She fooled herself into thinking she was in love. Once she becomes Harley Quinn, as she once noted in the comics, she played dumb for Joker's sake so that she could reshape herself in an image she assumed he would love the most.
The best part about this is the fact that it's coming from the messed up, twisted mind of the Joker. That means that there is no way to tell whether this is true or not, just like the comic. The Joker isn't known for his honesty!
+DrkBlueXG Dude the Killing Joke is a classic story, EVERYONE, from cartoons to games, uses some variation of this as Joker's origin story. But the Joker himself says sometimes he remembers it different ways.
+DrkBlueXG No, it doesn't give it more validity. That's the point of being The Joker. These games aren't canonical anyways and neither was The Killing Joke. Only certain aspects, like Barbra getting paralyzed and becoming Oracle carried over to canon.
"Your laughter reverberates off the walls of your own emptiness" That piece of dialogue is personally the best piece of dialogue i've herd from Troy Baker's Joker. As for Mark Hamill i think the "Twinkle, twinkle little bat, watch me kill your favourite cat" from Arkham city is the best of Mark Hamill's Joker.
Or "Whats your worst fear, Bats!? Failing to take back the Asylum? Not saving the Commissioner in time?! ME!? IN A THONG?!? HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!" -Arkham Asylum
It's kind of interesting, seeing Joker actually being completely honest about what he's thinking and feeling. Surely he omits a bit to get Harley on his side, but it's an interesting look into his psyche that nobody but Harley ever really gets to see.
to the people saying "she fell in love with joker because he was talking about batman" you have poor observation skills, the whole time Harleen thought the joker was taking about her, and also they shared the same philosophy.
I didn't quite think she thought that (though it did cross my mind), but I could clearly see where he seduced her to feel empathy for him and knew darn well it had nothing to do with Batman.
Someone very, very special, but whose real name I don't even know yet! Many years later... What's the matter Batman? No witty comeback? No threat? Then I'll provide the narration. But all too soon the serums and the shocks took their toll... and the dear lad began to share such secrets with me, secrets that are mine alone to know... Bruce. It's true Batsy! I know everything! And kinda like the kid who peeks at his Christmas presents, I must admit, it's sadly anticlimactic. +Ninjamaster227 I don't think there was much hate at all about the story. It's somewhat hard to mess up Batman these days. Most of the hate was towards the bugs, controls, and hollow feeling while actually controlling Batman.
Matthew Stryletz Wasn't the main problem in Knight to most people the focus on so many Batmobile segments? That really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, mostly due to the fact that you didn't NEED to use it as much as the devs obviously wanted you to... at least outside of the side missions that involve it (like those stupid ass Riddler courses). Origins' problems for a lot of people were in the heart of the game, that being while playing as Batman lol. Had there been less Batmobile segments in Knight, and Origins had less QTE and forced mashing segments, both would have probably been beloved all the more lol.
Well, 10 years ago i did a presentation in front of class for my sociology work about batman (teacher randomly selected characters for the class and i got lucky to pick my second fav hero), and that day i got A+ (here the grade is 10/10) and a bunch of girls from my class actually began to fell interested in me (a nerd talking about the psychological e sociological aspects of a character actually managed to make girls fell aroused, lol). I don't know why people are bitching on Batman Origins, The graphics are awesome, voice acting is great , and imo the joker looks better in origins than in asylum/city/knight.Still can't decide if Origins or Knight is my favorite batman game. (by the way I loved all the 4 arkham games)
This was probably my favorite mission in all of the Arkham games. I'm not sure why but it was completely different than anything that the storyline entailed and wasn't essential to the story at all but it was strangely beautiful.
That scene with the Joker beating up people in that bar...it's set with "The Thieving Magpie". I remember another scene of a beating under the Thieving Magpie. A scene involving ultra-violence.
In this scene we see the Joker describing in rich words his love for Batman and Haley thought he was talking about her, that's why she fell in love with him and became Harley Quinn. Joker's obsession with Batman made him crazy when they first met because he saw in Batman some of himself or even himself entirely. He felt lonely throughout his whole life, like he couldn't relate to anyone really and everything changed when he met Batman. HE LOVES BATMAN, hes obsessed with him and, believe it or not, he wants to help him in his own twisted fucked up way.
05:06 - I was always sure that when Joker talked about "someone very special but whose name I don't even know yet" he was actually talking about Batman but Harley thought he was referring to her.
I realize that it's rushed for the sake of saving the game from filler... But still, where did Harley get her Psych degree? 5 minutes of calm talking undoes years of study and practice? hahaha.
