This is actually one of my favorite missions in Wings, I like end game stuff, you control 2 factions, but i usually go with Regenerative Biosteel specifically for missions like this. I do like science vessels as well, but the energy upgrade just seems overkill and needless. Zerg regen kicks in IMMEDIATELY, upon taking damage. If a zerg unit takes damage and does not die, it automagically gets a single hit point back, and begins the slow healing process. Energy repair gets around this too, but the zerg regen also means it’s less wasted resources by SCVs repairing your tanks in hold out missions.
I for one did not mind this mission as much, because the key strategy of whittling down the enemy's defenses slowly but methodically using capital ships (as well as those god-tier science vessels!) was abundantly clear. P.S. I find it kind of strange that the Taldarim prisons didn't have any kind of psionic dampening field preventing their occupants from communicating telepathically (at least I would assume that's how they were asking for help) with anyone outside. But it's good to know that the Dark Templar still think highly of our hero.
So interesting thing about the DT prisons. The reason that last one only gave you one DT was because you hadn't lost any of the DTs from the other prisons. Otherwise, there's be 2 or 3 in it. I guess the developers didn't want you having too many of them.
something to note for this mission but its protoss shields that allow them to be immune to the rip fields so if you take out the shield of those under it [for example the carriers] they will die form the rip fields i'm not as sure if it counts for buildings and im pretty sure the generator is immune as well
The rip field that's on the ledge at 12:15, the one at 15:30 and the two last ones can be taken out with Dts. The ledge one is as easy as walking them to it. The others I mentioned can be taken out with help from a Hercules, after dispatching the errant flying units. Even on Brutal there's no detection surrounding these rip fields.
Usually in my own play-through, I don't bother making defenses, the engineering bay and scvs. I pool all my resources into pumping out battlecruisers and upgrading them. Only other units besides are 3-4 sci vessels, a medic shuttle and a reaper. The reaper-shuttle duo will travel around collect resources in the weird terrain. I spam mules whenever I can to speed up harvesting and save minerals on making scvs. I bring my cc over to the next base instead of making another one. When encountering the mothership, I actually try to push all my bcs into the blackhole, so none of them would be outgunned by the mothership. Truth be told, my method does allow for some protoss to leak through to attack the first base, so I also have to leave a few bcs at home to cover it. Then again, I have only ever played this on Hard, so maybe Brutal ups the difficulty such that you must make defenses to properly protect your stuff.
All this foreshadowing, all the hints - and yet Raynor hasn't figured out that Tychus will betray him? It's almost as bad as Anakin being surprised that Sheev is a Sith in Ep 3. "The Jedi are bad. They want to betray me and usurp power. Now here's a story you won't hear from the Jedi because they are bad. It's a Sith legend - don't ask me how I know it. Being a Sith is pretty cool - you get some awesome abilities. Did I mention that the Jedi are bad?"
You do know that people in star wars didn't see much of difference between jedi and sith. It's just that it seems like palpatine read somewhere about aweosme sith abilities.
Funny u shit talking starwars with a username literally about the guy in the series your shit talking. First of all maybe u arent following the story BUT raynor and tychus have history. Ive read the heavens devils book but even without that its implied raynor and tychus knew each other once and are old friends. So raynor has no reason to not trust him so to speak. Over the course of the game he knows tychus is working with the moebius guys. Hes also aware that tychus is hiding something from him via tosh. Hes also aware his armor is stuck to his body and has a strong transmitter connected to his organs via matt. Tychus on a regular basis kills dominion troops. Tychus also helps get mengsk publically shafted. All of this to lead to a point where he reveals his freedom comes at killing kerrigan.....why and how this equates to tychus betraying jim is laughable. He did not do anything he said 50 times he would do, he didnt even do anything countless people including jim have said they would do. Ie kill kerrigan. He never betrayed jim. He couldve easily popped kerrigan and jim. He didnt. He allowed jim to hear why it had to be done. Now. Anakin. Palp. Again this is the same kind of thing. Palp has always been kind to anakin. All the jedi except obi didnt trust him and shafted him constantly. Then the one jedi master who doesnt trust him the most literally tries breaking the jedi code right in front of anakin. So from his perspective jedi ARE evil. It was never as simple as oh hey btw anakin jedi are bad sith badass. And come on palp is a freaking senator to act like he never studied jedi/sith in any capacity is silly. Palpatine played everyone. And everyone played into palps hands. Had mace let palp go to trial anakin may be a jedi. Hell had they made him master and thrive the war wouldve been over much sooner.
I have heard of a way to speed run this mission, not sure if it will work, never tried it myself. The prerequisites are the orbital strike research which allows you to drop produced barracks unit and have ghosts or spectres. The strategy is build a ghost academy or shadow ops and research one or two nukes. Produce one or two spectres or ghosts and set the rally point the the very edge of the map behind the artifact vault. I think there is a spot where there is no detection and call down a nuke on the vault. If one is not enough then do it again. I don’t think the rip field will kill the ghost or spectres in time. Again, not sure if it will work, but doesn’t hurt to try.
It is possible, I saw this very same strategy in Awesome Games Done Quick 2013. As the name implies, that was a LONG time ago though, and I've never tested it myself, yet alone on the current patch. Who knows, maybe it doesn't work anymore but it's worth trying out at least once I think.
Tycus sad drunken state. And the dominion, lie campaign. Is silly. I find poison, not the kid, but raw theme aggression. [Lazbian gay, protoss zerg, Alain, Wealth Mind and hearts.] This is why I like nova. I love hero of the storm. Starcraft maps are nice.
Yes they do. In a way. U can piss/crap in them as they have things for that. But they also have cooling things. U see this in the opening cinematic. Liquid nitrogen type stuff. So it keeps the suit room temp
Hey Jayborino, what do you think are your favorite and least favorite missions from Wings of LIberty? My favorite is probably Piercing the Shroud, least favorite is probably this one or Supernova. This one cuz it takes forever and Supernova cuz it was really hard for me on Brutal.
They do, and yes, it would. But it doesn't change the fact that 9 years have passed. The world has continued to move on without him. Friends (like Raynor) have changed, possibly even died. I think WoL has done a decent enough job of showing that while Raynor might still consider Tychus a friend, their relationship is very much strained by the fact that one of them has moved on from being a criminal and the other hasn't. Raynor's changed a lot, and Tychus is struggling to come to terms with that I feel - doubly so since he's working for Mengsk to betray him.
@@Draeckonexcept he never betrays jim? Like how do ppl still think this? Did raynor always know he could save kerrigan. No. When tychus joins up that was still true. I cant believe the only Protoss unit the Terran commander can use is the cape wearing dark templars.

18:02 Yamato against a stalker? It was so frightening? :D
It was charging right at him! Have you seen those twin laser gun on those things! Soooooo menacing! XD
I think if you talk to Tycus a second time Raynor starts sitting next to him...
Anduin and valerian they look like twins
Anyone else noticed the flying terrian biomass at 16:17 ? x3
Celluar reactor is the other choice beside regenerative plating right? Thats what I usually go for, self-healing Battlecruisers are kind of fun.

I used Vikings to take down the mothership. Way faster and safer than using Battlecruisers
