    A few comments from my experience driving my NX450h+ also since March 22.
    - Consumption : I have now ~7700km, and refilled 123l of gasoline in 5 times (last was early september).
    - EV range : living in a village that is surrounded by secondary roads, I don't often take highways. Quite an advantage for the NX450h+ : my record real distance was 93km in pure EV with air conditioning on ! At the end of the daily recharge, my guess-o-meter steadily displays a proud 103,3km / 98,1km with air conditioning, since mid september. These values seem to be the ceiling for me (it started from ~65km when I received the car). One precision : in EV, I drive in "normal" or "Sport". In HV, I drive in "ECO".
    - EV plug cover : if you meet the same issue as described (which I did several times) instead of opening and closing manually a door, you can just press once the open button on the key. Easier, faster.
    - Electronic door handle : I now systematically explain to new passengers, before starting to drive, that they need to push the button to open the door. Kids have no problem and, anyway, I enabled the children security on the rear doors ! As a regular user, I also find the e-Latch easier and more comfortable...
    - HUD vs non-HUD information : indeed, there is a little consolation for users of the non HUD versions, there are several additional information available in the multi-information display. Including trip information... This is a known issue for HUD versions and I think it could be fixed in a future version of the system (and Lexus will now have the additional pressure coming from the new RX 2023 owners, who will have the exact same system as in the NX).
    - EV/EH data : in Europe, we have these data in the app ("Lexus Link"). The only caveat is that not 100% of the data are transferred from the car to the app through the DCM... Some trips are not transferred for unknown reasons. A problem that Lexus/Toyota need to fix.
    - OTA updates : in Europe, we had 2 updates since March, one in May, one in June. The first did fix a very visible bug, but I did not see what the 2nd brought. We are expecting another update soon. Most importantly, we are expecting several bugs to be fixed, in particular the ones related to profile synchronisation. I am in discussion with Lexus Europe about a bug with the profile synchronisation that I can reproduce on demand and Lexus was not aware...
    - I would add one point : the LDA is now on by default. On my secondary winding roads, this has caused serious security issues when the car was correcting my trajectory automatically, unbeknownst to me, while I was avoiding obstacles on the right side of the road (once a bicyclist and once a construction equipment)... For me, this is THE most ennoying issue.
    For the rest, it's just pure pleasure !

    • @lsft
      @lsft  Год назад

      I feel the mobile app experience in North America is different from Europe and Australia.
      Thank you for the detail comments on your experience. I'm happy to see other NX owners and what their experience is with the NX. The LDA is on by default in Canada since day one. Even if it tries to correct the lane departure, I can force it to still to continue crossing the line. You do have to fight it a bit, but I get it - it can be annoying.

    Got mine 2 weeks ago. Non F-sport trim. Owned Lexus hybrids and couldn't wait for them to come out with a plug-in hybrid. Plug-in range for all I drive is more than enough. So far loving it. Wintertime where I live (PA) and 36 EV miles lasts a few days. I can use the level 2 charger when grocery shopping, so that adds a few miles until I'm done. Like other Lexus hybrids I've had before, the NX 450h+ is quiet, well-built and refined. Being able to use EV mode 98% of the time is great!

    • @lsft

      Great to hear you love your NX. The EV range lasts me Monday to Friday as I just go to the local gym and I work from home. Only on weekends I would drive further and sometimes go beyond the EV range. One thing I did notice is the engine is a bit loud, but that's because you are so used to the near silent EV drive any noise will feel noisy.

      Same. Weekends is when I go further than the EV range. If I go out and about. Everything is near me and definitely within the EV range.
      100% true about the engine. That sums it perfectly! Only when pushed hard do you hear it. Otherwise, the engine noise is like every other Lexus/Toyota hybrid I’ve owned while driving in HV mode.
      Near silent EV driving is fantastic! They will only improve on this first model year.

