Yeah same thing happened with my phone when i put headphones and the logo wouldn't even go away even after unplugging headphone, it fixed it self, but not so lucky for nokia, plugging hp would hang it and i broke it to further use in future.
Doom didn't work because this is neither mips nor sh3 cpu.. you must have arm version of pocket doom. Windows Mobile was also built on windows CE, so you could try doom for pocket pc. Pocket pc devices are very interesting btw

I was spraying water on the circuit and transformer inside speaker(added salt first) and that sent line voltage down the aux cord to the pocket pc. I went to unplug the pda and I actually got shocked as soon as I touched it(the housing on hp ipaq hx4700 is metal). Surprisingly everything worked fine, but no audio.. even more surprisingly after reset audio worked again!

"FM" is an FM Transmitter you could pick up the sound through your cars radio ... ;) ,(BTW the warning is because some countries used to ban FM Transmitters )

When you choose a point of interest the red circle is not a loading cursor, you have to press the i icon on the right to see details about the point of interest. I can tell you, i have a device like that, it's not a Xgoody but is the same thing, and for the price [60€) it navigates quite well. Of course it's fragile and very basic but it works. You should search for a sort of unlock of windows CE interface. Uncle had a GPS which if you tap in corners in specific order, you got windows2000-like interface and could open explorer and browse files and run windows CE arm executables.
I actually had a gps device that actually failed in an update to its application and it constantly crashed the application and briefly allowed to enter the file explorer before the watchdog rebooted the device after 8 seconds. Also keysight oscilloscopes run windows ce which somebody managed to also modify
Interesting, i have a CE navigator that straight up lets you exit to desktop and mess around with the system. It can even connect to the internet through activesync over USB and browse the web
Smoorez! The *FM feature* took away the sound, because it is an *FM transmitter,* what you supposed to tune to on a radio! 📻 😉 Also, the fact it using EXE program for navigation... Is it maybe Windows CE based? 🤔
As soon as I heard the sound at 9:00 i was like "yup Windows CE". My dad has an old Windows CE GPS navigator from 2008 and it still works, but the battery is completely cooked.
There's a video of somebody copying a certain file into an SD Card and running it by going into the navigation option. It was another WinCE GPS but it works on literally every WinCE GPS. I tried it before and it works. It basically runs explorer as a navigation executable and you kill the GPS launcher from taskmgr. I think it was called "Navigator running Windows CE 5.0"
The iGo software is actually pretty good as long as you can get map updates. I've run it alongside google maps on long journeys and it actually did better route planning than google. Google maps is prettier, but for actually getting you there not always better. Also found it far superior to the Tomtom's of the time. Still have it in the wife's car to this day.
This unit runs on Windows CE. You can find explorer shortcuts online wich you can rename to the software that launches on startup. So instead of that menu opening on startup, you go to the WIndows CE desktop. My father has the same navigation unit (not from XGODY though) and i was able to do that. It's fun to mess around in Windows CE.
This thing is pretty much the same as the one I had in 2004 it also came with iGO Primo. I did not even own a car but back then it was like magic holding something in your hands that connected to GPS satellites. The first time you do a GPS search it's called a cold search and can take 10mins or more. But the next time it will only take like 10 seconds to get a lock. The GPS was actually really good. I did not turn on all those "3d" things like that tacky truck. I just used the arrow and if you updated the maps every few months it's not worse than Google maps now.
I ALMOST bought one... Because the way the Police are cracking down on mobile phone use and New Navmans are like $300 .. It seemed like a good Idea for in-car navigation.. (I mean older cars do not have android auto or Crapple Car missplay) so yeah.. I ALMOST got one.. Until yeah the yearly mapdates is a bit dodgey. The FM thing is so you can send the sound OUT to an FM radio station (FM Modulator function) so you don't have to run the Aux cable to get sound out of it.
Ahh fair enough, I have my GPS in my cup tray in the car so it's out of sight but that makes sense. And yeah I figured FM radio would be the OTHER way around...I am so used to testing things that play FM Radio and I just assumed :\

He was using GPS inside and these old GPS devices do not work inside.. I am surprised it picked it up for him. But if you are outside it only takes like up to 30 seconds to get gps.. which is acceptable.
2:56 Bugatti, not Audi. But these units are pretty decent for a cheap sat nav. No live updates, but when going across country it doesn't matter. Also, it is quite stable. My phone heats up and closes Google maps on 3+ hour drives, so this unit is a good backup.

