    Great point about the clay mitt, too many I experienced people putting out videos 'teaching' inexperienced people bad habits 👌🏼👍🏼

      Couple weeks ago Specky McSporron used it on a blue Astra VXR , paint was terrible and he used that very mitt, that cars paint will def now look like the test panel did , shocking to put that out as consumer advice if you ask me 😠

      They’re brilliant Alan but you DO need to polish afterwards 👍

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos Год назад +2

      @@alantaylor2 I'll echo that, they're absolutely fantastic for a well maintained car that is decontaminated regularly (once/twice a year if not more)... They're faster but slightly less aggressive than a standard clay bar - which would cause a lot MORE damage than this. No clay should ever be used unless the intention is to polish afterwards.. mechanical decontamination should only be part of a correction process, not a cleaning one 👍🏼👍🏼
      What Graeme's highlighting is people using them and NOT polishing the paintwork, that's bad practice 👍🏼

    I thought that one of the better review videos for these Ryobi polishers. Well done!
    The bigger battery is the go as it takes longer to 'fade'. And the additional amp hours gives it that little bit more oopmph the polisher needs to do a reasonable job. They are a small motor that is going to stall out occasionally with down pressure.
    From what I have seen on other reviews the Dewalt brand cordless polisher appears to have a stronger motor...but it is nearly double the price.
    I just purchased the later model Ryobi polisher. Up till now I have been using a clay block and two coats of Nu-finish once a year polish and a $70 eBay polisher. The finish has had people stopping me to comment on how good it looks. It should be a lot easier now with the new polisher.

      Hi Andrew!, thank you very much I really appreciate your input!
      I’m glad you found the video useful , I think the next best step for these machines is a brushless motor , the dewalt sounds good and I know the Milwaukee one is also very good!, I do think you’re more likely to pick up a polisher being cordless, I know I would 😃

    • @andrewsmith8729
      @andrewsmith8729 18 дней назад +1

      @@GMDetails I still think for what I want the $200 Ryobi makes more sense than the $400 Dewalt skin plus the cost of a couple of batteries..... 😀
      I would be also concerned about using any cutting polish too often as it may damage the clear coat if people go overboard.
      Edit: The Milwaukee skin cordless 150mm polisher is $500 skin only.... it is too much for the occasional spruce up.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  17 дней назад +1

      @@andrewsmith8729 yes you’re absolutely right, a Ryobi and a couple of batteries that’s you sorted 👌
      You don’t always have to compound tho , using AIO polishes or a fine finishing polish won’t cut anywhere near as bad as a compound , and that brings me to the old saying , you’ll polish the paint clean off that car if you don’t watch out 😂

    I got mine over a year ago(here in the states) and on the head of the machine just below the grip spot there’s a small chart/scale/graph of “what speed does what”. It’s helpful for beginners seeing whereas this has no trigger. Yours just seems to have a different graphic where my o.p.m graph is. Good video!

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад +1

      Thank you the OPM graph sounds really helpful , I do think I’d prefer there to be a trigger on it rather than a switch but for what it costs, it’s still a bargain

  • @SparkleanAutos
    @SparkleanAutos Год назад +1

    Cracking video mate 👌🏼👌🏼
    Shows how much difference there is in power delivery between the different sizes of batteries and it's not just a gimmick to get more money from customers!
    The switch would bug the life out of me but other than that, it looks a cracking little machine for the money. As you said, even better value if you're already on the Ryobi system with your power tools 👌🏼👌🏼

    This looks like a decent bit of kit for the money, especially if you already have the Ryobi tools and batteries then your getting a decent cordless DA for cheap. Its something ive looked into in the past and possibly will look to be picking one up in 2023 at some point. Excellent video and demonstration Graeme.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Год назад

      Thanks Dave!, I def think I’d polish more often with a DA like this , but not with the 1.3Ah batteries 🤣

  • @RuneRelic

    Needed to by a 40+bar pressure washer for the garden paving.
    The Rybobi comes with a 4ah battery option, that doubles up for the car cleaning as the road is too far away from us for water/power.
    Also been struggling over a suitable dual action with the same cordless requirement.
    So in the end, this Ryobi DA was like a no brainer for me.
    Especially as they just knocked 25% off the DA price at the main website.
    £280 for the pair delivered felt like a bargain I couldnt refuse with the shared 4ah battery.
    So its nice to know that is DA can actually do a good job for DIY home use.
    Thanks. 👍

    Great to see a review on this. As you know iv had a look at this unit at work and it feels decent. Doesn't feel cheap either. Only other thought I had apart from the lack of trigger is the battery would be better inverted 90deg similar to the DeWalt unit which I'm really contemplating getting as I'm already invested in the DeWalt system. This does look an ideal entry into any polisher though if you've already got a Ryobi system.

    • @GMDetails

      Thanks Andy yes I agree the battery might be better on it’s side, tho the new Rupes mini polisher has an angle and battery like this 🤔 but yeah, I’d be a lot happier with it turned 90° , def a good wee machine for the money tho 👍

    After having a garage for years I'm not doing everything in a shared car park in front of my flat - no power supply and curtains twitching whenever I make a lot of noise (like my exhaust backbox exploding because it got full of fuel). I'm going to get one of these, but which battery do you recommend - I've seen cheaper batteries on ebay, as I don't want to pay £99 for a battery alone. I'm only going to use this a few times a year.

      Ha!! 😅 that made me laugh, I’m like that now and I’ve got a driveway 🤣
      You take your chances with the Chinese batteries not to mention warranty issues , best swallowing the cost as it’s a one off maybe get a 2 pack deal but def go for genuine Ryobi and the 5ah ones nothing below that as I showed in the video it’s a completely different tool with less power , good luck Dave 👍

      @@GMDetails I spent £250 at Halfords on the polisher, and also £130 starter kit (impact wrench, charger and 4ah battery), and also a mini hoover. It really is superb, I went to an out of town supermarket at about 7am on Sunday morning so nobody could hear me/complain and polished the car and did the headlights also and both look great.
      I can offset the cost by selling my SnapOn impact driver set as I never use it, Hurrah.