    Fuel reserve. Maybe it was addressed by someone in the comments or in following videos. Just FYI. We were able to find information on fuel reserve in the owners manual. US owners manual p.218(or “Refueling” chapter) in footnote “*1: The specified refueling volume to cause the warning light to turn off when the vehicle is level is approximately 2.6 gal. [10.0 L, 2.2 Imp.gal.]. This value may vary when the vehicle is on a slope. Add extra fuel when the vehicle is inclined.”

  • @johntobin3998
    @johntobin3998 Год назад +7

    Through the first 3 months, I've taken no extended trips, and have averaged 15 miles of daily driving. Consequently, I drive in EV mode almost exclusively. However, like another subscriber (Banner), I make it a point to occasionally drive in HV mode to "exercise" the engine, circulate its fluids, and refresh the gas before it goes stale. Also like Banner, I maintain only 2-3 gallons of gasoline in the tank for this purpose. Another benefit of maintaining a low gas tank, is 80-100 pounds of unnecessary weight in the vehicle. I'll fill the tank when I go on an extended trip.
    On charging, I typically charge my 450h+ every other day with its 3.3kw on-board charger and the 110 outlet in my garage ... yes, the slowest charging speed available. For my needs, the slow overnight charging works perfectly fine. From my experience, I restore about 6% of battery capacity every hour, and as I discovered, you can only use about 70% of the 18 Kwh battery in EV mode before it switches to HV mode. Finally, I drive about 65% city and 35% freeway and achieve 39-41 miles of EV range in "Normal" drive mode.

    • @lsft
      @lsft  Год назад

      John, the 3.3kwh charger is only used when you use a level 2 charger. When you charge 110V, it's always about 12 hours to fully charge with a 15 Amp plug.
      It's not good in the winter in Canada to only keep 2-3 gallons of gas as we sometimes could get stuck and when there is no gas/power, it will be dangerous. So in Canada, we typically will fill up the gas in the winter to ensure we have enough gasoline in the awkward winter months. In the summer it's ok to keep a half tank, we just need to make sure there is no condensation in the tank.

    • @midiman5045
      @midiman5045 Год назад +1

      Personality I would not go below a 1/4 of a tank. The fuel lubes and cools the fuel pump. It might wear it out sooner. I live in the city and driving local and added weight of the extra fuel is a waste
      But no lower than 1/4 should be good.

    Couple of things… yesterday I noticed new software update available. Just opened software update and there was a pop up. I did not complete it as I didn’t have time. Will do it later.
    Another thing with winter tires. I got Michelins xi3 from Costco on labour day with 20% off discount. I believe there will be another 20% off on thanksgiving day, October 10. I like buying from Costco because of their free 5 year road hazard warranty, free repairs and free balancing. That’s if you have a membership of course.

    I too use my car little ...I bought one of the First 450h+ F Sports in February and put 1000 miles to drive it to Texas(you could Only buy this car in the USA in California & Florida / Smog compliant states)......so in 8 months my odometer reads 4110 miles ...However, it is only 3010 since arriving at my home in Texas apparently I have driven less miles than you This will be my Norm...as for Gas I use this vehicle different than you....I only keep approx 3 gallons in the tank Jus' to fire the ICE / circulate the fluids periodically.....The rest is Quiet efficient plug in to 120V.
    Curious about Car Color choice ...Has the Orange color worn on you or do you still like it? I have had Bright Color cars i.e. RED...and I found the color after a period of time was too bright! I do however have the Circut Red interior...finding I REALLY Like the Red & Black contrast against the Carbon Fiber consul and trim very sporty and refreshing!

      I still love the orange. My previous NX was the ultrasonic blue and I will loved it for the 4 years owning it.

    Have you noticed issues with the chordless recharger? I place my iPhone on it - the little light turns orange, but after a while it stops charging. Is that what it should do or is it a bug?

      I didn't have any issues with my previous iPhone 11. iPhone 14 does have issues. Unfortunately, the camera bump is causing the issue. My next video will be the iPhone 14 Qi update.

      They recommend premium gas. It's not necessary, but fuel in the tank for that long I'll prefer to have premium
