@amindfulnomad They should embrace 50 it is a beautiful age where you have the most confidence. Sorry, disgusting company. Needs to change! Won't fly them now.
Counterpoint, being cabin crew is a pretty physically demanding job. I’m in my late 40s, and don’t think of myself as being old, but I certainly cannot perform like when I was in my 20s, and 30s.

Glad you still pursued your dream and that you’ll be flying for American!! Congrats and keep in touch, I’d love to hear about your experience with them :)
I know lots of people above the age of 50 that are still flight attendants, and they love it, however, not in the Emirates.... more like in Europe, America or South America, there is no age limit. The oldest flight attendant in the US is around 69 yo. It's totally possible. But not with Emirates, usually outside the UAE, people can fly around 80 hours per month, in the UAE I guess it's around 120 hours pm.... that's insane....
Hey there! 100% agree with you, I know people over 50 that are still flight attendants, too. But not in Emirates, when you get to 50 they stop renewing your contract.
Emirates is a golden cage , they do not want employees, more want slaves of the modern world. Yeah the offer free accomodation, true but you pay a high price for that, not everything is money. I join EK at 29 and I felt healthy and strong, unfortunately the last year it s been very hard for me physically and I prefer to choose a life where my body follow natural cycles but leaving Emirates was not an easy choice despite the negative sides of the job there are so many cool things, like been able to meet amazing people all over the world, bring your family with you on layover, and much more. I would do it again:) but happy to start a new life:)
You're going to do amazing!! I'm so happy you were able to listen to your body and your heart. Leaving is never an easy choice, so I commend you for making it. Congrats and all the best! ♥
On the other hand, I was on a United flight last month where several of the flight attendants were so poorly groomed that I didn't want the drinks or food they were serving. Hair all over the place (possibly in the food?), unkept nails, messy uniforms, one was decidedly overweight which I know this isn't fair, but it seemed to accentuate her poorly fitted uniform. I don't want people to be judged on their looks, but being neat and well groomed, especially when you're handling and serving food and drinks, is important, at least it is to me. For airlines based in Western countries, the days of admiring or being envious of their flight attendants are decidedly over.

I have heard of airline crashes due to how tired pilots were, due to the fact that they could not afford a place to stay. This was some years ago, and a pilot’s starting salary was less than a cleaner in the UK got paid. The airline in question was an American one. People make videos about Emirates because everyone in the world heard of them.

