Honestly dude I probably won't be doing this to my GX because it's just too much work, but I do appreciate all the videos and how well you can keep the viewers entertained. Your step by step commentary is great and we can tell how much effort you put into these videos.
Thank you sir! Yeah, I probably put more than the $500 I saved over a goose gear platform in time into this. Building the drawers and frame is way easier than figuring out how to build super strong mounts for the platform though and I'm only into that another $300 so it's getting easier as I go. Thanks for watching!
They have DESTROYED dispersed camping anywhere near Sedona. It's a travesty. Loved the video. Nice job. Looks like your a Phoenix local. Hopefully we'll cross paths out there.
I thought about hdpe too but my local plastic supplier only stocks certain thicknesses and 1” was $500ish a sheet. You’d have to route to recess since HDPE won’t glue very well. If you have a router and can stomach to additional cost it would be a great way to go. On the plus side, no need to paint!
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods I can absolutely make a rough appropriation of what you accomplished. I can confirm it will get the job done and look ugly, but I won’t spend $2500 on a custom built drawer system for a vehicle I’ll end up selling in 3 years anyway.
Gday sir, I’m a CAD designer and it would be really nice to make your whole build an assembly. All materials, screws, nuts bolts etc into one model. The alum, the 40deg brackets file everything. I’ll model it, you own it. Sell it for a few bucks prob. I’d love to do it and also love to do it to my GX:-)
Jake - love your content/S.O Humor & have watched all since you got your GX. I'm counting on your followup vid on the drawers - wait since holidays is killing me. Please help me get diy done for my Jun trip 🙏 (dont want to buy) thank you
Proof reading the script now : ) I’ll try to get it out in the next month but no promisses. Sorry, day job family keeping me pretty busy lately. Good news - Finished that parts list and it’s under a grand all in. Stay tuned and thx for following!
I only use the MVMU's that Gaia has in their map layers. No scanning necessary. So far any national Forrest I've gone to that has an MVMU, it has been in Gaia. You may need the premium version to get them. A lot of forrest's don't publish an MVMU though. Like Apache Sitegraves or Tonto here in AZ. We go to both often but no official MVMU's : / Can't even get a paper one. The ones that do, you can always download it separate as a PDF if you don't want to pay for Gaia Premium, but in my experience, the PDF's are not optimized at all and a pain to navigate on an iPad.
Check the folder again. I made a send cut send compatible version. The only issue is send cut send doesn’t list m10x1.25 tapping, only m10x1.5. You can just use m10x1.5 for those (platform to bracket connection) or try a different vendor. M10x1.5 s more common than 1.25 so the bolts would be just as easy to source, you just can’t re-use the seat bolts. Let me know how it goes!
I must admit, I watched this video and then immediately decided it would be better to buy the kit from Victory 4x4 instead...but the video was at least useful convincing me to this instead of spend hours doing it myself
I wish I had watched it before I started as well 😆 It's not as hard as I make it out to be, but Victory makes nice stuff. Although they're not the best use of space at only 24" deep.

I saw your posts on the MUD forums, so I was excited for this video to drop. Looks great man. Can't wait to see the next phase.
Came for the “How-To” stayed for everything else.
I see a new episode and can’t wait to watch it!! So great! Love your content! Thank you, Jake
Very cool project. When my oldest kid (have three) heads to college in a couple years I’m going to jettison the third row and do something similar.

I can’t believe you only have 400 views! This is great content.
I got your view, and that’s an important one :-) I appreciate you taking the time to view & comment. TY!
That wiring harness power source is genius 👍🏼
Yep. Credit to IG: @theozman_gx
Love the detail. I’m doing this on my GX and I’ll definitely be referring to your build!
Smart to not cheap out on the foundation if planning to build shelving upon it.
Storage platform looks great! DIY projects can be a time suck, but typically worth the added effort. Sometimes. 😂
Totally agree. The confidence to keep building skills is worth the extra effort. Thanks for watching!
That came out great, I’ll keep this in mind if I go with a gx
Well done! I had planned to do it with HDPE, but your idea with the L-track is a great one! (sorry for the rhyme, it was truly done by accident)

And I stole that idea : ) credit to the t4r.org dudes.
Woohoo more GX content! Great video
“…had better fake reviews…”. HILARIOUS 😂😂😂
Thanks for making the tutorial I’ve been waiting for since I got my GX in 2021! I’m too stupid to figure it out myself.
If I can do it, you certainly can : )

Question about Gaia gps: I was how (or if) you convert MVU pdf’s to kmz (or other map type of file) to upload to Gaia gps?

Send cut send says they cannot use the cad design for the rear bracket. I think they need them without the measurements.
Hmmm. I’ll check into that. Stay tuned.

Totally sucks. Schnebly hill rd. still open for true dispersed camping though.
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods Dispersed is the only way to go for me. If I can hear the next camp’s regular conversation it’s too close. 😀