I did a 4000 mile road trip with one like that. It was running IGO8 (not Primo). The beauty of IGO8 back then was that it could load a route you planned on your computer and then guide you. My route had around 400 waypoints and I read online IGO can only support routes up to 100 waypoints. I tried it anyway and it loaded the 400 waypoint route just fine. It took forever to initially calculate everything but eventually it worked ok.
i paid around £10 on AE for a generic brand one and it done its job fine, carplay etc was great! fm option to connect it to the car speakers. i stopped using it as it drained so much battery on my phone when it was connected and found it was easier just using my phone as a satnav which used way less battery
You should have downloaded ARM version of Doom, you got MIPS version (a lot of Chinese trash tier devices used MIPS processors) and SH-3 (Hitachi SH processors were supported by WinCE, hell, Dreamcast has WinCE on it and it used a SH-4 processor).
mips and sh3 cpus were on very early pocket pcs, most of them use arm and so do embedded devices like this. He tried both sh3 and mips.. no surprise it didn't work.
It does, it's fun to try to bypass the front interface and get to the actual os, but it's not gonna be very useful as windows CE devices usually don't have the onscreen keyboard, so you cannot do much.. but you could mess it up.. You cannot delete files because they are in rom, but registry entries are in memory/ram. I went ahead and deleted certain registry keys on the touch panel at work.. after reboot it was unbootable. They got someone to reload/hard reset the os, but I did it again lol. If you want to experience windows ce, you could get a pocket pc instead.. they are great.
for how slow it is, you probably would make it faster by following directions from strangers or signs lol. i would use it as a display tho, to me it's the only way to use it. as for the switch, i think it could be that the fm use the one you have on the car instead of having an actual fm module. that's why the audio wouldn't work, it will use the speaker car insted of its own. so dumb but so simple, probably you forget it belongs on a car :)
i recently made a long road trip and didn't know the way, so because i didn't wanna put my precious S22 through hours of navigaiton i pulled the old S5 out of the drawer and connected it to hotspot. android 6 but still works fine in 2024. of course i don't know for how much longer. still, just goes to show that repurposing an old/cheap phone is a viable idea.
Oh gosh, iGo Primo... This brings back some very distant memories. You could run this very same app on a regular Win CE PDA with a GPS attachment and use it for navigation. This was way before smartphones became mainstream. Suprised they're still providing map updates. IIRC, there was an Android version as well.
It's funny how the best FM Transmitter I have seen in my life was the Nokia N78 one, not even dedicated FM Transmitters, like the Xiaomi Roidmi were nearly as good.
I had two of theese tablets(not xgody) but the motherboards are the same and my tablets did let me natively run windows CE they had a desktop button in the menu page
Enable FM - You just turned on the FM Modulator. Most of these Chinese WinCE GPS devices have one. And yes, The Reset button is there for a Hard reset / Power cycle. it does not clear any settings. It is needed because wiindowsCE actually never shuts off in these devices.
You can buy cheap 7-inch touchscreens from big w, supercheap auto, etc these days, that have Android Auto and Apple car play built in, with reverse camera and everything. Laser is the brand sold by Big W.
the fm option is probably used to make a radio station, then tune in with your radio and use it as a rudimental Bluetooth hands free thing. there are many devices on amaz9n and others, that do exactly that. they make a station, you tune in, connect your phone with bluetooth to the device and listen it to the radio. although that means that people can just tune in and listen
I remember my first Android tablet also had an FM transmitter feature to be used for GPS navigation in a car. I enabled it and forgot about it, only later to discover that the sound had died on the tablet. A factory reset fixed it since it disabled the FM transmitter config.
I guess 'Use FM, Bugle invalidation' means 'speaker won't work in FM mode' - since the standard volume icon on many devices can (I guess) look like a bugle if you squint enough and pretend it isn't actually a speaker, I could see how broken English could get there.
Hey bro these old windows CE/pocket pc devices are lots of fun. Did you make sure doom you tried on it is actually made for windows CE arm cpu? It cannot run normal windows exe files
Well it may have been "good" a few years back but yikes it's slow. I keep wondering to get something similar for my car.somethibg with dashcam and reversing camera but mainly for playing music on long journeys. I'll keep using my phone for now. I just have to shout very loud at Google when up at motorway speeds lol 😆 But fun video and oh yes I've made similar mistakes. Lol but I blame my age. 😂
it's slow because these gps devices made in late 2000s, or pocket pc gps attachments, do not pick up gps indoor, outdoor it will work just fine. If you meant the 2fps refresh rate.. yeah that's how it is, but it is usable.

Find what version of windows ce its running and what architecture so you could get the correct version of doom, if that doesnt work then maybe the ui is overlapping it?