Love how you delivered this message to all cabin crew wannabes out there who would love to join Emirates and while I was one of them 9 years ago trying to get into emirates went to almost 6 open days barely making it to 3rd stages because I thought that that was my only dream. Long story short 10 years later I am now employed by Emirates as a groundstaff but based in Europe. Wonderful video! Honestly, ever since I read that article about the flight attendant weight thing, Emirates has sounded off putting to me. How accurate was that situation and does the UAE not have laws protecting individuals from that?
thank you for a very interesting video. I am 82 , live, in Englnd and last year had a wonderful trip on A380 from LHR to DBX where I changed to a Boeing 777 for trip to SEZ for a holday. In fact in 1984 I had holiday to SEZ and I met my ex-wife ( who is a Seychelles born lady ( and then she came to England and we got married. The A380 was superd and comfortable, cabin grey were helpful. However the B777 can NEVER be compared to Airbus A380, in my view A380 is the best plane in the world. I hope you have a good new work or any other work.My last job was as container controller in Felixstow in England for ZIM ISRAEL NAVIGATION from 1994 to 1996.. I hope you do not mind my short story, enjoy yourself in your current occupation,
This is so cool! Hope you’re still traveling and yes I agree: A380 is MUCH better for passengers, way more comfortable than the Boeing. At least with the Emirates cabin interiors, it can be different in other airlines :) have a great day and thanks for leaving a comment!
Weird the hiring process is so hard and challenging and still quality of employees is poor? The are hiring so many, like every country every month and still not enough?
You're right. But I think their standards are more focused on age and specific looks, so I guess it makes it harder to find quality people when you're priorities are set elsewhere 🙃
Please am presently in finishing my first semester on a 2 years course in civil aviation and cabin services. But I feel it too long. How will I be able to work for Emirates immediately
To be fair, all airlines have standards for cabin crew, be it aesthetics, or safety. Even BA has a minimum reach requirement. Also, if you are 5’ 4”, and weigh 120kg, you will also definitely be rejected, but you will not be told it is a weight thing.
That is true, airlines have had standards for crew ever since the job was invented. Look at the PanAm flight attendants, they used to weigh them before flights and they had to have perfect make up. Not saying it's right or wrong, it's just the way it's always been.
I took a gap year before entering to university and I was thinking on doing this. I don’t see it as a permanent thing but definitely want the experience! I’m curious about the contract. Do they offer you 1/3/6month as trial contracts?
I have a quick question I have new job now I need ur advice I work in a hotel and I got an invitation to final assessment interview will it not affect me during my interview I have spent one month ? Will it be a lead not to pick me just because I have spent less time at my current work ? Because it’s my dream to be a cabin crew
If they already called you to the final interview, I don’t see how it can affect you. Make sure you’re prepared for the final interview and most importantly: BE RELAXED. Best of luck!! Let me know how you go :)
I love your videos. You are so beautiful and nice personality. Please, can you honestly tell me if I could apply on Emirates cabin crew if I'm 49 year old? I look much younger and feel younger and I am in a good health, but I know I'm too old for them, even if they don't mention maximum agem limit.
Hey there! From my knowledge EK doesn’t hire past 35 (they actually don’t renew contracts to people that are close to 50 which totally sucks). But you can ALWAYS TRY! I always rather give it a shot, because you already know “no” is a possibility. What do you got to lose, right?
I loved the video thank you so much, it's so in depth and you covered a lot of things I had questions about Now I have a specific question maybe you don't have the answer to and that's fine hh do you know if one can do a master's online in dubai while working as cabin crew ? Like do you think it's doable to study something simultaneously? Maybe you know someone who did that .. Thanks
Hi! Thanks for your kind words 🥰 I do have friends who studied online (I studied online myself). I even flew with a girl who did a phd while flying, so it’s totally possible! But you do have to be committed. You have to keep into consideration that you’re going to be tired from flying late at night and early in the morning + jet lag. But if you commit you 100% can do it 💪🏼
@@amindfulnomad oh thank you for the fast reply 🥰 That's so good to hear, also the phd while flying sounds so badass ! Love it 😁 I hope being 27 is not a problem I heard they hire younger
You can get your own but they won't give you allowance to pay for it, and in Dubai it's necessary as accommodation is really expensive. UNLESS you: a) are married b) have family who lives in dubai c) own your property. I got lucky because they didn't have enough buildings a few years back, so they offered me the allowance, so I took it and RAN 😅
@amindfulnomad So, you might be eligible for the allowance if you’re married? Or do you mean getting your own accommodation might be more affordable if you have a working partner? Sorry, I got confused
I think fulfillment is very personal: I felt like being cabin crew was rewarding especially after becoming a Supervisor. But I do see your point! The conditions are good in EK, it's not perfect, but to be honest: it's a great airline to work for. I just like to tell it like it is and share pros and cons. Thanks for commenting!
Unfortunately, no. A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement. 😕 Everything else you added makes you a standout candidate though! You just need that diploma :)
From Vietnam with love ❤️ hope U doing well. I wonder that I have a tattoo on the forearm and my question is that whether the uniform might be cover it or not. Although I’ve been invited to the cabin crew interview in my area, I worried about that I would not be able to pass it cuz of a tattoo 🥲 Pls give me your advice if possible sis and I really appreciate that.

I’m so sorry, that is so ridiculous. Unfortunately that’s how they operate. I’ve heard there have been updates on how they manage weight and they’re more strict now. Doing research for my next video 👀
hii i’m wondering if i go into open day now (october) and can’t go to dubai until april will that affect my position with them? and if i go again will i not get chosen because i couldn’t come sooner last time? i just want to make sure i can pass the reach test etc but i want to plan my future a bit in advance.. thank you for answering ❤️
Hi! Do you mean if you get selected but can’t come until April? And what does the reach test have to do with it? Let me know so I can understand a bit better :)
@@amindfulnomad I’m not too sure if I can manage to do the reach test that’s why i wanted to try the open day so soon and see!! and yes the earliest i could join is april next year if i get selected yes!! would that be too long of a time period for them to wait or is it ok? thank you for replying :)
April may be a bit long, but I do know that they are understanding (they do ask you what your notice period for your current job is) so as long as you tell them from the beginning, you should be okay. But don't tell them about your notice period being April until they ask. Best of luck! @@kokomiiiiii-_-
I saw a video about a pilot and why he left Emirates. Only those who make captain have a half decent experience. First officers are a dime a dozen and they don't care. When I see these companies do these things I think the problem is at the very top. The CEO/President owns their own crap and they should be held accountable.
You're right, the problem is definitely at the very top. But FOs made a very decent living! The main thing I always heard pilots complain about was the amount of flying hours, which was almost the same as cabin crew.
@@amindfulnomad Thanks. I heard that Etihad makes cabin crew repay their joining bonus over the first 12 months (even if they stay 12 months or longer).

