Hey Great info there's a lot I'm not to happy about these power-units..but that's pretty common these days,we live in a "throwaway society " I like a clean oil pan, seems like the place all the dog droppings accumulate. Just wondering? If part of this procedure Might include, dropping the oil pan, sending a sample of oil for analysis, for trace contamination that are not ""eye"(my 63 year old) visible. Changing out o-rings on suction side of oil pump,. That other apparent weak point.? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR PASSING OF THIS KNOWLEDGE. BLESS YOU BROTHER
I found a broken stand pipe during a PM on a Saturday and had to drive 1 hour to get one. Oil analysis cabe back with metals a bit higher than normal so I will continue to follow up on it. Highly recommend to have a spare.
Thanks and appreciate your video. My truck is Freighliner cascadia 2020 and just issued low oil sign up … I checked but the engine oil never low … what is going on and how to avoid the sign?? Thanks.
Did Detroit change this on the Gen 5 Model DD15? I'm about to do my first oil change in a few weeks and I haven't had a chance to see if it's the same design.
Was changing oil in my 12.7 detroit was totally drained when an employee started it ran it for about 30 seconds it shutoff because of oil sensor. are these engines lubed enough to run for seconds without oil and not cause damage?
Hey I just went to do a oil change and when I removed my oil filter I noticed that my bypass valve is broken, do they sale just the check valve? Also a small plastic peace of the check valve I couldn’t find anywhere In the housing or near it.. what should I do
The standpipe is sold as one piece with the bypass on top of it, to find the plastic debris you can detached the oil cooler module, pretty sure it won't be that far or beyond the module. I know this reply is one year later, I reply anyway for people looking for this specific situation.
I do 16 qts of oil when I prime. I take extra caution 🤣 But idk why they designed that stand pipe like that. Literally swapping my 2nd engine in 2 weeks over it and destroying engine.
Your rockers, valves dont get touched in order to remove the injector to get to your injector cup. The injector harness, left and right is removed to have room to remove the injector.
Remove oil standpipe by gently unscrewing and ensuring no debris falls into housing. After the oil filter cap and oil filter are removed with a 36mm socket.

How do you change it , is it screw on or just a drop down that’s not secure ??!!
Nice to see you back and good to know cause I am getting a dd15 or dd16 soon thanks appreciate the work you do
When your dd15 engine is warned up what should your oil pressure be at idling?
My oil pressure on my DD15 is about 15 psi hot off of the interstate, and about 20ish psi if its just idling warm and hasn't been under any load.
Thanks and appreciate your video.

Did you get what’s wrong with your truck? Because I have same problem with my truck.

Great video something else I can check while doing Pm's at work.
Is there a recommended intervals that this should be replace as a preventative?
Amsoil, we recommend inspecting during every oil change 15-20k miles.

Where do you buy because i called Freightliner(Velocity) dealer & they dont sell this part alone
With Oil Pressure Issues , This MUST be Related to ( INTAKE VALVE FAILURE) After ONLY 68,000 MILES !!!! Not 680,000, but (68,000 Miles)
Thank you for sharing and thank you for watching. 💪🏼
why does this dd15 engine have so many lubrication problems? Brazil
What causes the standpipe/bypass to fail?
The material does not seem highly durable. Be sure to inspect every time before a failure. 🧐💪🏼
Wow thank you
What's normal oil psi cruising around 1100 rpm? Mine like 32 psi is that too low?
Awsome video thx
Florida Dreamer, we appreciate your support. 🔧👊🏼💪🏼
Tat express my friend has a DD 13 hes saying that DEF is getting in the cooling system can you tell me the problem ??
would this also cuase the crank case tube pop out from the side of the block and drop oil pressure
No, this sounds like another problem.
What is the torque specs on the oil standpipe
Are you guys located in dallas?
cant you just get rid of the stand pipe or replace with something aftermarket that wont fail?

Marco, thank you for your input and support. 💪🏼
Morning everyone, I have a question? When replacing the injector cups, isn't the valve adjustment part of that also?
No
Your rockers, valves dont get touched in order to remove the injector to get to your injector cup. The injector harness, left and right is removed to have room to remove the injector.
Does the stand pipe just unscrew from the housing
Remove oil standpipe by gently unscrewing and ensuring no debris falls into housing. After the oil filter cap and oil filter are removed with a 36mm socket.
Ok thank you
I’m going to replace the oil stand pipe tomorrow does the stand pipe need to be torqued
What size socket to use to remove stand pipe?
Im assuming DD13s have the same issue .
didn’t mention anything about it causing low oil pressure
Anybody know how much is going to cost
i cannot find where to order a standpipe, can anyone link one for me?
i am learning truck repair job in malaysia can i work with you as helper please guide me
What is the root cause that caused all this?
We have seen this failure on newer and older engines. It is best to check standpipe for damage.
A black plastic oily part, black gloves, and a black sweatshirt back round. No wonder I can not see.
i am a helper in malaysia and take care of trucks can i get job in canada can i work with you i am permanent resident of india
Our DD15 just broke because of this problem
Rudy Lopez, we are sorry to hear that. We hope that you get back on the road soon. Thank you for watching 💪🏼🔧
very bad design , same way with the oil cooler On a 18 speed transmission , Worst design that somebody can think of
Joe, I agree very bad design. Be sure to inspect the oil stand pipe. 🧐
Cheap plastic parts today
Good information. Thanks
