That’s quite the old girl there. Thirty years old. She must be well cared for. Growing up we had a Holsteiner who lived to 37 years. He was a lovely old boy.
beautiful red leopard. Awesome work. I grew up in a small town in Germany, and my pony had her shoes hot-fitted every time. It was a thing back then. I walked her through two villages, and the blacksmith/farrier's shop was downtown on a cobblestone road. Miss those days. None of this is left, I was told.
Man that horse is beautiful. And I know the video is about the horse but there's something about watching a shoe be handmade from a straight piece of metal. Awesome work.💪
I do love horses! What you do is beautiful !! The power of transformation and wellbeing of them! Love it! Very engaging! Thank you for sharing knowledge ! Blessings
These old horses deserve the best treatment in the world! And I got the urge to slather that hoof in some good hoofoil after. Beautiful result, and I'm sure that horse feel a lot more comfy. I could tell they really appreciated the care! As someone whos had horses in their 30s and late 20s I know all to well how the hooves change with age, and how important hoof care is for their overall health and wellness. No hooves no horse. Amazing job as alway! Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful brought back memories for sure I was only 8 my dad was always putting shoes on his work horses he made mines rember. For coal mines. I’ve enjoyed watching this them tools still the same
Seriously.....you are a master at work. Your workmanship and understanding of the issues helps all the horses you care for immeasurably. Brilliant work.
I'm really amazed by the work you guys do ! I have always liked horses but the experiences i have with the few i have been around was not good almost bitten the first time and partially headbutted the the 2nd so left me scared around them. So i just admire them from afar
Exceptional channel, absolutely love the work you incredible guys do for these beautiful horses, 30 yrs old, that's awesome, I could watch you making shoes all day long, thank you so much, and take care.👍💙🐎
Your talent and hard work in getting to the level you have achieved is impressive. You always do fantastic work on each horse. Congrats on rendering a beautiful foot every time from across the country in western NC, little Burnsville!! Love your work out here 👍🐎
I love that they are still providing such detailed care for an old 30-year old. Not everyone does; many would provide a routine trim (if that) and let the horse go unshod. Great job.
You must have a natural spiritual connection to these animals. How else can one take a rod of hot metal and a hammer and make these curative, magnificent works of art?
You do incredible work! Years ago we got our horses trimmed up by a Ferrier out of Cranbrook, B.C., his name was Vern, and he was the best Ferrier I ever got to work with. Vern could trim up or shoe a horse in short order, and his work was always top notch!
Appaloosas have a soft spot in my heart. I rode one a sweet Appy pony that was about this age in my late 20s. He was the sweetest (if not a bit manic at times.) Another great heart bar.
I dont know why more horses arent shod w/ a rounded-off toe. It helps so much w/ breakover & better mechanics of their stride. My gelding moves so much better w/ rounded toes...
Could this horse have just been trimmed? At 30 I would hope it isn't being ridden anymore and gets to spend its last years in a nice pasture. BTW its awesome how you beat the crap out of a piece of metal and turn it into a shoe that fits the horse perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
There are horses that when they reach senior age (18) will willingly retire and go to pasture. Some will want to work into their 20s before they say, "I wish to retire to the pastures and eat grass all day now." And then there are the Abbys and Gooses in the world - who were 32 when I rehabbed her and are 29 (his current age); they simply hear the word "retirement" and throw tantrums. They're happiest and feel most fulfilled having some sort of job, even if it's just a lesson or two. Abby eventually did retire; Goose is semi-retired. He plays more than he works (not that he knows this.) Every single horse is different and it's not wrong for them to work at 30. It's only wrong if the horse clearly shows he HATES working.
Thank you!! You finally explained what you were doing and why!! I appreciated that so much!! You just didn't just shoe a horse. You gave a reason WHY you were shoeing it the way you did. It wasn't a SILENT VIDEO!! YAY!! Thank you so much again. From a Retired Paramedic and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖 🇨🇦🇺🇲
Beautiful job trimming his hoof, cleaning it up and the custom shoe is perfect!! He must feel so much better. It will be wonderful when you’ve fixed the other three. . He won’t know how to act!! Thanks for fixing him up so well. ❤❤
My complements! 🎉To me, being a farrier is an awesome combination of artist & strongman...😊 Artist in that you literally convert something that looks like a hoof into a real one...the same for new shoes....the "strongman" is the sheer physical effort to do both...last but not least, the love of horses & the way you relieve their distress & make them new again...that is why I subbed...May God bless you & all those who do this necessary work....😊
Farriers generally don't have to change how they clip the hooves. It's very dependent on if they have arthritis or not. My lesson pony is 29 and the farrier does him like any other horse or pony. We (his people) do take extra time to pick his feet and look for rocks, abscesses, thrush, etc. His feet are more prone to infection and such.
First time viewer here. I am awestruck!! This was fascinating to watch. What a true and beautiful skill; hard work, artistry and functionality. I had no idea. Can't wait to check out your channel. Thank you !!
What a beautiful horse. It is really a work of art to make the shoes. My hands would be burned to bloody stumps as I would certainly grab a hot shoe at some point.
I have not been around horses for 30 years and I find these videos fascinating. Even back in the day I had no idea of the almost unlimited types of problems farriers have to manage. Hard to believe what many horses suffer especially given the unrelieved weight on their hooves. As I have said, surgeon, engineer, artist all part of being a farrier's vocation.
That's a beautiful boy. He looks so majestic and regal. It's only right he be treated by people as good as you.
He’s just hanging out getting a pedicure, he looks relaxed. Love it. Dude! Wake me up when it’s over.
Wow this craft is truly an art form. You’re so talented. And I bet that old horse is going to feel like a million bucks 🎉❤
A MILLION TIME BETTER FOR THE HORSE YOU REALLY NEVER SEEM TO AMAZE ME ON YOUR CHISES FOR THE WELL OF THE ANIMAL 🥰
That’s quite the old girl there. Thirty years old. She must be well cared for. Growing up we had a Holsteiner who lived to 37 years. He was a lovely old boy.
The skill of these farriers is simply incredible. Fascinating to watch
Fabulous work, love watching and your reasons for how you make the shoe. Doing a full set of shoes takes time and the horses are so patient.