Hi Chandan! I've never worked for Qatar, but here are a few tips I can give you to become cabin crew: -Work on your English, practice watching videos, movies, whatever you can get your hands on. -Work on your mindset. The more confident you are, the better you'll do in the interview, because you'll feel prepared. -Apply for smaller airlines or a job in the airport. It's a way to get involved in the aviation world which will also give you more confidence and value in your CV. You've got this! Just trust ✨
Aviation jobs are shit shows full stop and the sooner people realise this the better. I am speaking from 23.5 years of experience with a 4 star airline as an Inflight supervisor.
@@sofs994 it also depends on your contract. When did you join? I know that more recent contracts have lower base salaries. I made 11-12k dhs most months when I was gr2 and gr1 (and flying 120 hs per month). Then it became much more when I made it to supervisor.
Love your honesty of this video:) Around 13 years ago, they were holding a open call interviews in my country. I went there and made it up to group assessments. I remember how down I was when I wasn't choosen. Looking back and hearing all these stories, I know I'd be miserable and I'd probably quit after a year or two. I know a girl from my country who was working for them for 3 years, and got out. She said exactly same things.
Wonderful video! Honestly, ever since I read that article about the flight attendant weight thing, Emirates has sounded off putting to me. How accurate was that situation and does the UAE not have laws protecting individuals from that?
Hey! I'll be honest though: the weight thing happens in most Middle-Eastern/Asian airlines. Emirates wasn't so strict, but now I'm hearing they are. Working on a video about the weight and image incidents for next month!

Wonderful video! Honestly, ever since I read that article about the flight attendant weight thing, Emirates has sounded off putting to me. How accurate was that situation and does the UAE not have laws protecting individuals from that?
Can Emirates cabin crew work online as a tutor or consultant, or run a side business? Thanks!
thank you for a very interesting video.
Hi! Not sure I understand your question. Can you rephrase?
3 years contract minimun, if you leave before you have to pay a fee.
@@DanDan-pk6tx oh wow thank you 👍🏼
You only have to pay if you leave before 6 months. Not 3 years. Lots of people I know left before their first contract was up.
Thank you very much so on my cv I can leave the job that I am currently on ?
Because me I will I do all assessments together with the finals I mean all day interviews
And by the way my cv is 4 pages and full detailed is it fine ? Advice mi as well
@@doreenmuteteri1469I’d try to keep the resume to 1/2 pages with things that are relevant to customer service/aviation
I just like your presentation beautiful one, you really suit to work in TV show!!🥰🥰
Aw, thanks so much! ✨
@@amindfulnomad Thank you so much for replying. Yes, I will go to the Open Day and see, so that I won't have regrets later for not trying.
I loved the video thank you so much, it's so in depth and you covered a lot of things I had questions about
Now I have a specific question maybe you don't have the answer to and that's fine hh do you know if one can do a master's online in dubai while working as cabin crew ? Like do you think it's doable to study something simultaneously? Maybe you know someone who did that ..
Thanks
Hi! Thanks for your kind words 🥰 I do have friends who studied online (I studied online myself). I even flew with a girl who did a phd while flying, so it’s totally possible! But you do have to be committed. You have to keep into consideration that you’re going to be tired from flying late at night and early in the morning + jet lag. But if you commit you 100% can do it 💪🏼
@@amindfulnomad oh thank you for the fast reply 🥰
That's so good to hear, also the phd while flying sounds so badass ! Love it 😁
I hope being 27 is not a problem I heard they hire younger
@@me15222it absolutely isn’t. Go to the Interview with a peaceful mind and the highest of hopes + positive vibes. What’s for you won’t pass you by ☺️
Is it required to live in their apartments? Can’t you get your own so you don’t have to have roommates ?
You can get your own but they won't give you allowance to pay for it, and in Dubai it's necessary as accommodation is really expensive. UNLESS you: a) are married b) have family who lives in dubai c) own your property. I got lucky because they didn't have enough buildings a few years back, so they offered me the allowance, so I took it and RAN 😅
@@amindfulnomad got it !! Thanks 😊
@amindfulnomad So, you might be eligible for the allowance if you’re married? Or do you mean getting your own accommodation might be more affordable if you have a working partner?
Sorry, I got confused
@@biancakemiyou’re eligible if you’re married.
Competent air hostes are leaving Emirates replaced by low standard crew ,staff.
One of these answers is 100% correct!
Being software engineer working remotely 100% is much more rewarding. :) I heard the conditions for working are horrible in Emirates....
Can I apply without high-school diploma? I worked 6 years as a customer service agent im 170m and I speak 3 languages
Unfortunately, no. A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement. 😕 Everything else you added makes you a standout candidate though! You just need that diploma :)
Loved this video! This is my dream job ! Im pretty , smart, talented acc to ma friends honestly. But im short😢😢 will i be able to achieve my dream😊
Go for it! You have to be able to reach 212cms with your arms/hands stretched and on your tippy-toes. 😉
From Vietnam with love ❤️ hope U doing well.
I wonder that I have a tattoo on the forearm and my question is that whether the uniform might be cover it or not. Although I’ve been invited to the cabin crew interview in my area, I worried about that I would not be able to pass it cuz of a tattoo 🥲
Pls give me your advice if possible sis and I really appreciate that.
Hi friend! Getting LOTS of questions about tattoos, so I’ll make a video explaining it a bit better.
I never fly emirates......but what i love when i was working as a safety officer is the free of charge ticket for hollyday
definitely a pro!
I never want to go to Dubai.. I just dont agree with slave labour they import and their living conditions..they re rich enough to pay and treat people correctly. Glad you were able to start your own business amazing...❤
Thanks ✨ Starting my business was challenging but super rewarding!
Can I go with my braids in the interview I mean final day when they are neat and professional?
100% as long as they are neat, you're okay :)
Can u please minimize inserting clips from previous movies or anything.
They fired me because I gained weight :) I was only 1kg overweight. They are insane
I’m so sorry, that is so ridiculous. Unfortunately that’s how they operate. I’ve heard there have been updates on how they manage weight and they’re more strict now. Doing research for my next video 👀
If you don’t mind me asking a few questions about what happened, email me at contact@amindfulnomad.com ♥️
Awesome video..

