I practice the wado ryu style and in all the movements we have more closed legs positions and when we move from nekoashi we arrive in kibadachi and not in shikodachi as in shotokan. Apart from these small differences I found your video very useful and training and I congratulate you for your clean and effective technique.
Thanks for this. I did Wado in 79/80 as a kid, before we went to Higashi, and I've been trying to find videos of the Pinan kata's that show me how we used to do it back then. Yours is the first that raises both hands in a cross above the head which is how we used to do it. Many others do the start differently. I'll check out your other videos too..
Yeees, we too. And it is one of the rare pinan moves, that shows the essential morote Age Uke move as general attack reciver ( no need to wait till kushanku ) AND the direkting the arm fuhrter into your grab from sticking on his guard retention. ( The "Tettsui") The other side shows a basic counter against it. Had to go from shotokan, via wado to goju ryu to finally find follow-in uke motions even in kata.
awesome tutorial, I was in karate Genbu-kai for ten years, i quit when i was 19 I received my brown belt. this videos brought back so many memories, im trying to remeber all the pinans this video helped a lot, thanx!!!! 😁
Really glad you like it and found it useful :) there is going to be loads more detail released soon on the website if your interested. www.danielpyatt.com Good luck in your training and if you have any questions please don't hestitate to ask.
Zak_Playz Really glad it helped and we have breakdowns of all the pinan Katas so please check them out and let me know what you think and if they help 👍🏻
It is kawrawtay and they practice kawtaw. An A in Okinawa and Japanese is ALWAYS an A as in "awe" sound and and E is somewhat similar to the AY in the word say. An I is ALWAYS the ee sound non-natives make the E sound like (karatee instead the correct kawrawtAY)
Thank you very much for making these training videos. I studied Wado Ryu karate in Tennessee USA when I was younger. I am now working on releasing the katas and basics of Wado Ryu again. Your videos are helping me so much. I hope you make a full series or may consider teaching on Skype privately.
Depends on style the extent as to whether it is a deep kokutsu dachi or a Neko ashi. I would simply advise that stylistic idiosyncrasies aside, if any version physically hurts you need to adapt it to work with your body not against because a movement which hurts you to even attempt it’s less than worthless too you, it’s actually detrimental.
Hi Hope, I only really focus on the simple katas on youtube but am likely to do more complex ones soon which will be accessible through website but watch this space.
Yes I know, it wasn't an insult just constructive criticism. I've been in classes where you're standing there for half of the lesson listening to the Shihan ramble on without even breaking a sweat. I actually like your clips and give a thumbs up. No disrespect.
this is a terrific breakdown of Pinan Nidan helped me massively, thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you so much and I’m really glad it helped

when are tou going to do bunkai of the inan series ? and when youre going to do nahanchi kata and its bunkai ?

I'm learning okan but I don't see it here...maybe it's in the deferent name?, can you do complex on katas too?

@@sempai3169 I understand what you mean, in class there needs to be some sweat and intensity built on understanding. Glad you enjoy the content 👍🏻