I need a dedicated GPS system that’s cheap and replaceable for my eBike. This wouldn’t be that, it’s not rugged enough and probably be nice to have some offroad specific features and bonus features too. I’m still building this eBike out, but I can definitely go far enough to get pretty lost already if I’m following trails and dirt roads that are poorly marked. 😂
We in western countries are lauging on products like this but we have to ask our selfs why we are not producing anything and why everything that we use is made in china one way or the other?
the reason why doom didnt run is because it was designed for x86 CPUs and that thing has an ARM cpu, so maybe if you can find a doom port for windows on arm it way work
you made music? should do a basic (totally)free(but attribution required) album of 30 second clips and stingers, other yt'rs i'm sure would use them and the attribution is free channel advertising

Don't think that is for a stylus but I have seen a few older tablets with a tv tune that have a antenna that looks just like that that pulls out believe it or not

The FM feature is to pair the device to the car FM and listen the sound of it through the car unit and not through the device speaker.
Yeah it has a fm transmitter inside, you set the frequency and match that on your car stereo.
This is also why it stopped making sounds

You should search for a sort of unlock of windows CE interface. Uncle had a GPS which if you tap in corners in specific order, you got windows2000-like interface and could open explorer and browse files and run windows CE arm executables.
I actually had a gps device that actually failed in an update to its application and it constantly crashed the application and briefly allowed to enter the file explorer before the watchdog rebooted the device after 8 seconds. Also keysight oscilloscopes run windows ce which somebody managed to also modify
he attempted to run sh3 and mips doom.. that's why it didn't work. It has to be arm
Interesting, i have a CE navigator that straight up lets you exit to desktop and mess around with the system. It can even connect to the internet through activesync over USB and browse the web
There are emulators for Windows CE and a lot of nice games too.

As soon as I heard the sound at 9:00 i was like "yup Windows CE". My dad has an old Windows CE GPS navigator from 2008 and it still works, but the battery is completely cooked.
There's a video of somebody copying a certain file into an SD Card and running it by going into the navigation option. It was another WinCE GPS but it works on literally every WinCE GPS. I tried it before and it works. It basically runs explorer as a navigation executable and you kill the GPS launcher from taskmgr. I think it was called "Navigator running Windows CE 5.0"
The iGo software is actually pretty good as long as you can get map updates. I've run it alongside google maps on long journeys and it actually did better route planning than google. Google maps is prettier, but for actually getting you there not always better. Also found it far superior to the Tomtom's of the time. Still have it in the wife's car to this day.
My dad uses iGO on his satnav and I found it amusing people still make recent maps for it
This unit runs on Windows CE. You can find explorer shortcuts online wich you can rename to the software that launches on startup. So instead of that menu opening on startup, you go to the WIndows CE desktop. My father has the same navigation unit (not from XGODY though) and i was able to do that. It's fun to mess around in Windows CE.
This thing is pretty much the same as the one I had in 2004 it also came with iGO Primo. I did not even own a car but back then it was like magic holding something in your hands that connected to GPS satellites. The first time you do a GPS search it's called a cold search and can take 10mins or more. But the next time it will only take like 10 seconds to get a lock. The GPS was actually really good. I did not turn on all those "3d" things like that tacky truck. I just used the arrow and if you updated the maps every few months it's not worse than Google maps now.
I ALMOST bought one... Because the way the Police are cracking down on mobile phone use and New Navmans are like $300 .. It seemed like a good Idea for in-car navigation..
(I mean older cars do not have android auto or Crapple Car missplay) so yeah.. I ALMOST got one.. Until yeah the yearly mapdates is a bit dodgey. The FM thing is so you can send the sound OUT to an FM radio station (FM Modulator function) so you don't have to run the Aux cable to get sound out of it.
Ahh fair enough, I have my GPS in my cup tray in the car so it's out of sight but that makes sense.
And yeah I figured FM radio would be the OTHER way around...I am so used to testing things that play FM Radio and I just assumed :\

Can't use phone while driving, but there's no problem using touch screen in my car for multimedia/gsp etc. Not to mention Tesla or other EV cars that are just big screens all over.
He was using GPS inside and these old GPS devices do not work inside.. I am surprised it picked it up for him. But if you are outside it only takes like up to 30 seconds to get gps.. which is acceptable.

It's a great navigation device.
For example if you put it where you don't want anyone to go, they'll see it and run in the opposite direction.
2:56 Bugatti, not Audi. But these units are pretty decent for a cheap sat nav. No live updates, but when going across country it doesn't matter. Also, it is quite stable. My phone heats up and closes Google maps on 3+ hour drives, so this unit is a good backup.