Does emirates call the companies in your cv for verification?
They didn’t call mine but I do know they run background checks on everyone who joins, hope this helps!

@@kokomiiiiii-_-
I saw they will give you housing for you and your family, is that true?
Housing allowance and only under certain conditions :)
Wow can you imagine if legacy US carriers limited the age to 50. They'd lose a huge % of their staff. So many do it as a second career.
True!
Does Emirates make cabin crew repay their joining bonus by monthly salary deductions?
They don't make you pay. back. ONLY if you leave before your 6 month probation period.
@@amindfulnomad Thanks. I heard that Etihad makes cabin crew repay their joining bonus over the first 12 months (even if they stay 12 months or longer).
I didn't know Etihad did that, haven't heard it, but it sucks if it's true. Not cool at all.@@Straight_Talk
Can I ask how often do they weigh you?
From what I heard recently: they can weigh you any time. They do it randomly.
Hlo mam I am from India my name is chandan kumar..i want to become a cabin crew for qatar airways i have given 4 times interview but i did not qualify to assisment day ...its my dram to become cabin crew..can you please help me to achieve my dream its a humble request from you mam.. hlep me mam for purse my dream ..😊
Hi Chandan! I've never worked for Qatar, but here are a few tips I can give you to become cabin crew:
-Work on your English, practice watching videos, movies, whatever you can get your hands on.

@@amindfulnomad ah ! That makes a difference. But if you live in accommodation… sorry I never got a 3 k salary in emirates .
@@sofs994 it also depends on your contract. When did you join? I know that more recent contracts have lower base salaries. I made 11-12k dhs most months when I was gr2 and gr1 (and flying 120 hs per month). Then it became much more when I made it to supervisor.
They’re always leaving since I joined in 2016 😂. Always same blah blah story
And since I joined in 2010. High-employee turnover but definitely an experience worth having!
Emirates? No , thank you !!!!
To fly as a passenger or to work?
Love your honesty of this video:) Around 13 years ago, they were holding a open call interviews in my country. I went there and made it up to group assessments. I remember how down I was when I wasn't choosen. Looking back and hearing all these stories, I know I'd be miserable and I'd probably quit after a year or two. I know a girl from my country who was working for them for 3 years, and got out. She said exactly same things.

Hey! I'll be honest though: the weight thing happens in most Middle-Eastern/Asian airlines. Emirates wasn't so strict, but now I'm hearing they are. Working on a video about the weight and image incidents for next month!

I love. Love. Safe to say that I live my best life now looking back I can definitely see why I didn’t get into Emirates cabin crew because I meant to be here where I am now. But shout out for those of you who want to be a cabin crew for Emirates yes join us but know what you signed up for. Exactly what she said write it down on your journal. Write it on a piece of paper.