Bakesale59 I think it was said that she didn't really actually earn her degree in a totally legit manner and often relied on her looks to get what she wanted. (citation needed)
newphew92 perhaps. I've honestly never read an origin in the comics for her. Plenty of New 52 and Suicide Squad under my belt with her, but the animated series is the only origin I'm familiar with, and I haven't seen that in years.
Bakesale59 Dont think of Origins as truly canon. More like a retelling of events from an unreliable narrator. Neither Paul Dini nor Sefton Hill had anything to do with this game, and thats sad since their Arkamverse was Batman close to perfection. Im pretty sure the only reason Origins was made was because Warner Bros wanted to capitalize more on the previous games, and wasn´t willing to wait the 4 years development would take to the next generation. The writers on this game was from Assasin´s Creed, who shit on their own story material for every new game. the director was your average sandbox dude. The entire game was a cash-grab
CurseCreep Rocksteady confirmed that AO is canon. But yes, it wasn't initialy planned to be made and WB ordered a prequel game because AK took so long.
I gotta say, in DC, Joker and Batman are my favorites. I feel like they really show the two sides of a person. It really shows the strengths and the weaknesses of a person.
i like how they use the story as a psychological journey for the Joker here, rather than as an actual back story. To me the Joker not having a real origin story makes him even more interesting. I get tge mystery will make people want to come up with one, but i personally find it one mystery best enjoyed unsolved.
+Justin Biggs plus his origins were jokes. it makes the most sense to me that the identity of Batman's greatest foe is the one mystery forever illusive to him.

She fooled herself into thinking she was in love. Once she becomes Harley Quinn, as she once noted in the comics, she played dumb for Joker's sake so that she could reshape herself in an image she assumed he would love the most.
ThePato2007 Nice job. You figured it out.
M. Exploision Read that in the jokers voice.
The best part about this is the fact that it's coming from the messed up, twisted mind of the Joker. That means that there is no way to tell whether this is true or not, just like the comic. The Joker isn't known for his honesty!
true, but having it told twice by the comic and then this does give it more validity than others.
+Megalodon "One day it's one thing, the next it's another, if I'm going to have a past I prefer it to be multiple choice!"
+Battle Pope This guy gets it.
"Your laughter reverberates off the walls of your own emptiness"
That piece of dialogue is personally the best piece of dialogue i've herd from Troy Baker's Joker.
As for Mark Hamill i think the
"Twinkle, twinkle little bat, watch me kill your favourite cat"
from Arkham city is the best of Mark Hamill's Joker.
my favorite line from hamil is: Nice of you to say, but you of all people should know there's plenty wrong with me.
Finnex Movies I love the smile he gives after that line.
Or "Whats your worst fear, Bats!? Failing to take back the Asylum? Not saving the Commissioner in time?! ME!? IN A THONG?!? HAAAAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!" -Arkham Asylum
Troy is freaking genius. I could never tell that's him, he's so good. He was great as Batman too in Telltale games.
Bruce Snow it’s crazy how he can be Batman and joker lol
And even in the batman and ninja turtles movie too and the lego batman tv movies....they have him working
I have to keep reminding myself too. His range is amazing.
He's like a chameleon
Bad News-It's Not Mark Hamill!
Good News-It's Troy Baker!
Troy Baker is now also going to be voicing Batman in the Telltale game series.
+Medication102 Troy Baker is definitely 1A to Mark Hamhills 1
+Medication102 Wow I guess you can't play any games then seen as he voice acts for literally everything.
I didn't even realize it was him until I did a double take on the title, that's how good he is.
Mark will always be better
It's kind of interesting, seeing Joker actually being completely honest about what he's thinking and feeling. Surely he omits a bit to get Harley on his side, but it's an interesting look into his psyche that nobody but Harley ever really gets to see.

The way Joker talks about Batman and Harleen thinks it's her is very cleverly done.
Harley is just like Staples. That was Easy.
SpadaccinoLuciano 100th like
her: my names Harleen. harleen quinzel.
me: girl he in love with batman not you
to the people saying
"she fell in love with joker because he was talking about batman"
you have poor observation skills, the whole time Harleen thought the joker was taking about her, and also they shared the same philosophy.
I didn't quite think she thought that (though it did cross my mind), but I could clearly see where he seduced her to feel empathy for him and knew darn well it had nothing to do with Batman.
+Noel Ramos To the top with you!
Damn
Life perception changed forever
Duh.
I doubt anyone didn't get that.
All it takes is one Long speech about Batman...
