Your a hoot. LOL this is how you open the window and close it. This how you open and close the lock. It is little but looks like fun. Good luck and be safe.
Magical crank windows! Even the goat can lock the doors! That is a cute little car! Does it come in yellow? Must be yellow! Lol 😂 Love a standard! Toggle switch awesome! Cute little engine to boot!
Rusty, I copied this from Chevys owner's manual. It says you have to disconnect the negative battery cable and stay below 70 mph. Don't know about you but the 70 mph thing would not be a problem for me. You can get quick connects for the battery cable on amazon. It looks like an old manual disconnect with a lever that moves back and forth. To dinghy tow the vehicle from the front with all four wheels on the ground: 1. Position the vehicle to tow and then secure it to the tow vehicle. 2. Apply the parking brake. 3. Shift the transmission to Neutral. 4. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery. See “Negative Battery Cable Disconnection” under Battery - North America 0 176. 5. Cover the negative battery post with a non-conductive material to prevent any contact with the negative battery terminal. 6. Release the parking brake. Caution If 113 km/h (70 mph) is exceeded while towing the vehicle, it could be damaged. Never exceed 113 km/h (70 mph) while towing the vehicle.
Are those the owner's manual instructions specifically for a standard-transmission 2021 Spark, or for all Sparks in general? It MAY be simpler due to the manual transmission. Are the instructions the same for other GM cars also? Hard to say whether it's very specific to the car, or just boilerplate that works in several of their cars. There can be several different reasons for disconnecting the battery, and each of them might or might not apply to any given car, or might apply if towing it one way but not another. Sometimes, it is simply to avoid battery drain, especially if the particular car needs the ignition key inserted and turned to a specific position while being towed, whether to unlock the steering wheel or to allow the car's brakes to be used by a braking system, or to use the car's tail/brake lights if not using magnetic towing lights, etc. Two particular concerns once the key is left inserted, are making car theft too easy, and if the ignition switch is defective or jiggles and thinks the car is on, activating computers which drain the battery, or with an auto-trans or servo-shifting-manual trans, the computers might put the car into gear and destroy the trans or engine. It is definitely worth researching whether a simple charging line from the RV to power the car tail lights or whatever, would eliminate the need for disconnecting and reconnecting the battery in this particular car. While great disconnect switches are available for $15, there are downsides to having your car always think the battery was recently dead, all the codes and calibrations wiped out, and continually re-doing all the OBDII procedures to get all the different diagnostics back to "ready" state. He's not the first to use this car as a toad, if things didn't change for 2021. Someone has to know the actual answers, and what the different options that actually work are. Whether that would include every Chevy dealer, is doubtful. I'm also suspicious that boiler plate in HIS OWN owner's manual might be just the simplest method that works on a whole range of their cars with a wide variety of models, model years, engines, transmissions, braking computers, with/without electrical power steering, ABS (if it's not on 100% of all cars now) etc.
@@EfficientRVer I thought I replied to this from phone but... Anyway, I copied that from the online 2021 Chevy Spark owner's manual, the manual tranny section. Can't say if it's boiler plate or not (for several of their cars) but on a new car I was going to tow, I wouldn't go against published documentation from the manufacturer specifically over warranty concerns but yes, Rusty needs to check his manual to confirm.
@@comegowithMEE I agree. I also wonder if disconnecting the battery keeps it from counting the miles towed, on the odometer! That alone would justify disconnecting the battery. I'd get tired of going under the hood, so would probably run custom battery cables to a master switch somewhere convenient in the car. "A ABIGAIL" has beautiful on-off and 1-2-both-off switches on Amazon for $16.
I have 179k miles on my 2013 Spark and still going strong. Removed the rear seats and turned it into a car camper. Check and see if you got a spare tire and jack. Mine came with a air compressor and a can of fix a flat.
