    Hello, thanks for your useful advices! I’m an Iranian lawyer but I don’t prefer to take bar exam here, I want to come to USA and continue my practice over there, so as you said my Bachelor degree and not having bar licence is enough for applying LLM and then taking the nar exam, isn’t it?

    for most of those foreign Lawyers especially those experienced ones who have the dream to become a U.S. licensed Attorney, prepare yourself for a rough awakening. First you need to pass a TOEFL English Exam, you need to pass an LSAT, you need to take an LL.M at this point you will begin to learn and experience how your status as a lawyer will be diminished and despised; They will make your life miserable, it is a very treacherous road to pass even to get to sit for the bar, where you will be no more than a regular barely inexperienced just graduated student as the rest of the other 500 applicants but with the set back of having a foreign degree. Some States such as New York and Washington seem to be the only option for the bar as they seem to be "lighter" in grading. But there are others, Arizona, Texas etc. where your possibility will be reduced significantly, it is very expensive so you need to have some good savings in your pocket and no guarantee to pass it nor refund to reclaim. Now even if you were to pass the exam, prepare yourself too for a long road of applications, prejudice and discriminative interactions you will have so by the time if you are lucky enough to land a job if you ever can you will grow grey hair. ... Good Luck.

    Hi Atty. Janella, thank you very much for the video. It is very informative. I have obtained an LLB degree from the Philippines. I do have questions and I hope you can respond to them. 1. For the evaluation of the eligibility, do you recommend that the letter from the law school also reflect that I have obtained an undergraduate degree (e.g. AB Political Science)? If yes, is it required to also send a certificate from CHED or from my undergraduate university? OR 3. A letter from my law school certifying that I have completed the program with X number of hours or credits and the certified copy of the TOR will suffice? Again, thank you very much, and I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hi! Sorry for the late response! You don’t need to go to law school in your country. You can apply to law schools in the US If you graduated with a bachelor’s degree or a college degree (typically 4 years).
      You would need to study and take the Law school admissions test (LSAT) and choose a school to apply to. You can register for free in the LSAC website. www.lsac.org/lsat hope this helps!

    Hi Atty. I’m JM. Just finished my final year in law school and now a JD. Pwede po ba ask if it isn’t too much, kung san pwede mag apply for paralegal positions online. Perhaps you can direct to websites where they accept JD from the Philippines? Thank you very much! 😊

    • @atty.janellaloaiza8754
      @atty.janellaloaiza8754  2 года назад

      Hi JM. Congratulations! That's great. Kung meron kang specific state in the U.S. na you want to start working I suggest you start there. So example sa Washington DC you can check dchr.dc.gov/page/careers
      Typically, per state merong mga human resources websites. You can use their search tools to narrow it down. use key terms like "paralegal" or "law clerk"
      A more effective way though is looking into private practice/ law firms in the area you want to be in. Mas maganda kasi kung may actual na person kang makaka usap even through email.
      So kung may napili kang state, next is city within that state. Saka mo tignan yung mga surrounding areas para yun yung mga una mong tgnan na locations. Then search sa google kung merong mga law firms in that area. After you find law firms, look at their websites. Typically, sa top right corners merong options na "CAREERS" dun nila pinopost yung job openings nila.
      Just send applications every chance you get. Medyo numbers game din siya. The more you submit the more chances of winning kung baga.
      Like for this law firm, makikita mo careers www.crowell.com/careers

      prepare yourself for responses such as . To be a paralegal you have to have certification as a paralegal, because if you are a lawyer in your country you will be overqualified to be a paralegal, but underqualified to be a lawyer.

      if you are planning to stay and litigate in the u.s. Is not worth it.... You will have a treacherous and miserable road to walk and at the end if you do pass the exam it will be very hard for you to find a job, Prepare yourself. Now if you stay in your country after the L.L.M that you can answer that question better than anyone, it pretty much depends how they honor it and if there will be a significance difference between the LL.M you do in the U.S. with all its implications and one you can do locally.