Works everytime with the ladies
Makes you wonder why she has a crush on Bats.. lol
I love how romantic batmans relationship with the joker is
Me too
I ship it
So romantic Joker killed his Robin and paralyzed poor Barbara
I prefer to see it as two rivals fighting on a never ending game until one of them wins
@@thegrimrhino9871 killed? More like tortured over a year and turned him into the red hood
Someone very, very special, but whose real name I don't even know yet!
Many years later...
What's the matter Batman? No witty comeback? No threat? Then I'll provide the narration. I'll begin with how I peeled back the layers of the boy's mind. Oh he bravely tried to fight it at first. You would've been proud to see him so strong. Behind all the stern and batarangs you're just a little kid in a play-suit crying for Mommy and Daddy! It'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic... Oh what the heck! I'll laugh anyway! AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!
Yes! Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker! XD y
TPDManiacXC626 Damn you. You just made me realize how much I miss Mark Hamill's voice in this game.
TPDManiacXC626 *Batman jumps throw the window and bitch slaps joker*
If you don't like the movie, I got slides.
*Then Batman tosses him out the window then jumps him and grabs him by the neck.
I'll break you in two.
Oh ho Batman. If you had the guts for that kind of fun you'd have done it years ago. I on the other hand....
Batman falls to the ground
Edwin Ortiz It's over Batman. Robin is mine. the last thing you'll hear will be our laughter. Here you go sonny boy. deliver the punch line.
It is just me or Harley fall in love with him too soon?
yes i agree to that
LIONREV7
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codependency
LIONREV7 I get the strong impression that this took place over a multiple sessions. The break between the comedy house and the red hood bit is too unnatural.
Mehdi Lebowski this is a truncated version of the mad love harley origin story which is why it feels rushed in the aforementioned comic harley studies joker for months before she falls in love with him
***** he emotionally manipulates harley as for the florence nightengale effect yes the nature of her infatuation could be a result of the effect similarly to ww& steve trevor in the original ww original story
People talk crap about Arkham origins, but this scene was amazing. I loved how Joker basically painted the picture that it was always him and batman's destiny's to fight each other.
+Ninjamaster227 I don't think there was much hate at all about the story. It's somewhat hard to mess up Batman these days. Most of the hate was towards the bugs, controls, and hollow feeling while actually controlling Batman.
+foomp And yet, this game is mostly forgotten and not considered canon by the "fans" and Arkham Knight is given a pass.
Matthew Stryletz
Wasn't the main problem in Knight to most people the focus on so many Batmobile segments? That really wasn't as bad as people made it out to be, mostly due to the fact that you didn't NEED to use it as much as the devs obviously wanted you to... at least outside of the side missions that involve it (like those stupid ass Riddler courses). Origins' problems for a lot of people were in the heart of the game, that being while playing as Batman lol. Had there been less Batmobile segments in Knight, and Origins had less QTE and forced mashing segments, both would have probably been beloved all the more lol.
It has really good reviews though, so it is a BRILLIANT game, just in most people's opinions, not as good as the other games.
Mad hatters scene was pretty amazing as well visuals really played out in this game
How to get a girlfriend 101: talk about batman
Well, 10 years ago i did a presentation in front of class for my sociology work about batman (teacher randomly selected characters for the class and i got lucky to pick my second fav hero), and that day i got A+ (here the grade is 10/10) and a bunch of girls from my class actually began to fell interested in me (a nerd talking about the psychological e sociological aspects of a character actually managed to make girls fell aroused, lol). So i think that talk about the batman really work hahahaha

Joker: *I don't remember asking you a damn thing.*
At 4:16 you can see Joker's unborn child with Jeannie. My heart breaks everytime...
hooni chan actually its really sad. It shows how people are. Some react bad and lose theirselfs. And Some grows stronger
But i thought it was The Joker still as Red Hood. Formed himself looking like a fetus in a vat of chemicals, representing a rebirth into a Joker.
I thought that was his heart
It's JUST an idea that joker has for his past, it's not definite at all as his offical backstory.
@@Gadget-WalkmenIt can be in the Arkham Verse. I don't remember it quite well, but Joker's tone actually changed when He discussed about it with Hugo Strange during a interview in Arkham City. To make a valid point, this is all within the Joker's head, and He's not speaking about his backstory.
Hey, do you know how many billionares take to create a superhero?
No...
Three.. Two to die and one to never get through it
Who are those two?
@YamiXeno oh daaaaamn
@Oisin Van Niekerk she was just a GoldDigger
Lol
Wasn’t that from Arkham Knight?
Wait, so Harley fell in love with Joker because he was talking about Batman? Why does that not work in real life?!
No Harley fell in love with joker here because she thought the joker was talking about her
+Grinddor She fell in love with him because she thought Joker understands her and thinks they have the same conditions
+Paul Francis Goneda When in reality that couldn't be farther from the truth.
