I stumbled onto this via the Internet rabbit warren. Originally, I was thinking how I like the Morris Minor convertible, but how you'd be insane to take it out on contemporary US roads and have to go toe-to-toe with aggressive pickup truck drivers and the like. Though I am usually content with speed limits, I thought "Morris Minor + Chevy V8" et voila..... I am not a big fan of restomods, but this car is so well executed in keeping the smart traditional look of a Morris Oxford and doing its best to remain stock, but the Q-Ship has the upgrades needed to be the streetfighter in urban traffic warfare. This is the type of vehicle that firmly demonstrates NEVER underestimate what is next to you at the stoplight, and throw down the gauntlet. You may be unpleasantly humiliated.

  • @sputumtube

You have to be 'a certain age' to remember these cars. I was born in 1960 so I recall seeing plenty of them still knocking about as a child. I prefer this car to the Morris Minor because, at a glance, it looks quite standard. I absolutely love it.

I had the same thoughts as this car owner i was 15 in 1970 ,my old man had one in black it just sat in the garage he paid £25 for it and sold it for £25 in 1968 and carried on riding his pushbike.
I thought how nice it looked being that much bigger than the morry 1000, thinking how good it would look to have a V8 engine installed. this has been done so well well done !

Lovely Morris Oxford with an awesome soundtrack. A neighbour of ours when I was a kid used to give me a lift to school in his, same colour, He nearly always had to crank it, and I had to catch it on the throttle 😂 The only other colour I can remember is black ? Classics + V8 = Awesome motors 👍🇬🇧😎

Its great to know that there are top quality custom builders and coach builder in the UK that produce work of this outstanding quality. 👍 Now these are the guys I want to watch on TV doing their stuff on cars and not the shoddy workmanship I've seen being done for a quick turnaround for a TV program. Also I can just imagine the person who thinks I'll be kind and lets this very old Morris Oxford out at a junction to take a closer look at it only to watch as it just vanishes into the distance! and say what the hell was that???? 😳 More of this content please PP. 👍😀👍

I like that Peter…mainly because of the correct colour and although completely non original in design , the interior colours are also correct. It reminds me of EJY 945 which was my dad’s Company 1949 “low light” Morris Minor..identical colour scheme! It is giving the owner lots of pleasure in an accessible way. I see he didn’t get the door handles and badges redone in chromium…maybe the Marzak was too pitted to make the job worthwhile. So another good one…on to the next..a W12 Bentley engined Armstrong Siddley 346 Star Sapphire maybe!! Stay safe…VSCC/MAC Shelsley Walsh tomorrow..first Event since Brooklands Driving Test Day 30/1/2020 !!! Richard😃😃😃😃😃

You're right about the door handles, bonnet & boot hinges and a few other bits and pieces were originally marzak which pits horribly. It is both time consuming and expensive to have them cleaned, the pit marks filled with copper (apparently that is the preferred method) and then chroming them. I decided with Barry at Multi-Tech that they could be prepped and sprayed in body colour and still look good. (which I think they do). I had previously bought some replacement bonnet & boot hinges on e-bay from India (at the time they were not available in the UK) and the advert said they fitted MOs 49 - 54. Well, of course they lied the pegs didn't line up with the holes, also the quality of the chrome was SHITE so do NOT ever buy anything like that on e-bay. Since that painful and fairly costly experience the Morris Oxford Owner'a Club have sourced good quality replacement parts in the UK, so they are now available!

@@howardriddell5705 I totally understand about the fittings and Marzak…in 1962 my Dad bought a 1954 Series II Oxford (SHY 214) and the fittings were in a bad way already. Back then it was easy to get new ones so we replaced them all but they were pitting again in under 12 months! I think your solution looks very good indeed..we might have done the same if we had only thought of it at the time! I think you have done a wonderful job with the interior and that must have cost a great deal to achieve. Fear not..I know well the perils of E-Bay quality….a friend runs a motorcycle restoration and repair shop…he doesn’t go near e-Bay for copy parts any more!!! Enjoy the Morris…you have done a fine job there!! Richard😀😀😀😀

@@HQBProductions Very kind, thank you Richard. Sadly I was only responsible for the demolition not the construction. I stripped it all out, removed the engine, gear box & prop.
