, and the fear of fire may just be an instinctive response. We already know that the eggs themselves aren't made of exactly the same material.
    And maybe the physiology wouldn't allow the result you've described?

    The generally accepted consensus, from the way we see lightsabers behave in the movies and games, and the way they're described in comics and novelizations, they're not just plasma fountains. The saber's blade material is contained within what we assume to be an electromagnetic field of some kind, and it's only when an object comes into direct contact with the blade does it react with whatever force of heat is exerted. So even if the 35mil watt figure it correct the only thing that is affected is what the saber blade touches directly, and the electromagnetic field repels air while not in contact with a surface. There's also the space wizard thing and we don't actually know precisely how lightsabers would work. So simply applying our current knowledge of physics might be a tad insufficient.
    So no 'splosions..
    There's also the matter of the Force not being limited to pushes, pulls, and crushes. So again based on movies, games, comics, and novelizations Vader and his knowledge of The Force would probably stand a fair chance against a sizeable amount of single minded killing machines.
    And lastly, his suit. Vader's suit isn't a NASA EVA suit. There's quite a bit more to it than that. His knowledge of The Force also plays a part in his survivability, as he's been able to keep himself alive when the suit fails by using Darkside Force power, whatever that may be.
    So overall, great presentation, but xenomorphs are considerably simpler than Vader, his knowledge, and his tech..

      Xenomorphs would win and im a huge star wars fan. There is no way of getting around the fact that. Even if there wasn't an explosion these things. Fight predators and predators fought these things for years. Darth Vader not knowing what to expect would play a part in it and let's just say for the sake of argument. It doesn't cauterize the wound he would still have to take on multiple forms of xenomorphs and all at the same time. Not letting one land a single hit on him. Not to mention the possibility (again sake of argument) that he might have to fight predators. Because predators hunt xenomorphs I could go in more detail but that enough for one comment.

    What if the light saber actually produces an exotic kind of particle similar to a photon that decays very fast. What do we observe in the movies? a flow of a particles that shine, does not irradiate heat far away, but transfer a crazy amount of heat when touches something. It could be a beam of particles made of an unknown combination of quarks. Probably the light saber's technology use the strong atomic force and electromagnetic fields to do something similar to what happens when you smash protons together then it takes the quarks and reintegrate them in something new :P

Secondly even if say 8-10 were coming up on him he could just simply throw his lightsaber and kill them from a distance and the acid wouldn't be an issue. His tremendous power in the force though would almost certainly keep them from ever getting close enough to him for them to cause him any real issues.

      And you just figured out how lightsabers work. The temperature can be adjusted and The Shield around the blade. Magnets also play a big role. But I forgot what they did

      @@CoolMyron No I didn't just "figure it out". I just don't read "extended universe" crap because i'm just not that big of a Star Wars fan.
      I go by what the movies say and show alone. Not some trivia page on IMDB or a wikipedia article using extended universe sources.

      @@sevenproxies4255 There are books and novels that fill in details the movies don't have time for that are canon. There are entire books that give details to everything in SW, to its creatures to the ships and blasters they use.
      Or you just watch RUclipsrs that would just break all that down into small videos.
      Did not mean to offend you if i did.

    More training for Darth Vader needed. Should he face one down, I suspect he would learn what he could from his defeated foe. Leading him to create a new defensive force power. Instead of creating a Force Push against one target of mass, he could create small, continuous, force push's localized around him. Keeping the acid and the acid cloud from touching him while he is focusing that power. A Force"Shield" if you would.
