  • Join me as I return to Knott's Berry Farm for the first time since 2015 in this action packed vlog! In 2020 Knott's will celebrate its 100th anniversary and in this vlog I check out all of the major rides at the park along with the various changes since my previous visit. I share my first reactions to HangTime, GhostRider and many other different experiences that I've never done before.
In this vlog I explore Ghost Town along with taking a look inside the various different buildings that make up this immersive wild west themed town. I also take a ride on a traditional stagecoach, step on board the Calico Railroad and much more as I delve into the history of this iconic theme park!

I absolutely love this park now after my second visit a few weeks ago, it’s got to be one of the best original theme parks in America, the theming is amazing and the rides are awesome especially GhostRider which is now one of my top wooden coasters

When I was a kid, I would come to knott's just about every weekend and on the slow days we wouldn't even get out of the train for montezuma's revenge. I think one time we went 5 times in a row... I ended up working there in the late 90's. Sad to see the knott family give it up but cedar fair seems to be doing a great job now vs when they first started.

yay! Knott's is one of my favorite parks anywhere. The history, theming, and thrills are combined into an amazing experience. Glad you enjoyed it. I always think that my love for Knott's is colored by childhood memories, but you have reassured me and your viewers that it is a stand alone amazing place worthy of a visit! I was surpised to learn that Knott's is Cedar Fair's most visited park. I have to ask though, no Mrs. Knott's chicken dinner?!!!

Knotts is literally one of my favorite parks in the world and your visit here in this video just shows how great this park really is. The only thing you missed was a meal at mrs. It's one of my favorite coasters, and I'm lucky enough to have it at my home park!
I had my best ride ever on GhostRider a few months ago, at night:
I left my seatbelt really loose, only clicked the lapbar down maybe 3-4 clicks. Held my thighs up at the start so I wouldn't get stapled. I was pretty much standing on every drop, and it was unbelievable.
Edit: I remember that train robbery used to be much less PG, haha.
When I went on that as a kid with my family, the robber called my brother the red headed bastard step child of our family, haha

just a little history on the train, it was a real used train on the Denver and Rio Grande railroad. Walter Knott was able to buy two locomotives and a couple of rolling stocks. He also bought a galloping goose which was used during the Great depression; It was a truck like train that was used on the tracks. So yeah very authentic ride. glad you enjoyed

This is a really nice park, real pretty! I would love to come here someday. I loved the Old West theme there and that is cool they have a museum in the park. The train ride looks amazing!!! Same with the carriage ride around the park. It would be kind of cool if Busch Gardens Williamsburg did something like that and have their Clydesdale's pull the carriage around the park. The Coast Rider looks like the clone of Apple Zapple originally called Ricochet at Kings Dominion.

I remember how much you enjoyed the Calico mine ride in 2015 nice to see you enjoying it again . One thing that makes me sad, you're to Young to have experienced the old mine train ride California Alex spoke about at Disneyland in 2016. You are correct , Walt spent a lot of time at Knotts and was sort of addicted to Miss's Knott's fried chicken and Boysenberry pie however, when Walt decided to include a mine train his version was truly superior in every way. It was beautiful and it breaks my heart given your love of dark rides you missed it.

Especially after the refurbishment of old time classics like the log ride, calico mine ride, Big Foot rapids, ghost rider and the chicken dinner restaurant...plus the addition of Hangtime which is fun and looks absolutely stunning at night. The park gets lost behind the likes of Disneyland, Magic Mountain and Universal Studios, but it really is top notch on its own and adds to the great theme park lineup in Southern California.

Sol spin was a mondial Ventura not a topscan. I don’t blame you for not knowing however because they are basically the same except the ventura is the permanent installation without the retracting floor and a different arm lifting system. Also it has 6 seats per row instead of 5. I think it was so empty because everyone is too scared about it!

Knotts actually has the highest attendance of any cedar fair park. Yes, even more than Cedar Point. I never understand why they spend so much money on new rides at Cedar Point and until recently they almost neglected Knotts Berry Farm with next to nothing. Finally the last 5 years has seen more major improvements and new rides and maybe they finally realize how stupid it was that they did not do more for their #1 theme park before. The park is land locked but I think the rumors are true that they are going to be doing a major expansion soon. They are better off spending more money here than any of their other parks.

