The Mobs will fall into the Trapdoor hole and then Pushed down by Water.

Most likely the caves under the surface might make the spawn rate slower so I'd recommend you light them up and if there are more than 2 players and the other is far from the spawner it goes slower also spiders might go in the corner

Place some Carpets with 2 blocks gap,so the Spiders will not Spawn.
