When EJ plays those liquidy pentatonic runs, it kinda reminds me of Coltrane in his 'sheets of sound' phase, perhaps doubly so because EJ's overdriven sound is so smooth it kinda even sounds like a saxophone, especially on those fast legato runs.
The rosewood model is really awesome when i first recognized there is a one i simply checked it out at our guitar store with not much believe in that topping the maple one. But actually when i first played it i just fell in love with it and bought one in (aqua firemist). I understand that some people doesnt like the bound neck but actually it looks kind of cool. So guys just check it out u wont regret it .
i agree, the binding is unique. i have always preferred 60's strats due to the rosewood fretboard, slightly thinner neck, and hotter pickups. if only there was an EJ model in fiesta red it would be my perfect guitar.
Anybody know if this is a specific tune at '4:30' ? Can't get enough of that, maybe someone can speak to what he's got layered over the guitar (pedals/effects) to get that tone?
Not getting enough of it myself , i actually learned it by ear ! he's using chorus and delay set at 4200 ms and a compressor ! and of course the famous echoplex ! but you can use any reverb !
@Sam Gillett 4 years too late but in his Clean tone chain he's going Strat > mxr dyna comp (> loop box for switching in/out the Deluxe memory man) > Boss DD 2 > TC Stereo Chorus > two Fender Twin Reverbs (or sometimes 2 Deluxe Reverbs)
Woah the second he started to play rosewood strat, you can instantly see where Joe Bonamassa gets his influences!

The guitarist makes the guitar. Eric Johnson could play a banjo and still have killer tone. It's all in the players fingers.
Inspirational as always 🙏
He mentions Andy Summers.. I do feel like Eric Johnson and Andy Summers are quite similar players in some way..

& I love when you play your Red 335
4:34, just go!
I wish I knew if that was an actually tune or if he was just improvising. Would love to learn that. Sounds great
3:33 chills...
that aqua Strat looks good enough to take a big bite out of
I would like to know what concert that footage is from, have not heard that song before
wen the sun meets the sky, Venus Isle
Now that is a Texan accent! Textbook
Anyone know any of the tunes he’s playing with the green guitar?

Nice, but I think I like the Sherwood Green color better myself.
I usually prefer Gibson, but that guitar is beautyful
What is the color of that Rosewood model he is playing? Beautiful color.
Lucerne Aqua Fire mist
yup
Does anyone know the name of song at the end?
+Israel D When The Sun Meets The Sky
4:30 is that a song? what is it? O.o
As far as i can tell, that's some good ol eric johnson improv.
What's the name of that last song?
When the sun meets the sky !
I don't like the white lacing on the neck, that's all otherwise it's sharp
That is the maple neck that has been channeled, so the rosewood fits right into the neck.
