Someone tried to steal my car last night and fucked up the ignition key and also found the kill switch so I need to replace both. This helped a lot thank you 🙏🏽
There is something called a Clutch Pedal Starter Inhibitor Switch that sits at the top of the clutch pedal. There is a grommet in between the switch and the pedal. The grommet will eventually get brittle and break a part. Once this happens, the car will not attempt to start.
@@hooknbooktv452 No, you don't have to do anything to ignition switch. if your not for sure what you're starting problem is, I would start with the clutch switch because it's the cheaper fix. I thought my problem was the ignition switch but after I installed the new one in the video, I seen that did not fix the issue. I did a little bit of research and found that sometimes the grommet on the clutch switch gets brittle and falls apart. I happen to see the broken grommet near the footwell of my dirty car 😂 haha.
Thanks for the video and the link! My car was stolen yesterday and recovered today but the catalytic converter was gone and the ignition switch is damaged. The shop says it will cost $800 just for the switch! ... which seems like a total ripoff.
Sorry for the late reply. You can search on Amazon it's around $87. I'm not for sure if I can share links but this is what I brought. Beck Arnley 201-1855 Ignition Lock Assembly a.co/d/66XsOBu
If you have a manual civic, get a friend to sit in the car and push in the clutch, jump the starter at the positive terminal on the starter to the terminal on the starter, if your car doesn't start, it's the starter, if it does, there's a clutch safety on the back of the clutch that can go bad, it's like a little rubber ball that opens the circuit when the clutch is pressed in, unplug that harness and put a paperclip in and it'll bypass that rubber ball if it's broken, hopefully you've already solved your issue though!
Remember to always push the clutch in when starting though because if you jump the connection with a clip it'll start even if the clutch isn't engaged.
That's exactly what it was. I fixed it right after uploading this video. All I did was cut the clutch petal sensor wires and tied them together. not the safest thing to do but a quick fix for now. eventually I'll take out the clutch pedal and put the grommet in.
@@RichLifeStories yooooo. im late as hell lol. I was gonna tell u to do exactly that. Bypass the sensor by tie the wires together because that's how mine is. im like as long as that shit start im ight lol.
Thank you 🙏🏽 now I feel confident to do this when I get home today. My car will finally be back on the road
@@KishinClips I am glad to hear that! I hope it all works out.
@@RichLifeStories thank you! I appreciate you more than you know 🙌🏽

These cars are prone to get stolen. I'm glad you still have your car. 🙏
Thanks 👍
Try using the club on the pedal.
Thank you soooooo much!!! A great step by step really appreciate you making this!!!!
I'm Glad I can help just a little bit.
I used a Dremel and notched a flat head spot in the bolts and got them out in less than two minutes with a flat head screw driver
I couldn't find my Dremel so that's why I ended up using the chisel. it would have been so much easier with a dremel!!
What ended up being the problem?? My car is having the same issue
It was the clutch pedal grommet. The grommet came apart
Soo what did u have to do to make it work with 5speed? I got the same part u said something about clutch grommet?

So I don’t need to do anything to it when installing the ignition ? Only if it’s messed up right

I got mines from Amazon for $87

I lost the key to my 1998 Civic and need to replace the key 😩

Do you know if it will turn on when you install a new key if you got to program anything?
@@caribbeansunique3090 Yes it will turn on when you install it. These are older cars. There's no chip inside of the key so no programming is needed.
I have a problem where the car will only start if I like push up and turn the key at the same time
Bro what was your issue? I’m having the same problem

I want to change the cylinder because I lost the key
I'm sorry to here that. I guess that's the luxury of older cars. You don't have to pay the dealership or keysmith price.
Clutch safety switch.. check the floor
clutch pedal groument

bro lol i said the exact same thing 😂
@@RichLifeStories i hear dat. f*** it lol
The piece of trash that designed the bolts was just like "thats gonna stay there forever" having a hard time with mine I just drilled them out
Yes!!! I don't know why they put that bolt there. It's the most inconvenient spot And it just doesn't make sense.
The idea of the break away bolts is an anti theft measure. If two regular bolts were used trust me a ton more Honda's would be stolen.
@@TheJohnnyef9 I didn't think about that scenario. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
