    This song is the best that this line up offered--great crazy Roger Waters lyrics and vocals, awesome back singers, a sweet David Gilmore Stratocaster guitar solo, lots of moods, awesome backing track, killer track! The background singers make the tune!

    Not now john. Nice one fella. Hopefully you plan on doing stuff from Obscured By Clouds soon. Some stuff from Waters' solo albums would be nice too. Should also check out The Cure. Songs like A Forest or Pictures Of You. Even The Stranglers would be a good shout :)

    Halfway thru the making of this album Dave and Rog recorded their parts seperately.Nick was replaced on Two suns by Andy Newmark.The only thing that made this album Pink Floyd was Dave’s singing half the lead on Not Now John,his guitar solos and Nicks drumming on a few songs

  • @delorangeade
    @delorangeade 5 лет назад +2

    Waters at his most vitriolic. I love it for being so much of it's time, but it also points the way towards Waters'solo masterpiece Amused to Death. I also love it for the parody of Brits abroad on the outro. For a different take on the Falklands War maybe listen to Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits.

    The final cut, is great. My absolutely fav floyd album. Do it fully pls, i have been waiting for so long for you to continue this album! pls ♥
    Edit: it's a concept album, like drak sidel or animals, is not a full story like the wall but it all fits and two suns in the sunset is a great ending.
    I absolutely reccomend for you to try to listen to it in order!

  • @DannyD714

    the final cut is part sequel to the wall and part commentary on the fauklands war between england and argentina. roger,like a lot of brits,was opposed to the war,and saw it as stabbing those who lost their lives in WWII in the back. maggie thatcher was trying to flex her muscle by mounting a major assault on a group of islands that had nothing on them but sheep. senseless in every sense of the word.
    i love the lines "gotta bring the russian bear to his knees.....well, maybe not the russian bear, maybe the swedes". yeah made yourself look real tough didn't it maggie?

  • @Grithron2
    @Grithron2 5 лет назад

    This song is a portrayal of the stereotypical British worker abroad - the funny part of it is the end. Now as then, Brits are unable to memorise the most basic tourist-y phrases in foreign languages!
    Re the comment by Luke Wagstaff - So far there's been two (proper) King Crimson reactions on RUclips - one of them (a guy reacting to Starless) got past the censors by cutting bits out of the song. Someone else managed to get an uncut reaction to Level Five (nice!) - which confirms what we already know, that they're not so stringent about uploading of live and/or ROIO material.
    I'm waiting for someone unfamiliar with King Crimson's Fracture to react to that onscreen (Gottingen '74 version perhaps?)

    l didn't even know l owned this album, until l found it in a box-set of their's.....that l had bought several years ago. i had always heard that it was a terrible album, comprised of rejected material from 'The Wall'. Stuff that a very bitter Roger Waters had released.....after....he walked away from Pink Floyd. And THlS was the ONLY song on the entire thing, that l sort of liked. Because l think it's the only one featuring David Gilmour on vocals.....along with a bit of his guitar.

    • @rhobgoblin3234
      @rhobgoblin3234 5 лет назад +1

      It's a divided album that used rejected songs from the wall to a large degree, that's totally true, but even their rejects are great songs. It was hastily put together when the Falkland conflict began, and that was something most of the band just didn't want to do at the time, they had another plan initially. That doesn't mean it's terrible, but it is the nail in the bands coffin at the time and that probably rubs many the wrong way. You know that's one time I never noticed the difference in their vocals, David comes off a little like Rogers heavier sound, and that blows my mind because any song I can pick them out usually with ease, I NEVER noticed that was David, Roger can manipulate his voice a lot I just assumed he did here.

  • @jasonhahn5475
    @jasonhahn5475 5 лет назад

    Although I am a die hard Pink Floyd fan, I've never particularly liked this song. I guess in the back of my mind I felt Roger was trying to regurgitate the sound and feel from songs on The Wall. I detected "Run Like Hell", and "Young Lust" in that song. I just felt it was just kind of cranked out for profit, and is a blemish on my opinion of them.
    To be fair,... It does sound a lot like Roger's solo stuff. It would fit right in on Radio Kaos. It's a common theory that The Final Cut was all Roger. Perhaps this song is the origin of that theory.

    I think "not now John" is the only good part in a quite mediocre album. The final cut is really a boring album. Sorry guys...
    And don't forget to react to:
    The Warning - survive
    Motion Device - thick skin
    Thanks!
