This trope is used a lot. Ill never understand why people would get mad when someone doesnt tell them a personal "secret" that hurts no one
Literature Devil made an interesting 2 part video about this show explaining how, despite it's juvenile writing, and how soft they made Clark/Superman, he's at least depicted as the Superman we 've been pining for since Zack Snyder deconstructed him. That being said, I agree with you on the writing for 'My Adventures' not being very mature. I prefer Bruce Timm's shows because the writing is much better, and doesn't treat kids like idiots.
Which is funny cause the people behind the DCAU Superman show didnt even like the character that much
@@billyboleson2830 Yet, they treated him alot better than most people do these days.
I don't understand why they couldn't give Superman a complete redesign. The things they did with superboy in young justice would be a very good start. You know, after all what is a super man? What is a kryptonian? So many things come to light when there are a lot of questions with half cooked solutions. For example, what about a sun gives a person living on a different planet a particular power? At least young Justice tries to explain what the META gene is through Randal Savage, but this only explains EARTH and it's inhabitants, not Krypton's.
At least in young justice, they make a point that everyone has the meta gene in their DNA and it requires specific conditions to bring it forth and trigger it before any gene mutation can even occur. Any who, at least that is a start in the DC universe. They made an attempt with earth first, and I think that is a very healthy start since having to heavily define 1 character can almost completely deconstruct a universe the DCU has made.
I liked it enough, I'll watch Season 2. They've already casted actors for Lana Lang and Supergirl. I wonder what Lois and her father's relationship will be moving forward and when other heroes from the DC Universe will start appearing. Maybe Bruce Wayne appears in an episode and gets interviewed. But Batman never does. They've already made references to Dr. Fate, Green Lantern and various others in the museum, Clark was tricked into robbing in the seventh episode.
i mean, i might watch s2 if i still have [hbo] max (i probably wont). honestly, i'd prefer if they kept the wider DC inclusions to a minimum. esp since i didn't care for some of this shows interpretations of 'em. i just learned the white haired guy is supposed to be friggin slade and i almost had a stroke (a death-ly one). i think the show was strongest when it was focusing on the main 3, throwing in too much other stuff might be to it's detriment.
I dropped the show after the episode where Jimmy reveals that he knew and haven't been back since. For me, it was more of "I'm not enjoying some of the changes in this adaptation" and my tastes for superman have been changing.
The first one was my main reason for dropping (and the character drama), but the second one had the bigger effect, I guess. I've just been leaning more and more to the man of steel/new 52 supes (if you know), so I became less impressed with this Clark. Now I don't hate classic Superman (I enjoy the man of tomorrow movie more than this), but things change.
The issue is my adventure is Superman it was originally made for Cartoon Network but to save it it was moved to adult swim so probably season two will have much much more mature themes now that you’re on adult swim
Wait it was originally made for Cartoon Network? I read somewhere that was initially developed to be a HBO Max/Max exclusive but when they passed on it it was picked up by Cartoon Network
15:51 agreed. They could have then throughout the whole season
Man this guy's videos are seriously good for such a small channel, not to mention my man is le based!
This show tries to be a slice of life romance but I could care less for their romance. Also, Jack Quaid voicing Clark Kent wasn't the show's best choice sorry 😂
THANK YOU!!!
He wasn't AT ALL! If anything, he was still playing and sounding like Hughie from the FAILED "adaptation" of The Boys comics. The blushing made the show unbearable to watch, because it's Americans or Westerners' "idea" of what makes a Japanese anime, well, ANIME. lol
@@JosephCoenMasonfirstly, that’s just his voice, leave the dude alone.
Secondly, the Boys show isn’t a failure at all. It’s won 11 awards, literally. You should be happy it’s not a direct adaptation of the comics, because the comics are trash
@@JosephCoenMason Failed? Dont tell me you prefer the comic lol
@@Lutherstrode17492 "That's just his voice."
... That's like casting Seth Rogan as Superman.
There are some things I like about the show but then I went back and watched the first like three or four episodes of the older show and holy shit it’s night and Day I’m sorry but goddamn😂
DC super heroes tend to act like teens who need mommy, so they go freud
I _tolerated_ most of it. Oh, it certainly had a shite-ton wrong with it, but some parts were interesting. It's still barely reaching a 5/10 at most.
They pulled another Invincible here?? 😂😂daymn
6:56 he has saitama’s voice
superman the animated series is peak also lois is a baddie
I'll answer why this is terribly written. It's because the obnoxious millennials that never really matured out of high school, have now taken over the writers jobs. This is the worst time for entertainment.
SUBBED
Though you meant it as a joke, it's funny you said "white washed" since the majority of the characters, who've ALWAYS been canonically white, have been either black washed or brown washed. lol
yeah, true lol
jimmy was a redhead too, wasn't he? goddangit.
@@mummyman5 Of course! Always had been and he always should be! What's with the "James" nonsense? They did the same thing on the Supergirl show, referring to him as "James Olsen", to "differentiate" him from the canon Jimmy Olsen. 🤣
@@mummyman5 Gingers always get the black palette swap without fail. It's gotten to the point that even South Park is parodying the trope.
Well, it was pretty bad so not surprising, its just superman but a bit pathetic and now every villain is just a guy who found some kryptonian stuff. It's pretty bad.
Yeah. I don't like the Superman Anime either. They took Avatar: The last air bender artistic style and ruined the more important parts about many characters that kind of matter a whole lot more than what they should be Such as Jimmy Olsen being an albino, Ginger, photojournalist and the first person for superman to trust outside of his hero life... Like, Lois Lane is not some little girl with undefined feminine features (talking about brain maturation here) under the age of 16 who can't catch a break as a news reporter and lacking characteristic features that allowed her to become the most dependable news reporter in the entire business.
Quite frankly, the problem where all this stands is at... well, WarnerBros. Their reputation constantly precedes them.
Season 2 was a success in ratings…
@@MrArielK
A group of people once watched a man who planned to eat an entire barrel of cheese balls in front of at least 1 person is also described as a success in ratings.
What is your point?
@@Thesupperals you said "the problem is", ironically thats a very lucrative problem WB has

This is pretty embarrassing. You could use millions of better examples of the maturity of anime than goofy crab man in literal underwear being murdered by a tie in front of a butt chin guy. This is literally the Spongebob roller coaster meme. I'm young enough to've actually seen the first episode of OPM as a kid at that so this is just a thoroughly shit point overall. For what ratings are worth, OPM is rated like 14+ and I still consider 14 year olds to be kids. This show looks goofy and is about Superman. I'm pretty sure it was announced for Cartoon Network and then was booted to Adult Swim like Unicorn Warriors Eternal IIRC.
ANIME INFLUENCE: THE DUMBIFICATION OF THE WEST. CAN WE PLEASE BRING BACK INTELLIGENT CONTENT? GOD I MISS THE OLD DC ANIMATED UNIVERSE.
