Yann Martel (Honorary Doctor of Letters)

At this year’s USask Spring Convocation at Merlis Belsher Place from June 3-7, the university will award honorary degrees to renowned philanthropists and business leaders Gordon and Jill Rawlinson, as well as Man Booker Prize-winning author Yann Martel, and Nobel Prize-winning scientist Dr. Emmanuelle Charpentier (PhD).

I learned how to write in proper English literally reading this man's novel "life of pie" in 2002. (Followed by passing my regional exams with a credit without which i wouldn't have studied BSc Chemistry in Nigeria). I hope I can one day share this story with him.
I'm a PhD now and completed a postdoc at usask in 2021.