I did a 4000 mile road trip with one like that. It was running IGO8 (not Primo). The beauty of IGO8 back then was that it could load a route you planned on your computer and then guide you. My route had around 400 waypoints and I read online IGO can only support routes up to 100 waypoints. I tried it anyway and it loaded the 400 waypoint route just fine. It took forever to initially calculate everything but eventually it worked ok.
To open EXE you can instead of navigation file, select in settings your exe and when you press navigation it should open doom.
i paid around £10 on AE for a generic brand one and it done its job fine, carplay etc was great! fm option to connect it to the car speakers. i stopped using it as it drained so much battery on my phone when it was connected and found it was easier just using my phone as a satnav which used way less battery
You should have downloaded ARM version of Doom, you got MIPS version (a lot of Chinese trash tier devices used MIPS processors) and SH-3 (Hitachi SH processors were supported by WinCE, hell, Dreamcast has WinCE on it and it used a SH-4 processor).
mips and sh3 cpus were on very early pocket pcs, most of them use arm and so do embedded devices like this. He tried both sh3 and mips.. no surprise it didn't work.
It looks like this runs Windows CE, why not try and get to the desktop and see what you can run?
It does, it's fun to try to bypass the front interface and get to the actual os, but it's not gonna be very useful as windows CE devices usually don't have the onscreen keyboard, so you cannot do much.. but you could mess it up.. You cannot delete files because they are in rom, but registry entries are in memory/ram. I went ahead and deleted certain registry keys on the touch panel at work.. after reboot it was unbootable. They got someone to reload/hard reset the os, but I did it again lol.
If you want to experience windows ce, you could get a pocket pc instead.. they are great.

for how slow it is, you probably would make it faster by following directions from strangers or signs lol. i would use it as a display tho, to me it's the only way to use it. as for the switch, i think it could be that the fm use the one you have on the car instead of having an actual fm module. that's why the audio wouldn't work, it will use the speaker car insted of its own. so dumb but so simple, probably you forget it belongs on a car :)
Yeah I am so used to testing devices that have FM Radio...I just assumed and it didn't even cross my mind until I worked it out.

i recently made a long road trip and didn't know the way, so because i didn't wanna put my precious S22 through hours of navigaiton i pulled the old S5 out of the drawer and connected it to hotspot. android 6 but still works fine in 2024. of course i don't know for how much longer. still, just goes to show that repurposing an old/cheap phone is a viable idea.
Oh gosh, iGo Primo... This brings back some very distant memories. You could run this very same app on a regular Win CE PDA with a GPS attachment and use it for navigation. This was way before smartphones became mainstream. Suprised they're still providing map updates.

It's funny how the best FM Transmitter I have seen in my life was the Nokia N78 one, not even dedicated FM Transmitters, like the Xiaomi Roidmi were nearly as good.

I had two of theese tablets(not xgody) but the motherboards are the same and my tablets did let me natively run windows CE they had a desktop button in the menu page
Enable FM - You just turned on the FM Modulator. Most of these Chinese WinCE GPS devices have one.
And yes, The Reset button is there for a Hard reset / Power cycle. it does not clear any settings. It is needed because wiindowsCE actually never shuts off in these devices.
You can buy cheap 7-inch touchscreens from big w, supercheap auto, etc these days, that have Android Auto and Apple car play built in, with reverse camera and everything. Laser is the brand sold by Big W.

the fm option is probably used to make a radio station, then tune in with your radio and use it as a rudimental Bluetooth hands free thing. there are many devices on amaz9n and others, that do exactly that. they make a station, you tune in, connect your phone with bluetooth to the device and listen it to the radio. although that means that people can just tune in and listen
I remember my first Android tablet also had an FM transmitter feature to be used for GPS navigation in a car. I enabled it and forgot about it, only later to discover that the sound had died on the tablet. A factory reset fixed it since it disabled the FM transmitter config.

it's slow because these gps devices made in late 2000s, or pocket pc gps attachments, do not pick up gps indoor, outdoor it will work just fine. If you meant the 2fps refresh rate.. yeah that's how it is, but it is usable.

This wouldn’t be that, it’s not rugged enough and probably be nice to have some offroad specific features and bonus features too. I’m still building this eBike out, but I can definitely go far enough to get pretty lost already if I’m following trails and dirt roads that are poorly marked. 😂

the reason why doom didnt run is because it was designed for x86 CPUs and that thing has an ARM cpu, so maybe if you can find a doom port for windows on arm it way work
Somebody managed to run doom on a keysight oscilloscope which ran windows Ce and an arm cpu (an older St arm cpu) so its possible

no it def was a stylus silo, it has resistive touch screen, makes sense for the tablet to have a sylus.