Aww
Gosh hope that horse can get back to halfway normal but in the meantime you probably made him feel 10 years younger
Thank you
The inside of a horses foot/ hoof looks like an owl.😊❤
@@lisarichardson8639 That is because it is an owl. Did you not know that owls live on horses' feet?
Man that horse is beautiful. And I know the video is about the horse but there's something about watching a shoe be handmade from a straight piece of metal. Awesome work.💪
I love this channel.😊😊
The horse is so calm. Blessings to you.
I really love watching what you do for all these horses, giving them much needed relief. Not to mention learning.
Great to watch a Journeyman solving each unique horse hoof problems

Amazing job as alway! Thank you for sharing!
These are so satisfying to watch.
She looks as though she loves a good pedicure. He is an artist with that horseshoe.
30 years I didn't know horses can live that long
Sure can! My two lived to 30 and 34. With good care it's possible but just like with humans, every horse is different.
Yes, some live well into their 30s. My lesson pony is 29 and is laughing in the face of retirement. He refuses to give up his lifestyle.
30 years isn't very old yet, I was still competing with my oldest until 36. He passed at 38. All of my horses have gotten to at least 35.
Medium life span of horses 25-30 years, not long. With a well care they can live to 35-40 years .
So labor intensive. It sure requires knowledge and practice. What an art!
Good job 👍 Lot of skill in this guys hands 🙌
Beautiful brought back memories for sure I was only 8 my dad was always putting shoes on his work horses he made mines rember. For coal mines. I’ve enjoyed watching this them tools still the same
I would have loved to see the four hooves. Thank you !
Such craftsmanship. Without any machines, computers, measurements. Pure skill.
I love to watch you work.
Incredible how good these guys are.
I'm amazed at the work you guys do 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Love your videos!!! So interesting and informative! And when you make custom shoes… extra treat!
Glad you like them!
Miraculous ! Such an eye for shape and form. And that right arm !
that appie has that signature "human eye" - unique to that breed - don't see it that often anymore - they've bred it out of them :(
Seriously.....you are a master at work. Your workmanship and understanding of the issues helps all the horses you care for immeasurably. Brilliant work.
Man I feel like any horse that makes it to 30 should get full health coverage, old girl deserves a proper shoeing whenever she needs it =D
I'm really amazed by the work you guys do ! I have always liked horses but the experiences i have with the few i have been around was not good almost bitten the first time and partially headbutted the the 2nd so left me scared around them. So i just admire them from afar
Congratulations on your excellent work 👏👏👏

