Saw a documentary about this - Michael Hutchence and the drummer Jon Farris wrote this one together. When they played it to the producer Michael did the "dooo-dooo-dooo-doo' intro and said 'I'll write some words for this bit' and the producer said 'No that's it, leave it!'.
You have the hear the INXS + Jimmy Barnes cover of the EasyBeats song "Good Times" - it's actually one of their best recordings - Michael singing the Stevie Wright part, and Jimmy singing the Steve Marriott (Small Faces) part.
Pretty good song from INXS. A nice one to hear on the radio. Other songs of theirs: “Beautiful Girl” and “Suicide Blonde”. Don’t be afraid to do the last song. The title is a reference to the color of a wig.
My FAVOURITE song by INXS. Unusually, Michael wrote this with Jon (the drummer - the vast majority of songs were with Andrew); it is a full octave above his usual vocal range. Michael was just a great singer and, as you can see from the video, a magnetic performer. Such a beautiful soul. (Michael was a wonderful singer who was so underrated because he was so incredibly good looking.). You should check out some of their live performances at the VMAs, (Suicide Blonde) the Aria awards (Heaven Sent), American Music Awrds (Disappear), Top of the Pops (Need You Tonight - when Michael drops to his knees the audience SCREAMS) etc, It showcases why they were considered the best liv band of their time (they go there from years of hard work honing their craft).

INXS was the biggest Ozzie band of all time...from Sydney. Michael and the Farriss brothers grew up together in the burbs, They famously met when Andrew saved Michael from getting beaten up by a bully in the schoolyard (dude was jealous of all of the ladies going after Michael).

For your next INXS reaction I would recommend Suicide Blonde, but you wouldn't be wrong with either Original Sin or Johnsons Airplane. Geez this band produced heaps of great songs. Hope you can dig into Australian (& Kiwi) music a little more, heaps of great bands that didn't get much international success waiting for you to discover: Jimmy Barnes & Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, the Models, Divynals, De Re mi, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, Noiseworks.

If you want to take a chance and go for the, in my opinion, - punchiest - INXS song there is, go for the very often less requested “The Gift”. It has got a sick, distorted and compressed bass sound riff that, together with short, violent guitar bursts, ripple through bone and marrow throughout the song. The drums, in a very un-INXS-ly way, is perhaps a bit underwhelming in it, but the bass and the guitars make up for it. Plus the video is cool to watch. “The Gift” is, simply put, one of the best in-your-face songs from INXS. Other songs to check out include the elegant “Listen Like Thieves”, the commanding “Taste It”, the rhythmically catchy “Suicide Blonde”, and the straightforward, no-nonsense “Time”. Edit: If you would like to learn about the fascinating person that Michael Hutchence was, and about the one lesser known tragic accident that changed the course of his life (sadly for the worse), I highly recommend the 2019 documentary “Mystify: Michael Hutchence”.

I really miss this band. Michael Hutchence was such a soulful singer, it’s really sad that he is gone. Another artist that you should check out is Jeff Buckley. “Last Goidbye”, “Everybody Here Wants You”, “Lilac Wine” and more. His falsetto is amazing and soulful. ❤