You guys do realize, that this was supposed to be a joke right?
+Grinddor It is hard for me to realize were they screwing with you or are they actually ignorant
I like how they show Batman at the end of this clip being incredibly disturbed by his encounter with Joker he truly never met someone so demented
I love how Joker is talking about Batman AND making Harley think that he's talking about her
i still don't know how this game receives hate

Shouldn't this be called One Bad Day instead of The Killing Joke?
When I played this bit through the very first thing that came to my mind is The Killing Joke. It also helps that I don't know the One Bad Day graphic novel.
The killing joke was the title for the first batman comic so maybe that's why
This comes from the Batman Comic the Killing Joke, watch the animated movie on it and youll understand this way more
he tells jokes before killing victims and at the end he says one before Batman (presumably) kills him
BUT He is recounting the day where he became the Joker - His One Bad Day
Troy did an absolutely amazing job.
When she said "I'm going to need more specifics" i was like
"she sounds familiar, kind of like Harl- Holy Shit!!!!!!!!"
Seriously? I actually saw that coming miles away, since the game was at the start.
+jeff peake The game is called "Arkham Origins". It is pretty obvious.
I always love how the Joker is a low key hella martial artist during the fighting scene.
they used the same fighting mechanics on all characters
notoriousbig3k Ooooh, ok. That makes sense. Thanks ": )
+notoriousbig3k not really, Jokers moveset is completely different
Never underestimate the power of clown fu
Troy Baker: Every bit as good of a voice for the Joker as Mark Hamill.
Troy Baker is damn good but I still prefer mark Hamil just that little bit more
still I can't complain he did an excellent job
+Niall Campbell imo I didn't really like Troy Baker's performance I just that he tried to copy Mark Hamel too much and wasn't his own Joker so to speak
+Zeke Luebeck whoops meant to write Hamil
Only young joker
But I still agree
perhaps Batman was the first and only person Joker could ever consider a best friend
this is alot like Frank Miller's Joker, how he's obsessed and even infatuated with batman, that they're fated to be together
4 year comment i know but a game on that comic would be awesome
"Always on my Mind" is a perfect song for Batman and Joker
By who?
***** I guess it depends on the genres of music you like since it's been covered by just about everyone.
+Juan Salinas Fair point... What genre would fit Joker? To me, he's like a rock or a metal kind of guy.
***** Not to me. Well there's different Jokers, but I don't think rock would fit the majority of them. Maybe Leto's?
We know Cesar's Joker like Beach and Party music. Jack's liked pop and hip-hop. I like to think Heath's listened to classical, but that's just me.
I think it's safe to say that the Pet Shop Boys cover of Always on My Mind is playfulness and ethereal enough to it to fit the majority of them.
Like Hellboy, Joker is a Tom Waits fan.
That look on his face when he realizes he can manipulate her
God Harley is such a pathetic character... She didn't even understand that he was talking about someone else. She deserves so much better.
This was before she was even Harley what're you talking about
and how tf is she supposed to know who he's talking about
itszaaaamzeh
No matter what name she goes by, she's still the same person.
Also, I'm not calling her pathetic for misunderstanding. I'm saying that it's pathetic that she fell in love with someone over a misunderstanding.
And, I think you think I'm talking about on a personal level. I'm not. I mean as a character. She's purposefully written to be pitiable and pathetic. It's sad and well written. I like it.
+TheDisarminghinkle She's no where near the same person here as Harley Quinn what are you talking about? She's not written pathetic she's written just as sane if not more insane than the joker.
itszaaaamzeh It's a part of her backstory. It's a part of her character. Are you also going to tell me that Bruce Wayne isn't Batman?
I don't know why people are bitching on Batman Origins, The graphics are awesome, voice acting is great , and imo the joker looks better in origins than in asylum/city/knight.Still can't decide if Origins or Knight is my favorite batman game. (by the way I loved all the 4 arkham games)
I think rocksteady did it better
Origins and City are the best for ke
I love how at the 3:00 mark they word it so Harley thinks he's talking about her.
***** It's kinda heavily implied though that this is a 'bat-boner' as Adam West would have put it
This was probably my favorite mission in all of the Arkham games. I'm not sure why but it was completely different than anything that the storyline entailed and wasn't essential to the story at all but it was strangely beautiful.
Joker got his rocks off talking about Batman to his therapist while she thought he was talking about her
joker got that accidentall rizz he wasnt even talking about her
That scene with the Joker beating up people in that bar...it's set with "The Thieving Magpie".
I remember another scene of a beating under the Thieving Magpie.