I enjoy watching you and you explaining what you are doing.
You guys do a lot of really good work for these horses, getting them back to moving around better with less pain.
Now you know where the old saying Strike while the Iron is hot. Think is a work of art
Beautiful job done. On a beautiful horse.🐎
A very satisfying job.
Love watching you work. Amazing as always. Can smell the hot steel and hooves sizzling in my memory.
Great work as always but I can’t believe you guys walk around all day with those ankle breaker grooves in the concrete floor !
What a beautiful horse!
Trabalho de artificie,Deus lhe retribua com prosperidade 🙏🏼🐎🇧🇷

Impressive young man! And the horse! Live long and prosper!
What skill sets ! And a fine understanding of problem solving for the unique hoof. And , you are fun to watch !
Can't wait to see the results!

Id like to see the whole shoing process all 4 hooves some time.
Clever rocker toe and frog support
What a wonderful skill to have. Bless you. You help so many magnificent animals. Thank you 😊 ❤.

The work you do never ceases to amaze me. Beautiful craftsmanship all around!
😢😢😢 I can't stand it when people neglect their animal's care. If you can't do it then please turn them over to someone that can!
Very nice work.
You boys get it done.
thank you, absolute perfekte Schmiedearbeit - ❤ from Germany

Just a matter of curiosity from a newbie...Do you ever do the other three hoofs? They look pretty rough also.
there is something soothing to me about watching horses being shoed and hoofs trimmed. the horses seem to know your taking good care of them.😊

Hope those are steel toed crocs around these 1000 pound horses 😂
A true custom Work of ART!
Do you change your procedures at all for very elderly horses like this one? Or is it dependent on their state of health like a horse of any other age?
Farriers generally don't have to change how they clip the hooves. It's very dependent on if they have arthritis or not. My lesson pony is 29 and the farrier does him like any other horse or pony. We (his people) do take extra time to pick his feet and look for rocks, abscesses, thrush, etc. His feet are more prone to infection and such.
Just a little bit long. Very slight, no biggy.
Jesus, 30 years old! That’s like 90 in human years.
I seem to remember hearing that Appaloosas tend to require rocker toes. Never understood why before.
Why do you tap the hammer on the anvil between hits to the metal?
It helps to keep the rhythm going.
how do You measure the mm sizes, if the iron is hot?
I can't imagine this precise work!
stunning!👍
love to see it but have to put my volume down
It is nice to watch a professional
I enjoy your work! You are so good at what you do.
Gorgeous horse. You fellas are amazing. If I lived in the area and had horses your place would be the only ones allowed to touch my horses feet. ❤❤❤
First time viewer here. I am awestruck!! This was fascinating to watch. What a true and beautiful skill; hard work, artistry and functionality. I had no idea. Can't wait to check out your channel. Thank you !!
Très bon travail ❤
Once again a great job!!! I love watching you work!!! Thanks for posting these vids!!! Highly enjoyable!!!
Harmony
Outstanding work .😊
That horse sure did look like it was enjoying its pedicure. Well behaved! 😆
That was amazing ! Thanks .
What a beauty, my favorite horse. Thank you.
What a beautiful horse. It is really a work of art to make the shoes. My hands would be burned to bloody stumps as I would certainly grab a hot shoe at some point.
I love the sound of pounding the hot metal.

Not to mention the female farrier who won in one episode of “Forged in Fire.”
Do those sparks hurt if they hit your bare skin?
Hoof dust falling from rasping is so satisfying
Awesome work that is skill right there!!
👍👍👍
Thanks!
تمیز کردن تراش دادن سم و نعل کردن و در آخر کار واکس میزنه دیدنش بهم آرامش میده . شما چطور ؟ 👍🐴
Wonderful the difference you make in these beautiful animals' lives.
That is some very nice work!
This man is an artist. I post it every time. He amazes me.
