      at that point forward, Nintendo no longer chased for power, they chased for fun, that’s why the Nintendo Switch rn is “underpowered”, Nintendo realized theres a whole lot a non gamers that with their systems, they can make those people buy their products and have a great experience with their new product(s), which may be why Nintendos controls are different (eg: wiimotes, ds touchscreen, joycons,etc), Nintendo was one of those companies where they tend to revolutionize their industry, while yes they do have a bad rep today, without them, the gaming industry would be different than today.

    I know the DS and the iPhone use totally different technology, but I really do think in terms of concept the iPhone probably owes a great deal to the DS in terms of its demonstration that touch control could work as an in-demand product on the mass market. A lot of folks today forget just how obscure touch screen control really was as a consumer technology prior to the DS: it's something which showed up on some ATM machines and those little touch-screen minigame systems at bars and restaurants. And the touch control was consistently poor in its responsiveness- you had to really press two or three times to select what you wanted to select. That was fine for its uses then, but Nintendo demonstrated that it was actually feasible to create intuitive touch technology with super-speedy response rates, such that it actually worked as an interface.

    That reaction in 2004 told us games were flocking to the system. 3DS has been very slow in terms of third party software. At E3 2011 they didn't show any third party titles like they did in 2005. But they are shaping up this year. More developers in Japan will develop games for 3DS.

DS was great and Reggie was amazing but i remember this moment and time and all i remember was everyone was struck by the zelda reveal. Its like everyone saw it and everyone had to ask each other if they saw it and they couldnt say much more than "This is gonna be AWESOME". It pretty much launched as advertised but it didnt resonate as much as youd think it should but that reveal though. Nintendo was a company in trouble when Reggie took the stage that day and when he left, Nintendo was what everyone was talking about again.

      It just a more rugged looking system,and it got bigger hinges that will not wear out like the
      DS Lite or DSi did. Matte finish keeps the console from getting too much fingerprints and scratches. And it got some weight to it.

    • @lorumipsum1129
      @lorumipsum1129 8 лет назад

      Barebare kun I think it's more reliable, I've gone through 6 lites and they broke easily, I have two DS phats and they work just as good as new.

    I remember how fucking stupid I thought this thing was and how dumb an idea it was to have two screens. With the PSP coming and being more powerful, I thought it was over. I got a PSP launch day. Got two games for it, then GTA came out. Fuck it, I was a DS, Zelda and Mario Kart. Regretted getting that PSP.

      DS and PSP had the same problems though, at least for me. The Metroid on the DS was a shitty attempt at a Metroid Prime game, with awkward as hell controls and bad physics. The Ratchet and Clank game on the PSP was a shitty attempt at a portable sequel with shitty controls and awkward physics....And both because instead of being made by the actual studios who made the originals, they were carted off to some backwater studios who were the only ones who really knew how to make a game for the consoles at the time. So all around, I was disappointed...

      A little tardy to the party. Miitomo came out less than a month ago. Mobile games have been causing Nintendo to lose an incredible amount of money (and the other gaming giants too). Mobile games have been dominating the market since 2008 (keyword: dominating). Nintendo's very late on that trend.

    There targeting the new one for next march 2011 but keep an mind the 3DS now has a new 128 bit GPU that renders bigger worlds and better graphics while the old DS had a 64 bit GPU so games will take longer to make on the new one than the original DS series which expained the longer release date vs original DS release date.