I love it already! No electronic junk to fail. simple to operate. Worked in the interior trade for years and know its the bells and whistles that fail, and so expensive to fix.
Nice. And at that weight you won't have to install an auxiliary brake system, right?. I believe the limit in Texas is 4500 lbs before you have to install one. I pull my wife's old car, a chevy equinox, on a tow dolly and the dolly has surge brakes so legal anywhere I go. If you leave Texas I'd check where you are going for their weight limit on auxiliary/trailer brakes. States are different on that but I've heard be legal in your home state and you're good everywhere. Me personally, I want to be legal anywhere and no worries. Nice little car for sure. Perfect to "toad" around. Roadmaster sells those tow bars. You can probably find one on Amazon then find a shop to install for you. Good luck Rusty.
I drive a 1998 Dodge Avenger five speed. I love a stick. It has been a manual transmission for me since 1974 when I bought my first tiny Honda hatchback. Ppl laughed until we had the first gas shortages. Then They were buying Hondas. The only two vehicles I have that are automatic are a Ford Taurus and a Ford 1995 school bus.
@@lindabishop7656 cool that you currently have a manual. Most of my cars have been manuals too over the years. My Tacoma is an automatic, but my MR2 is a 5-speed manual. I've got to get that MR2 running again though, I miss driving it.
Remember the 50ies commercial "see the USA in your Chevrolet"? GM needs to sponsor your travels. also have you seen Scotty Kilmers you tube on the Sparky? He would approve your decision to go manual. Congrats!
Great choice for a toad 🐸 ! I like the manual controls, so much less to break or go bad. You done good! Bet the Goat 🐐 likes it too! Enjoy your weekend, Rusty! 👍👍 🐶🐶🤠🐶🐶🚐
Really neat little car. It will serve you well for what you will be using it for, Rusty. ‘Should make for a little less stress in your life. Onward to get your tow setup on your Classcita!
They need to bring back locks on the glove compartments. I used to be able to lock my sunglasses in the box and leave the windows down to keep the inside from going thermal nuclear on a hot sunny day. That was important when cars still came without air conditioning.
Thanks for a great video---we are thinking of getting the Spark as a toad too and this was the best walk-through we've seen. Only thing missing was a look at the cargo area with the seats down but otherwise, great!
Boy do I love the roll up windows. I have two vehicles and both of them need the driver side window roller fixed. So that is great. I personally hate all the fancy stuff that they put in the vehicles. I just want to get in and go. Looks like a nice car for you.
I'm with you.... I don't care for all the fancy electronic stuff either. Most cars, appliances, etc. are so computerized which means so much more can go wrong. I think "Sparky" looks great, too!
Best anti-theft device is a standard transmission.
Real men shift their own gears, roll up their own windows, and lock their own doors! Can’t wait for the tow bar tutorial.
With Sparky being a manual you don't have to worry about kids stealing it. Looks good 👍 take goat 🐐 for a ride
Those are power windows you just have to crank the generator.
Technically mechanical energy = Power = Electricity 🔌 🪟
I'm very impressed that someone still offers such a simple vehicle. It might be the perfect car!
Most of the tricked out import cars younger drivers have ARE manual transmission.
I love driving a standard, so fun!👍

Congratulations Rusty on your new ride..Rusty, I got my auntie watching your channel and she just loves it..
Love it. Nothing like simplicity. No bells and whistles to break down. No crap we don't use half the time. Number one awesome gas mileage. Enjoy.!!

Oh cool! Last video I watch you’d said your not getting a toad. Glad you did will make traveling easier for ya. Congratulations on Sparky!
Congrats Rusty on your new ride! Sparky looks GREAT!!!
Love manual transmissions! I bought a new VW Beetle 5-speed in 1999. Drove it 11 years. Great car!!!

Driving a manual in Texas is a piece of cake. I learned to drive a manual car and a motorcycle in San Francisco.
Wow, nice. I wouldn't think you could still get a car that basic...the less bells and whistles, the less to break. I'd love to have one of those.
Wow! Love it Rusty!🌟
Very nice, Congratulations! Love a standard, in fact I have never had the automatic.
You brought back fun memories for me. I drove a 5 speed for years. Happy trails Rusty. Sparky is Beautiful .

Great buy sir!! That car will hold value. Hard to find manual transmission new cars these days. Plus crank window. Nice!!
