    Thanks, nice mill set up, as a much younger version of myself, I ran a mill and then used the product for mortise and tenon, post and beam work, the objective was to provide a blemish less product the customer. Cant-hooks and log rollers bite in and scar, if you need to produce a “finished” product, you’ll need to protect your corners from strap bite but your on to something.

    I been doing that for years, i use it to load logs on the mill also with a barn door trax and rollers , I mounted my winch onto the rollers with 7/8 unistrut and it was perfect doubled for winch brackets , but good job you figured this out, I was wondering why more guys wasn't doing this. Cedar mill , ole fart from Alabama!;

      It has been a game changer for me. Some of these logs were just too big for me to turn and I did not like using my tractor. Thanks for watching.

    About to do the same thing, except the rail will run the length of the mill, so as to allow longer logs to be put in one end first, then move them down. Perfect timing with this vid - thx!

    That looks like it would sure save your body. A chain with a hook would probably work well. Good job

    In deciding where to mount the hoist since log lengths vary and can vary a lot, my initial thoughts were to mount the rail centered over the bed long ways supported at every rafter. Then the hoist itself can be moved to the center of any sized log you put on the mill. Otherwise, nice build.

      I considered that, but there were 2 things, one was the power cord length and the other was not having the remote control and the cable and hook in the path of the mill head. Thanks for watching.

      @@StNixFarms You see things a thousand times but never realize what you are actually seeing until it hits you. I noticed when you rotate one end of a log, the other end turns too (har-har) so middle of a log means nothing when rotating, only if you are trying to lift a log and keep it balanced. Your setup is perfect for turning any size log you can get on the mill and if you add ramps (tractor loading would be easier) you could use the winch to roll a log up the ramps.

    I’ve been very curious about the HF hoist and how it would do over a chain fall. Cool video thank you curious what video you seen with the hook instead of strap?

    Nice job , when turning the log dont have winch directly above log, have it more over the back of mill, turns much more easily,,, Just saying
