I love the understated finish. Congrats Izzo. This is a big deal. The amount of work that you put into it is apparent with how dialed the gear was, down to pre-clipping to your rope at stances, and the two locker draws for the head game. Also the climbing was smooth. Even when it was clearly hard. Very nice. Very inspiring.
Well done! The scream at 12:00 reminded me of grabbing the jug at the lip of Foops all the way back in 1981, after spending quite a bit of time finding intermediate holds that would allow me (171 cm/5'7) to get past the roof.
Love this. Love the fact that the Gunks has stayed a bastion of hard trad climbing. Having aided Twilight Zone a few times, I can't get my head around how difficult it would be to free climb that section of rock below and through the roof. It's core workout just standing in aiders on that steep wall.
the right knee after the Twilight Zone crux is standard. All the other ones are not used by stronger people. There are also at least two that I know of but didn’t use
no anchor and rope drag would make it impossible to belay. the cleaning beta is down climbing to the roof, jumping off and pulling back up to the last piece. then you have to pull on, clean the piece and take another fall onto the previous. then you can clip an anchor to lower and clean the rest 😅

thanks Justin :) I still barely know how to trad climb though. don't be fooled by the tactics on this one haha!
Well done brother. As someone whose hardest lead on gear was 10b, I cannot fathom the mental and physical space one must be in to do this. Awesome!
Dude this is insane. I can't believe this is only 5.13d. You are a beast
Love to see people killing it on gear! Great work man!

classic Gunks experience!

I’ve been wanting to try Twilight Zone too! Such a historic route in an amazing place
This route is bolted 😮
I know nothing about trad, but this felt pretty ballsy. Impressive stuff

Legend. Good effort, dude! Looks like a mega climb... steep tiered roofs and kneebars on gear! Are all the kneescums pretty standard beta nowadays?

bedddy niiiiice...... 💪💪
Beast! Beast! Beast!
Looks to have a direct finish by stay up & to the left
for sure. Would be pretty easy terrain but the rock looks good!
So strong
So brave
sick route, gnar!
I can't take you doing a climb i haven't done yet. Gonna have to skip alot of recess for this one.
it’s way easier than any 8A+ board climb
u would flash on top rope
So who followed to clean the gear?!?!?
