The history of an Old Fashioned, like most cocktails, is nearly impossible to track its origins. However, you can track how it has changed throughout history, and change it has!
It has become an iconic bar cocktail, that enthusiasts will immediately judge your bartending abilities based on how you make it. The problem is the drink has many variations and depending on the location, type of bar, and simply the preference of the bartender it can be difficult to get the old fashioned you are used too.
Throughout my career, it has really come down to two versions of the old-fashioned, and I want to show you both methods so you can make the version you know and love!
(Warning: if you are from Wisconsin, this is not the video for you!)
Wisconsin old-fashions are made with Brandy, and have a different method, and that video will be coming soon!

I prefer the second Old Fashioned. In my opinion its not to sweet. I like the spicy notes that come through.
