- Andy Belaska shows us what he has done to his 1979 Custom Chevy Van that he bought new back in 79. It had some customisation when he purchased it but like all of us Vanner's he wanted to make it his own. Beautifully customised inside with cedar wood, bed and everything else a Vanner needs to have a great time traveling, camping, cruising town and going to van runs. Great job Andy! See you next year. Filmed by JJLightning, John Koterba (OOP) and Jo at Last Chance Truck-in, 9/24/2022. Woods Tall Timber Lake, New Philadelphia, Ohio. Sponsored by Tascarawas Intervalley Truckers. T.I.T.

I really like this van. It's simple but well thought out.
The visor and chin spoiler are cool.
The 3 point mirrors from the 76/77 are the best looking mirrors. I had a 76 shorty that had the exact same color paint and pinstripes as the Wild Cherry van, minus flares. Body was completely clean. Had same portal windows. Ballcap visor w/ matching chin spoiler. Same grill with thin smoke headlight covers that are Velcro'd on the corners. Ladder, and luggage rack. Rims are similar to the ones on the General Lee. Wish I stil had it. Sounded like yours. Worked over 350.
Drilling and tapping the door handle and window crank is such a good idea!!
I WHICH I HAD IT AND I WOULDN'T NEVER SALE IT EITHER I LOVE THE 70 VANS CHEVY, G. M. C ... THE A TEAM VAN...🤤🤤🤤🤤... A BEAUTY... AS WELL AS THIS VAN THANK YOU FOR SHARING...👍👍👍👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Wow, unbelievably clean. Even under the hood looks like the day it rolled off the showroom. Great job Andy.
Thank you
Nice van. I picked up a couple of ideas.
I have to admit I teared up when he talked about his dog. I got my dog as a pup and he rode up front with me his whole life. He passed a couple of years back and I still miss him.
Thank you
I have a 89 shorty I bought brand new and I'm like you I'm never selling it
I have a 74 Chevy Shorty that I also bought new (and still have) so I can relate to your attachment. Our van club was Ever-Wet Vans out of Everett. Thanks for the tour, and keep on trucking my man.
That thing sounds as awesome as it looks!
I'll try that drill the window handles idea
Thank you
Sweet, I think I am having a midlife crisis and need my 70's van ;)
Thank you
I like it! very nice!
Thank you
Beautiful van! I’m buying a ‘79 G10 125” wheelbase cargo van myself to customize. Only 59000 miles on the 6 cyl. But a nice small block700R4 will be installed at some point!
And dark louvers over the back windows.
Some people just don’t know what they have , I see a lot of potential there , the paint colour can be shifted to a metallic blue with a few shades of blue and some silver , like Danny’s van on Counts Custom the History Channel TV series , this van is a collectors dream , I for one love it and I don’t mean to rate up you’re vision but the paint thing is something personal sorry if I offend you not my intention, thank you kindly all the best my friend really nice van my man 😊
I've had to rebuild my 79 from scratch saving it from the junk yard for the last two years to get it anywhere near as cool as that. I can't imagine being able to get all those options out the door! So Sick!
Great tip on the handles! Appreciate that one!
Thank you
Beautiful van , love everything about it especially the the wood rooflines inside .
Awesome van and a great job of keeping it clean
Thank you
really cool van !
Thank you
Great van 👍👍😎
I have a 79 also. Same color. I bought at auction in 1980.
I had a 1979 CHevy Van I bought in 1990 G20 3/4 ton with a 350. It was PERFECT for my needs which is camping flyfishing from a kayak. It had a couch in it that folded down to a bed and remained in the bed position the entire time I owned it as I kept a small 10foot kayak in it. It had windows in the back that slid open with a screen that kept mosquitos out and provided air flow and the rear windows on the rear doors flipped open which increased air flow which is huge when you are camping. If the tempts hit 80+ it gets hot and you roast and opening the cargo door driver side and passANGER WINDOWS and the cargo door and the side and rear windows made it much cooler when I am rough camping lake side. I drove it up to Alaska right after I got it and drove around Alaska all summer long in 1990. I drove it all over northern california flyfishing lakes like Davis And Eagle lake rough camping lake side. It was awesome. It was still running when I sold it in 2010 for $500. I finally replaced with a NEW GMC savana 2010 AWD and I ordered it with the same flip out windows and I put sliding side windows in the rear that Sportsmobile put in for me for some $1200. I built a bed for it and insulated the walls and paneled the roof and walls and put in carpeting.
Please tell that gentleman they still make that red vinyl! Naugahyde Brand - pattern is Rogue II - Color Crimson. I have it in my van, bought it brand new. It is exactly the same as what he has
Thank you

NICE!!!!
dude - I have almost the same van in the very same color. Factory color_ dark carmine, am i right?!? I'm the original owner of mine. 1980 G10 - the next longer model. I paid 6,100 when I ordered it from a western NY chevy dealer... My van has 31k original miles and was always stored indoors! With the rustproofing I got at the time, the body and frame are perfect. Sowroom clean. It's almost time to get some dirt on her!
roof rack is on backwards....kinda like it
We know that we wanted it that way looks better to us
Where did you get the chrome trim around the grill.
I would do a video of mine but I hate talking
Get tire rack
