@@AnywhereGoes Yea I’m a local as well, I kinda think our city is like a hidden gem as other east is more famous. It is just fun to explore Perth sometimes.
I've just discovered you guys. I'm a Canadian of a certain age, (that's boomer for 'older guy'). I came to Australia in the mid 60s are a 16 year old, and settled in Adelaide, South Australia. I fell in love with both the city, and the state of South Australia. Mind you, the first five years was a near vertical learning curve. When my two sons were young we'd go camping as a family every school break and the summer holidays. Not to some organized camp ground, but out to the middle of nowhere. And if there is one thing Australia has in abundance, it's middle of nowhere. To camp in the desert in the cooler, dry months, lying in a swag at night looking up into the heavens, and seeing millions upon millions of stars, is a spiritual experience. Don't just see the cities and the usual tourist attractions. See also the Outback. Go to Uluru, see Cairns and the Barrier Reef. Take a guided camping trip through Kakadu. If you are up to it, go see Tasmania in a car. Driving on the left is not that hard. I do it all the time.
We only got to visit 3 states this go around, and we were pretty limited because of time and finances. But you essentially listed off our bucket list for our next trip! You may be older but I think we're cut from the same cloth! Thanks for the nice comment, we're excited to go back.
I'm happy they came to Perth which, like Adelaide, doesn't receive much international PR. The Kimberley and Ningaloo are great places to visit. I'm originally from Adelaide. Why didn't you mention SA attractions?
It's always great to hear and see what visitors think of our city. We live here, so it's like, yeah, whatever. For example, most in Perth complain incessantly about our public/metro transport, but I recently saw another Canadian RUclipsr do a critique of our suburban train system (existing and under construction) and rated it highly compared to some other comparable cities. An outsider's viewpoint is always interesting. So, yep, overall the pretty city in the west isn't a bad place at all. Thanks for visiting.
Tom here, I am obsessed with transit systems and seeing ones like in Perth, that are built and run to actually help their people is incredible! The CAT alone blew my mind!
most people don't know worse so they complain about little things, it's all relative. Transperth is decent in my opinion, can go essentially everywhere metro pretty easily, facilities are usually clean enough and prices aren't too bad especially if you use smartrider or have concession, rolling out a new system soon too.
Perth grows on you, it is laid back but the quality of life is pretty high. As the weather gets warmer head to Fremantle, Cottesloe, Scarborough and Hillary’s.
Awesome, you spent a very decent amount of time here in Perth. Most just see it as a stop over, or a fleeting visit. Youll notice how quiet and more laid back we are here in Perth as you tour the rest of the country. Totally different city to most of the others.
Welcome to Perth , my sister is one of the volunteer bell ringers you mentioned :) , they also ring bells at a few churches , for weddings , as volunteers.
Great video. Hope you got explore more of our beautiful city such as freo and the beautiful beaches we got. A little history lesson for ya if you didn’t know it during your visit to the Optus stadium and bushland it was formerly a golf course 😊
We have videos for Freo and Rotto coming up next 😉 WA is absolutely incredible, we're so jealous you get to call it home- we'd love to live there one day! We didn't know that, that's awesome. We did check out Heirisson Island to visit the kangaroos around there too 😄

I am an aussie but lived in other countries since I was 23. It's always nice to see things from another persons perspective. I laughed at the "2nd" emu bush. It does look like the back of an emu. When growing up, Perth was just too far away, considered boring & not worth the 4hr flight unless working there. It began to gain the attention of the rest of the country in the late 80's. I'm vegetarian but... did you really eat a COLD aussie meat pie- as your first? OMG! LOL Kudos that you managed to understand all the rules of cricket after a few YT videos. :P It is my fav. aussie sport.
We're so glad we went! We know it's pretty isolated but it's such a great city! I mean... It wasn't cold cold. But yeah, we've had better since. And cricket is pretty awesome!
I got choked up at seeing Boola Bardip featured and called by its name correctly. Thank you for showcasing my home city and I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
if you come to Melbourne, you have to do a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (aka the MCG), theres lots of history and its Australia's largest stadium - with a capacity of 100,024 ! :) Loved this video also, looking forward to more!
This just came up on my feed, so interesting to see what tourists think of our city. This video just made me appreciate my home a lot more and I hope it can convince my friends on the East Coast to come visit. Just need a part 2 to show the rest of WA if there isn’t one already. Hopefully you guys have tried that pie again with tomato sauce though ! That was the only part of the video I cringed at 🫣🤣
Glad you enjoyed it! We absolutely loved spending time there. It was pretty good but we had a few more fresh and tomato sauced pies since then which we loved.
Great vlog & a small snippet of what the Perth has to offer. The city stretches some 123kms along the coast & 62kms inland and the beaches & sunsets are breathtaking. Climate is perfect and WA is the 2nd largest State on the planet (Sakha in Russia being the largest). The WA coastline stretches some 13,000kms excluding the many islands (21,000kms including islands) so a massive place to explore. The contrasting landscape from spectacular Esperance in the south to majestic Broome in the Kimberley's up north is extrordinary but us locals take it all for granted Hope you got to spend a decent bit of time experiencing how we live in our most isolated city in the world (just how we like it and our blessed lifestyle is our best kept secret) Enjoy
Thank you! Had we not been working Canadian hours and had a vehicle, we would've LOVED to venture out to see more of WA. We drove 2500km/30hr to the Yukon in Canada and that's about the same as Perth to Kimberly, so that would've been an easy sell of a road trip for us! We'd love to come back one day and do it proper, so here's hoping 🤞 And I do feel blessed to be let in on the best kept secret that is the awesomeness of WA! - Angel

Great great video. Thankyou for showing so well my awesome home. You really showed it of well and gave out excellent information about Perth and WA. I’m so happy you came all the way over here to Perth. Extremely cool of you both.
You need Tomato Sauce/ Ketchup on those pies. Tastes totally different with it and better. Thats our basic pies, theres plenty of choice out there as a substitute aswell.
Perth doesn't have a lot of tourists they have holiday makers. The whole state evolved around families and as a parent you see it everywhere you go. A lot of warm to hot weather, incredible outdoor lifestyle, incredible nature and the flora is at a whole new level. Perfect place for traveller's with kids who also want to just have an Australian experience topped with a lay back holiday.
Ok, if you ever get back to Australia you have to try the meat pie again. Firstly it must be hot and they are way better bought from a bakery. The final thing is a lot of people eat it with tomato sauce on top. Some of the more specialty pies, say like a curry pie you might not put tomato sauce on. You'll just have to try it out to see if you like it. I love it. Tomato sauce is similar to Ketchup.
