    ----------------------------------------------
Experience electric driving like never before. The new CLIO E-TECH Hybrid combines an electric and combustion engine with a particularly efficient multi-mode automatic transmission. The result: crisp starts in electric mode, optimized electric driving for up to 80% of the distance in the city and the fun of being silent.
If you choose a hybrid vehicle, you will use up to 40% less fuel compared to a conventional combustion engine - on the highway or in the city. In the new CLIO E-TECH you are completely relaxed on the road: a large range, no dependence on charging stations, plus the comfort and space that you expect from a CLIO!
The new CLIO E-TECH hybrid ensures safe and powerful torque thanks to the combined 140 hp. The responsiveness of the electric motors and the multi-mode automatic transmission provide rapid acceleration and smooth gear changes. Enjoy the different modes of the MULTI-SENSE and the individual driving experience.
Unique E-TECH markers are also present on the ‘Smart Cockpit’, including an E-TECH badge on the gear stick. The Stop & Start button has been replaced by an EV button to switch directly to ‘PURE’ mode (all-electric) whiledriving.
The hybrid engine on the 140hp Clio E-TECH Hybrid offers maximum efficiency and unparalleled dynamic responsiveness on the road, accelerating from 80 to 120 kph in just 6.9 seconds.
Regenerative braking, combined with the high charging capacity of the 1.2 kWh (230 V) batteries and the efficiency of the E-TECH system, helps to optimise energy. In fact, 80% of the time spent on city roads is in allelectric mode, for a consumption saving of up to 40% compared with an internal combustion engine in urban cycle, with no change in driving habits. In all-electric mode, the Clio E-TECH Hybrid can travel at up to 70-75 kph.
Together, the hybrid devices represent an additional weight of no more than about 10 kilos compared to a dCi 115 engine. In combined cycle, the Clio E-TECH consumes 4.3 litres/100 km and emits 96 grams of CO2/km (WLTP results). The batteries do not reduce the boot space (300 litres), the rear bench seat still folds down and there is still room for the spare wheel. By combining comfort and performance, it can offer dynamic features worthy of the highest segment, whilst retaining the versatility that it has shown over the last 30 years.
The Clio E-TECH Hybrid offers a hitherto unheard-of driving experience, based on the intelligence of the system and on optimised energy management rules. The combination selected on the traction chain responds to the driver’s detected intention (power request) and to the permanent calculation of optimal output. This benefits both performance and consumption.
The driver has no need to bother about any parameters, the E-TECH technology sets them automatically, and imperceptibly. This ensures a remarkably agreeable experience and a more relaxing drive, without sacrificing the pleasure, thanks to the combination of the high performance (140hp) system, with a significant electric contribution, and a versatile, responsive chassis. The MULTI-SENSE settings allow the driver to choose a driving mode to suit their mood or the current road profile. The My Sense Mode is best for daily use. It offers the best compromises for a drive that blends reliable roadholding and a real sense of dynamism upon acceleration. This is due to the continuing “electric effect” (electric starting always, instantly available torque, etc.) that is easy to maintain and repeat, particularly in urban use but
at higher speeds too. Eco Mode uses a less dynamic, more measured mapping of the accelerator pedal, and on the adapted gear change rules. Sport Mode, on the other hand, takes advantage of the system’s full potential for response times and performance. The feeling of fun that it offers is unrivalled on the small hybrid market. Real-time indications of the behaviour adopted are given on the instrument panel and in the multimedia system, by the animated flow diagram showing the direction of circulation and the nature of the energy that is supplying the traction (electrical, mechanical, combined). The power meter on the instrument panel shows the level of
power requested by the pedal load as well as the regenerative phases (foot lifted off the accelerator, braking).Lastly, the battery charge meter on the left of the instrument panel indicates the quantity of available electrical energy in real time, plus the consumption trend associated with the power demand and/or the road profile.

Clio diesel starts at 18300 euros here i see no reason to chose the hybrid. And if we are to compare it with another hybrid. Well Corolla is more efficient, more spacious and with less than 100grams so no emission tax and you can get it with 23000 euros....... Clio hybrid costs 25000 euros...... kinda pointless Id say. Actually acc. to WLTP the Clio is rated for 99g CO2/km. Regarding the costs it's true, there are other options if this is a critical aspect but if you like to go for an electrified power train, than it's so far a somewhat fair price-range. With all discounts I will get mine for a bit more than 23k Eur (Ger) but with almost all features. In fact, in Germany there is currently no Diesel option so far available, the "biggest" petrol engine you can get is the TCe90.

Did a test drive in this car today . I don't know if the car was faulty, but the petrol engine would rev up at random when recharging the batteries and sometimes it sounded like a plumber was trapped inside the engine. The car drives and handles well and the lane keep assist is very effective on the motorway. But the uncontrollable revving and plumbing sounds from the engine is a nuisance. My advice is to avoid this at all cost and go for a Toyota Yaris or Honda Jazz, if you are in the market for a small hybrid car.

I tested the previous Yaris HSD generation and this current Clio and due to the reviews here online, design, costs and my own preferences, I actually bought the hybrid Clio - unfortunately I'm still waiting for delivery.
The Clio is more serious/classy not that playful like the Yaris in terms of design (espacially in the interior) and a bit more sporty as well, which is directly connected to the higher power output. If you need a tow bar then the Clio has a higher towing capacity than the Yaris as well - a point which counts much for my side.
Consumption wise the Yaris could be a bit better but just in a small percentage number, I only can guess around 10%. So it depends on the discounts on your local car dealer, which might be more sensible in terms of the cost of ownership. Nonetheless I could achieve some 3,8l/100km over 80km of test-driving it, mostly on country roads (up to 100km/h) and a bit of village passages. It's questionable if the Yaris would consume significantly less fuel.
Just to be fair, the current Yaris offers more gadets on driving assist, if this might be important.
