    • @NathanMcClintock
      @NathanMcClintock 5 лет назад +15

      You say that but Australia won every game of the rugby championship in 2015 and the ABs were scratchy. Then NZ owned everyone aside from the boks in the RWC.. NZ, boks, oz in the semis with Wales of course. NZ v SAF final.

    • @Karma-qt4ji
      @Karma-qt4ji 5 лет назад +4

      @@NathanMcClintock The difference was that in 2015, the All Blacks did not field a full strength side in TRC and that is where the issue of a TRC winner never having won the RWC started. Looking at this year, SA fielded a B side against Australia while their A side was already in NZ, BEFORE NZ got there. That kind of depth exists in SA and I think Rassie took a chance on not resting players because he wanted to win the TRC to give the players the confidence going forward. I do not believe that Aus have that kind of depth and that is where they might encounter a problem.
      NZ has a different but equally dangerous problem; in the recent past, far too many sides have learned to beat them or run them close. They are relying on players like Read and Ben Smith who are just not firing on all cylinders, they are missing MacKenzie and Squire and they are desperate to find a spot for a kicker because they have finally realised (too late) that Beauden Barrett will not win the close ones for them. Doesn't mean that they cannot crush everyone in sight, but the fear of the All Blacks has diminished and other teams are now comfortable playing their own game instead of trying to keep up.
      Interesting times indeed.

      wildebest England n Australia nah thats not 50/50... Englands still gona win, all the top 5 teams have a 50/50 chance in winning the world cup.. Australia less likely.. Wales can win if they don't meet the AB's in the knockout rounds.. the other 3 are fairly matched against the AB's with depth of players etc

    Well said, couldn’t agree more. The problem with Aus rugby has been the culture. It actually started with Beale, O Connor and Cooper on tour together not respecting the senior players and it’s spiraled from there. PS thanks Wallabies, you’ve opened this World Cup up nicely. To be fair the All Blacks look disorganized and lack cohesion as a team at the moment and if they don’t sort that out they’re not winning this year. Boks looking good

Australian Rugby has some cultural issues stemming from management down.

    Still relevant -- these issues are exactly what the Wallabies addressed in the match against the All Blacks. They finally got some fast ball from effective forward carrying and got their defensive structures right and they were dangerous. I think the pairing of Nic White and Christian Lealiifano was the key. They need game management from their halfbacks, to unlock the flash from their centers and back three.

    The Wallabies woes over the last 12 months are in my view
    1) Poor tactical kicking -, uncontested kicks to nowhere, gifting possession back to the opposition.
    2) A weak scrum that leaks penalties.
    3) No player who can confidently drop a goal in the opposition 22.
    I agree Fardy needs to be back in the team, the eligibility rules for players with overseas clubs should be reduced to 30 caps.

    The All Blacks look like the 1995 team - dealing with the retirements of key playmakers in the last 4 years, struggling to click, needing a reset and a team to form. However, at the 1995 World Cup it did all came together and Jonah Lomu's rampaging attack inspired the team to within a whisker of winning - they probably would have if most of the team hadn't fallen ill the day before the final. (Kicks off the Suzie debate... for what it's worth, I don't believe there was a conspiracy - just poor food handling.)

    This world cup is so open.... a year ago I would have said Ireland. Now maybe Wales have the grit to grind out a Cup win?????

      Ireland just look lost on the pitch compared to last year. Teams have started figuring out how to disrupt them 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Doing a breakdown of the game will be like doing an analysis of a top level chess match where one side loses a piece in the opening. Not much to really to learn other than don't get red carded in the first half... anything else is just speculation. IMO. But please still do a video squidge!

    I am a log suffering Wallabies supporter stuck out here in Southern Africa . But after the All Black performance against the Springboks and Pumas and the fact that this is a World Cup year (check out 2011 and 2015) I confidently wagered money on them to win and tomorrow at the gym I shall be collecting money from 3 salty South African Springbok supporters
