  • In this episode of Insights, host Eric Hacopian analyzes Secretary of Armenia's National Security Council’s comments last week regarding the challenges Armenia faced last year. He also takes an in-depth look at what factors led to the ethnic cleansing of Artsakh and the widespread displacement of Armenians. Furthermore, Hacopian helps apportion responsibility for the outcome to key players and outlines reforms to prevent future issues.

Spot on analysis. It was very frustrating watching this slow motion train wreck over the years and not being able to do anything about it. We all saw the Azeri military build up and the inaction of the past and present Armenian governments. We lack a pool of good quality leaders with visions. What we have right now is a groveling virtue signaling man who few world leaders respect and many manipulate on the world stage. God help us.

The implication of the statement “other nations don’t find Armenia valuable” is “all other nations” which hews close to one of the variants of battered wife syndrome that Eric mentioned, or of the no confidence vote (for the homeland) diasporans.
Obviously the first implication is false as India and France (and don’t forget Iran) do in fact find Armenia valuable.

Надеяться не на Россию не на Запад не надо. Ветер политики изменчив. Надеяться можно только на свою армию. И не надо раздрожать Россию и что то ей пытаться доказать.

At the risk of sounding like Mr. Mahon ("Bret screwed Bret"), one thing that must not be glossed over is how the political AND RELIGIOUS leaders of Artsakh trashed Pashinyan over and over, with every opportune moment. In a significant sense, Artsakh lost Artsakh. Im not even talking about the "Karabagh Mafia" references from the 1990s. Also, Armenia not recognizing Artsakh formally was nothing pure of self destruction. No amount of Russian pressure should have relieved Armenian "leaders" of doing the right thing, mainaining some semblance of legitimacy from the Karabagh Movement and "autonomy" era.
Armenia had a choice, and love and hate who and what you want, but the current drift away from the Russian Sphere of Influence is not only long overdue, but deaerves the respect of all political leaders. And if the idiots in Echmiadzin knew church history, they would LEAD the charge against Russian dominance.

    • @qlr949

Lest we forget, Russia has never promised the Armenian church independence...not from 1980-1915, 1915-1920, nor since. And today the Armenian church is a shame to the memory of Vazgen I and others who walked the thin line.
