    Thanks for this channel! My son bought a used Tiguan, appreciate your time sharing! For people doing brake jobs for the first time, it’s helpful to use a hi grade synthetic grease on certain parts of the brake pads that are in contact with caliper and also on the caliper guide pins. And as some other commenters suggested, loosen all the way your brake fluid reservoir because when you depress the caliper, you are forcing brake fluid back into the reservoir. If you added brake fluid since the last pad change, it can overflow so keep an eye on that. Thanks again!

    • @WHJeffB
      @WHJeffB 3 года назад +1

      @@ejsgarage I've done brakes before, 30+ years of car ownership and maintenance... Just hadn't done them on my Alltrack (but I've done VW and Audi brakes many times).
      Went OK... I live in the Northeast, which means snow/ice and road salt. The rotors had to be heated with a torch to get them off. The bolts than hold the caliper frame in place were VERY tight! Other than that, it went about as well as brakes will go. Saved a bunch of money for about 3 hours of work.
      FYI... The brakes on the front end of a Golf are a little different than those of the Tiguan. There are no springs to remove. Just the two bolts for the piston assembly and two bolts for the caliper frame. Oh yeah, a #30 Torx bit for the single screw that holds the rotor on the hub.

    • @ejsgarage
      @ejsgarage  3 года назад

      That is good that you were able to get it done in 3 hours. Good job and thank you very much for letting me the difference between the Alltrack and Tiguan.

    When you are putting drilled and slotted rotors you have to watch the directions of the slots. They are there for a reason. I think you put the right hand side rotor to left side and vise versa.

  • @bt6508
    @bt6508 5 лет назад +6

    Regarding loosen up the bolt caliper-handle direction of torque wrench downward for the right side and upward for the left side that you mentioned bizarre, i think it is based on known way bolt direction: loosening is counter-clockwise and tightening clockwise direction.

    New to the channel and no sure if u were joking or not but @6:40 " its really bizarre that on the left you have to bring it up and on the right u have to bring it down to loosen" lololol. No its not bizarre. its the same on every single car because no matter what side u are its still turn anti-clockwise to loosen... for pretty much any screw anywhere on anything in the world (except the few specificall made to be the opposite). U are literally turning both in the same direction.