A scene involving ultra-violence.
+Krwzprtt was it by chance from a clock work orange? or the parody of said scene in southpark?
Derek Furst Yes, it's a clockwork orange. Why else would I use the specific term "ultra-violence"?
Krwzprtt it's been too long for me to remember stuff like that
Derek Furst At least you understood the reference, so I guess that's enough.
+Krwzprtt A beautiful homage to that scene in Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange in which Alex and his Droogs wipe the floor with Billy Boy and his Droogs.
I love how the Joker is speaking honestly about his madness here. How often does that happen?
harly was thinking he was in lover with her when really he was thinking about bat-ass lol
this design of joker is better than the rest
In this scene we see the Joker describing in rich words his love for Batman and Haley thought he was talking about her, that's why she fell in love with him and became Harley Quinn. Joker's obsession with Batman made him crazy when they first met because he saw in Batman some of himself or even himself entirely. He felt lonely throughout his whole life, like he couldn't relate to anyone really and everything changed when he met Batman. HE LOVES BATMAN, hes obsessed with him and, believe it or not, he wants to help him in his own twisted fucked up way.
Oul Troy Baker is a better joker than I thought, I'm pleasantly surprised.
it is kind of sad when harley thinks that the joker likes her but it was all batman that the joker think about
this isn't really the killing joke monologue, but this is my favorite sequence in the game
05:06 - I was always sure that when Joker talked about "someone very special but whose name I don't even know yet" he was actually talking about Batman but Harley thought he was referring to her.
5:17 joker: bitch im not talking about you
when he said 'whose name i dont know yet' and she replied with her one
Joker: Batman tho 😍👀😍👀😍.
Harley: OMG he loves me.
I realize that it's rushed for the sake of saving the game from filler... But still, where did Harley get her Psych degree? 5 minutes of calm talking undoes years of study and practice? hahaha.
Love is crazy mang.
Bakesale59
I think it was said that she didn't really actually earn her degree in a totally legit manner and often relied on her looks to get what she wanted. (citation needed)
newphew92 perhaps. I've honestly never read an origin in the comics for her. Plenty of New 52 and Suicide Squad under my belt with her, but the animated series is the only origin I'm familiar with, and I haven't seen that in years.
Bakesale59
Dont think of Origins as truly canon.
But yes, it wasn't initialy planned to be made and WB ordered a prequel game because AK took so long.
i love the story of joker n bats. Completely opposite but yet the same. that’s what makes these 2 so great.
I gotta say, in DC, Joker and Batman are my favorites. I feel like they really show the two sides of a person. It really shows the strengths and the weaknesses of a person.
Poor Harley, She through that Joker was talking about her.
When you're a hopeless romantic and you think someone is talking sweet about you but they actually mean that guy in tights dressed as a bat
In this game, the way the Joker looks, reminds me of how Prince looked in "Batdance."
ikr, i thought it was just me.
vicious bloodbath naw. leto one is actually worse
vicious bloodbath I think he's supposed to, that's how he looked in the comic.
The Joker after telling his - How you ever had One Bad Day? story.
D-Fens - lol.....noob.
nodinitiative "Falling Down" was a really underrated movie
My guy is literally a terrorist and STILL has more rizz than half of us.
He’s a terrorrizz
3:05 Do you know that you can through the fire with no harm? Yes, it is! Because all this in Joker's mind.
Interesting to see things from Joker's perspective for a change.
I like how Joker won’t let nobody kill Batman and Batman won’t let Joker kill himself. They really understand each other.
This is definitely the best and memorable part of the game. Why is this game is criminally underrated?! It’s really good!
I love this because you have no idea weather or not he's manipulating Harley or he's being honest and that's how he thinks
i like how they use the story as a psychological journey for the Joker here, rather than as an actual back story.
+Justin Biggs in the killing joke, the joker constantly creates new versions of his past to stop the pain and increase his madness
+mario alvarado yeah I think in a comic they call it "super sanity" he literally reinvents himself everyday
Troy Baker does a good job as joker but it's very irritating because I know it's not the Joker
agree
what?
Since you can tell it's not Mark Hamill it's very irritating
+Profajl Nejm how?
Because mark Hamil is like the godfather of the Joker voice!
This game is so God damn beautiful. Such magnificent animation in the cutscenes
My favorite segment of origins, and we didn’t even need it in the story for it to be a full game, let alone to be necessary at all
When you think about it, Batman is sort of psychotic in his own way, he has to be, in order to be running around in a billion dollar suit in a city fighting crime until his last breath without any sort of super power.
why aren't you laughing?!?!?!?
because I've heard it before
and I didn't laugh the first time
