you're thinking backwards. They should multiply charges given instead of fucking around with other things in the game. Give it 5 carges instead of 1, so that would drop usage price to about 150 gp per hit.
Probably make it 300 charges for 300 blood and 1 vial of blood to lower the cost for the standard scythe and then if they want the fang to be the accurate weapon then they could include an upgrade to the scythe which they could either add a healing mechanic and make it a sustain weapon or they go with a more offensive set with 66 and 33 over 50 and 25 and increase the range to 2 like a hally which could open up some interesting tactical uses in group PVM
Way too expensive to use, only worth using if you have wayyy too much money, or are doing something that using the scythe = more profit at, which is almost nowhere

It was suppose to have one when it came out but forgot to add it when they copied it from the holiday event scythe (confirmed by Mod Ash). It's well known that its a bug but they don't want to fix it as stupid as it is. It literally has 70 stab bonus
Pretty clear that the biggest issue is the cost for using the scythe. The bow has no upkeep cost and the shadow more than makes up for the cost of the upkeep with having so much more damage potential on a variety of mobs that scythe lacks. Not to mention you can forgo the autocasting if you really really want to save a buck on short trips with certain bosses. The bow and the shadow both have an impressive passive effect that easily outstrips the 130% average melee damage potential the sythe outputs. Which only makes it less desirable as your go-to option for high end combat.

The only places where i'd consider using it it GG, Sarachnis and ToB... where as an iron, its not really worth the cost at sarachnis and bortherline worth for GG. A good solution would be to reduce the cost of the scythe. Either by making an option to rend the scythe eternal, but untradeable for a high cost (let's call it 100k charges or even 500k charges). That would not only make it more viable to use everywhere, but also remove some from the game to reduce the price. Maybe i have an ironman bias xD

Isn’t scythe basically essential for a bunch of combat tasks in order to get your required dps? Scythe is a great option if you’re willing to pay, no different than people wasting gp on a tentacle whip for normal slayer monsters, there’s always going to be someone telling you you’re either doing it all wrong or you’re playing ez-scape

I used to use it a lot at nightmare now that inquis drops are so low its not worth it. jagex could have made like aka or the baboon in toa weak to crush so scythe and inquis get some value back but jagex failed to do so

One thing worth noting is that the 900k cost per hour assumes a solid hour of uninterrupted attacking, which never happens at any boss so the realistic cost per hour is lower than that. It's good at a lot of bosses, and I think anywhere it's best in slot, the cost is worth it. I think the main problem people have with it is that it's only good in a few of the top pvm places, but it's good at quite a few mid tier bosses and slayer tasks.
Tl;Dw (from personal experience, as broken as it is for melee) It's f******* USELESS anywhere outside ToB, apart from Chambers Tekton, only when low def and Olm melee hand.
Things to bear in mind: - The scythe is twice as common as tbow droprate wise - Theatre of blood was farmed to death for 4 years straight due to lack of high level pvm content and being the best money maker in the game. - Scythe has not seen much use in recent content which will always tank it's cost further
I think a slight buff to its dps let's say it averages 8dps(complete guess just an example) bring it up to 8.3-8.5, and you could also reduce the cost to charge it to fall more in line with the other 2 raids god weapons. Both or either of these changes would make it feel worth while over the fang for its price tag and upkeep costs
Possibly unpopular opinion, but I think exactly nothing should be done about the Fang. It's great that an extremely powerful lategame-tier weapon which unlocks practically completing much of the most challenging and interesting content in the game is so available relative to its other high-end counterparts. This gets newer players on the high-end PVM ladder faster and gives ironmen something awesome to go for which isn't an obscenely long expected grind (dozens of hours versus hundreds or thousands) and opens up their options enormously. All of those are unmitigated benefits to both the game and its community. The only, I repeat ONLY downside is devaluing the banks of players who are already extremely wealthy. People who are already able to do all the content in the game, and who will frankly also benefit from the meta shakeup just for the change of pace. I have a 2b+ bank. No scythe, but prior to the GE tax my Twisted Bow had lost 200m from the time I got it. Did I care? No, absolutely not. One Twisted Bow is worth one Twisted bow to me, and frankly to every other high-end account. When the Fang released, I grinded one out myself instead of buying one because I wanted to do the new content with what I already had. Now I have 5 of them in my collection log, and don't care that they've sold for progressively less. That means 4 other players have gotten to experience an awesome weapon, for less than what I paid to get Rigour. That's great, and makes the game objectively better for everyone.