I'm glad I made it to the three best amusement parks in England then SFMM and Knott's in mid-late autumn 2019, and also that you made it to Knott's in early 2020 before the shutdowns due to Covid. I rode Sierra Sidewinder four times, all in the back car. Unfortunately I only got a good spin on it the 1st time, but that 1st ride was incredible! It was a night ride too, and I literally had the spins in the end, but in a good way (as I don't get motion sickness). Hangtime was probably my 2nd favourite ride in the park after Ghostrider; like The Smiler I prefer the back car of Hangtime due to it's one or two airtime hills respectively.
Whilst Xceleratator doesn't have as fast a rate of acceleration on its launch as Stealth, the layout is better and there's only T bar lap restrains. The only other Intamin Accelerator coaster I've ridden that's better is Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.
Ghostrider is the best wooden coaster I've ridden, trying with Coaster at Playland in Vancouver. It may even be the best coaster in all of California, possibly even beating out Twisted Colossus at SFMM. Thanks for posting this video!

I showed my ca driving licence and got another 20% off not bad. oh well we will have to put up with alton towers only 12 miles from me but never go. great vlogs see you had a good trip. ps. my mum is spring cleaning may have some early 90,s merch mugs from Disney knotts and stuff like them to go in your collection I will try and see if still have them if have your welcome to have them let me know cheers, andy

You never have to ride a coaster (hence , big fat chicken cat here lol ) , all you have to do is hear Shawn describe it , and you feel like you've ridden it!
    Hey Shawn?
Will you and Alex be back at King's Island this year for Orion's debut?
Would love to coincide the dates , a birthday gift to my son , just me and him , and King's Island!
Hopefully so , and hopefully you will get that long awaited nighttime Beast ride!

Another great park with fantastic rides and authentic western theme that once again you seemed to have to yourself. The steam train and stagecoach ride looked amazing. A great vlog but such a pity that you weren’t allowed to film on the coasters.

Big Thunder Railroad was definitely inspired by Calico Mine Ride as you can see alot of similarities in the train designs, the lit up caverns, and the TNT explosion scenes towards the end. Mr. Knott invited Mr. Disney to ride Calico Mine when it was first open and Walt Disney was especially impressed with the queue design that goes deep into the mountain which allows guests to enjoy the theming while waiting in line. Calico Mine's queue design also gives guests the impression that the line is not that long looking from the entrance and that will entice them to go on the ride. Walt Disney came back to Disneyland and applied that idea to many of Disneyland's attractions.

What #Mike DeRollerCoasterGuy said, I know I'm beginning to sound like a broken record Shawn but VERY WELL DONE. You know, I've gone to parks on my own before and it's just not as fun but I'm never filming a VLOG. Having viewed so many of your VLOG's I've lost count I believe I can safely say I prefer when you're on your own. You notice everything, and appreciate all the little details and history and it enhances the VLOG. Sometimes that gets' lost a bit while with a group or even one person. I love this park, it's history, and attractions and I love to see other's discover that. I was married at this park in 1984 and Terry Van Gorder who was the CEO at the time attended and on a whim decorated that very stagecoach to shuttle Shannan and I to our car. I raised four daughters and all of their firsts were in either this park or Disneyland down the road. SO many memories' . Cheers and God speed, we need to get you back to doing what you do best.

Do you think you could be coming back sometime in the future around September and October to check out Knott's Scary Farm? I actually find Knott's Scary Farm to be better than Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights! Knott's lacks the budget and IPs that Universal has, but they absolutely make it up in my mind with loving charm. It's like just a really charming Halloween event with a lot of fun and imaginative mazes. Plus they decorate the Timber Mountain Log Ride to become the Halloween Hootenany which is just a really kooky and fun ride with a unique soundtrack that easily gets stuck in your head. Cheers! Glad to have subscribed to this channel! Hope to be seeing more videos from around the world!

@@ThemeParkWorldwide Here's something to keep in mind! Bud Hurlbut had a hand in designing a lot of Knott's attractions early on, and especially had a big hand in designing and building the Calico Mine Ride and Timber Mountain Log Ride. Later on Bud Hurlbut would design and build his own amusement park, Castle Park, located in Riverside California. It's not as themed or as big as Knott's Berry Farm (You can fit all of Castle Park inside Knott's large car park) but it does have his touch. There's a barebones log flume and a train ride that uses the same vehicles as the Calico Mine Ride. And there's an absolutely massive mini golf area as well. A cute but small amusement park with standard carnival attractions and an awesome mini golf course that is tentatively connected to Knott's through its creator.
The park won't take up the whole day so if you do visit that small but quaint park there's also the California Citrus State Park as well as the historic Riverside Mission Inn and Fox Theater as well if you have time out that way to check out.
