Centros really grown on me the last few years. His borderline cocky showboating and trash talk used to get on my nerves but now I see him as a dude that works his butt off day in and day out and is more passionate than even most pros in this sport. Glad to see him having some success

As much shit as people gave centro for being cocky, he always backed it up. Fast forward to today, he’s self aware of where is he fitness wise while still having the same confidence that delivered an Olympic Gold 👏

Nice to see Matt still running it back. That said, I hope the final is balls-to-the-wall with the medalists under 3:30.

@@brianmcewen3082 Haha excellent points. Maybe Yared can drag a teammate or two under 3:30. Even if not, I'm sure you know what I meant--I'd rather see a fast final than a strategic one.

Such a crafty runner. It would be nice to see him go to coaching when his career is done. Imagine the things that he could teach tactically

Where is his training camp? I hate that this seems to happen to so many talented runners on the down end of their careers: they end up training alone. I actually think he can still be really good with the proper support

    OMG
Cooper Teare missed third place (and qualifying for the Final) by 0.04 of a second. The difference in time from first to fourth place was only a tenth of a second.
Meanwhile Cole Hocker did his usual thing in his heat: next to last place (11th) at the 800 mark, 7th at the bell, and won the heat with a 54 second bell lap. Guess his achilles is pretty good now.
    Yared Nuguse smoked everyone.
Hobbs Kessler made it through with a second place in his heat.
And that high school kid, Simeon Birnbaum really does have balls (or is somewhat overconfident). In his heat he actually lead the race at the bell. Needless to say he can't hang with pros like Kessler and Sam Prakel, but his last lap was 55.7 and he came in 6th, so he beat three pros, and three college runners.

Wonder how well he would have done as a cyclist. His body perfect for the tour More money in cycling winning tour then. Gold in track.

I feel a bit sorry for him. Such a brutal sport to go from Olympic gold and then have to keep performing every time to keep your job and keep your contract and now struggling back from injury and working so hard and waiting for the results to come back. I hope he gets back up there again. He can do it. There is no reason he can’t. He’s still young. Also would be cool to see him move up in distance as he gets older. Could be a great 10k guy 🤷🏼‍♂️

as much as i’d love to see him progressively move up in distance, unfortunately he’s definitely at the age where a lot of pros hang up the spikes. i would love for him to keep on going as a coach, but unfortunately i think his actual running career is on its final chapter. regardless, i do hope centro goes out with a bang.
