What a Legend. Mate I have been searching for just such a video detailing these process for some time now. Thak you very much. Also that red electrical paint/coting is called Glyptol.
Super helpful, my winch was stuck going in and wouldn't stop. After pulling apart the solionod I found that the contact pins had a Teflon sleeve around them. One was deformed and was preventing the pin from freely moving. Pulled them out and hit it with a bit of wd40 and happy days winch working again. Thanks again for the great video. 🎉🎉
Good tip about checking the battery connection. I felt like an idiot after disassembling the contactor multiple times only to find a loose connection at the battery. It would click a few times and then nothing. Tested with a spare battery on the bench and everything worked fine.
Great video mate I had a good laugh at you trying to remember how 8274s come apart When I first met crole he bought my old giggle free spool and I offered to help him rebuild his 8274 He's thinking cool this winch truck guy will build my winch good I legit made a meal of it couldn't remember vs a full giggle
Awesome video! Going to do this today, was at glass house thought I’d quickly test the winch. Wouldn’t spool out. Thank god I didn’t need the winch hopefully it’s as simple as a siezed pin
Definitely with the bar kit. I’m with you on neatness! I bought a slightly cheaper TG Thompson from RRO thinking I’d attach it to the long M6 bolts but the motor on my Warn has an extrusion for the armature bearing. Dang it. Will keep the TG as a spare and continue to dream.
Is it as simple as changing out the old warn style controller and just bolting one of these in? I want to put it under the bonnet but don’t want to waste my time with the bulky solenoid pack
Yep sounds like them pins in the bottom will be stuck, easy fix. Unless your power supply for the winch in is the problem, or I’ve had it happen where the tabs actually break on the solenoid
@@GQ2NV should be just moisture in there. I’ve had solenoids on the winch motors for the last 6+ years. They certainly don’t last as long but still get plenty out of them
@@DanielKistler yea right something else must be going on my solenoid was mint and I checked the power to wires hope nothing’s wrong with the motor it’s a warn 6hp same age as the solenoid
My winch in question is built into my Reese hitch so I'm hoping this works otherwise I have to drop the whole unit 250 pound off the bottom of the frame 😂
Absolute legend mate, got a ripper of a deal on a “faulty” winch recently. Followed this and she works good as new! 🙏🙏🙏

100% trying this on Husbands dodge winch and see what we find 🤔 Thanks for the epic video again. We learn so much watching your shed vids 😊
Can’t hurt to have a crack, and you’ll learn yourself how to do it providing it has the same solenoid haha! Thanks for watching, appreciate it. Cheers

Haha sometimes it’s the easiest things. Atleast you got it sorted in the end.
@@DanielKistler Yep. threw me for a loop because it worked fine pulling about 10 small trees out of the ground and didn't act up until the last one.
congrats on the shed man, looks real good be good to see the skyline getting some love too
Thanks mate. I was planning on starting the skyline like right now haha. Couple things coming up first then I’ll be into it
@@DanielKistler look forward to it man.

Hahaha yeah it’s been a few years since I’ve had one apart or done any mods to them. Need to refresh the memory I think 😂
Hey mate
Great video, very informative and great little fix for people to give a go
Keep up the good work
Thanks for checking it out mate. Cheers
Great vid mate keen to see more informative vids like this one keep up the good work
Thanks mate, I’ve done plenty of informative videos in the past and hopefully a lot more in the future. Cheers

Thanks mate, hopefully it helps you get it sorted!
Nice video mate, my mates 80 had a clicking solenoid in the high country a few weeks ago but weren't sure how to fix it. I know now
It’s a good one to know, could have potentially fixed it on the spot. Cheers
Another awesome vid. Super helpful and of course, a plug for RRO. I dream of fitting up one of their Bullet motor and Allbright combos 💪🏻
Thanks for watching mate. I’m planning on using the bullets aswell with the bus bar kit, keep it all nice and neat. Cheers

Yes mate, just take the old solenoid off and put one of these Albright ones on and wire it in.
Can you replace the old metal round selonods with the one your using now
If your talking about the factory warn highmount solenoids then yes you can.
Yep. I replaced the 4 solenoid pack with an Albright contactor on my M8000 after one went bad. Works well.
Good stuff Brother. Very helpful.
Thanks mate
Will the solenoid still click if the little things in the bottom of the solenoid are stuck cause I can winch out but not in
Yep sounds like them pins in the bottom will be stuck, easy fix. Unless your power supply for the winch in is the problem, or I’ve had it happen where the tabs actually break on the solenoid
@@DanielKistler I so hope the tabs arnt busted it’s 3 months old first exposed solenoid and busbar setup didn’t realise how vonerable they were

@@GQ2NV give it a good check over. Unlikely that it’s the motor but never know
My kings winch is clicking and it feels like there’s contact and I can feel the vibration in the box but there’s no movement at all. Any help ?
Pull the motor off and make sure end bearings are free and it doesn’t have any rust build up!
A large socket would probably be easier that ya hammer putting ya brushes but in .
Yep haha i usually use a big nut. Whatever works though 😂
I don't think it's possible to disassemble the old round nickel plated solenoids.
Low mount motor just engages with a centre shaft.
That’s correct mate. Can only change out individual solenoids. Cheers
The winds will work but then it will shut off let it cool down and it'll start again. What could be the problem
Depends on the winch, might have a temperature cut off or something along those lines.
Might download this video in case I forget 😂
Hahaha! It’s handy to know.
