  • The #girlboss is dead. And with the likes of Meghan Markle & Elizabeth Holmes claiming the title, is it any wonder that, in less than a decade, #girlboss skyrocketed to the highest realms of social media, only to plummet face first onto the proverbial pavement of #lyfe? In this video, we briefly examine what caused this rapid fall from grace. Buckle up!

My mum worked for men her whole career until her boss was replaced two years before she retired, with a woman. This woman had to be seen to be above everyone and would take credit for my mum's work and undermine her. Retirement couldn't come soon enough.
15 years ago if I heard that something was racist or misogynistic I'd believe it unless I heard evidence to the contrary. These days I automatically assume the opposite unless I see evidence - most of the time those cards are pulled to deflect away from the real reason, making me very suspicious!

Dating Woman who descripe themselves as this are from my experience extremly arrogant, toxic people and gell to be around. Often with no accountability or any kind of empathy. I think the worst I have met was someone who seems nice first but than on the date expected unreasonable behaviour like she wanted a servant was proud to tell she had... 20 guys in a night and called me insecure cause I had none of that behaviour and left.

A lot of feminists unfortunately use the accusations of discrimination as a weapon, and unfortunately many of them are the faces of feminism today, and it just invites more of those with the same mindset to get involved. Meanwhile this comes at the expense of everyone else, and the average woman is put in the position of not being trusted and having to work harder to earn their respect because of how these aggressive women running the show for selfish reasons are making it worse.

I had a female manager bully me during a pregnancy at work. It is LAW in Canada to permit women to attend all doctor’s appointments during pregnancy, yet she continually berated me for needing to. Of course the main theme was “well, when I was pregnant…” comparisons. I don’t care if you pushed yourself to a dangerous limit, I’m not risking mine or my infant’s health. I took ONE sick day my entire pregnancy and she fought me on it. Thankfully, her supervisor was an amazing strong REAL boss who dealt with the situation with fairness and compassion. During a meeting of reprimand my manager sobbed crocodile tears like a victim apologizing to me in front of the supervisor. Embarrassing and I just sat there awkwardly.

The funny thing is maybe a decade ago, I heard "astroturfed" relating to politics, & had to listen carefully to learn that was fake grassroots. Like people from other states being paid to go protest in another state - and they were paid! Grassroots is organic. Meghan Markle is as far from real/authentic/grassroots as a person can be, from what I've observed. Her vocabulary is pretty limited. She picked up a few British sayings, remember she told Oprah "that's when the penny dropped!"

Markle pulled one of the biggest cons in the recent history. For the audience of one, she studied Harry and knows him
better then anyone else. She delivered and convinced Harry that "she and their unborn child are in danger" while allegations of her bullying were about to be exposed. A great enough distraction for Harry to get even more lost and confused. Markles probably expected RF to start defending her in public which they refused knowing exactly what happened and that there are - witnesses. Harry threw a tantrum
bul William had non of it and confronted the brother. Harry, in the meantime, already brainwashed and probably emotionally blackmailed by "on the kitchen floor" crying Markle, could not see the con she was pulling on him. The rest is history.

As a woman in a field that is probably 90% female, nursing, I had 1 absolutely phenomenal female boss and the remainder were just plain nasty, and thats over a 42 year career in nursing. The 2 male nurse bosses I worked under were clearly moved up because they were male, as neither was qualified to manage the hospital unit they were running, but they were at least pleasant to work for.
I finished my career with an early retirement over the most "girl boss" I had ever worked under. And she had no issues with me, but I could not handle the bullying handed out to my coworkers, which I objected to right to top hospital administration. I thought she would be the CNO of that hospital system someday as they kept promoting her, knowing her bitchy personality, but a larger system bought them out, and now she's not a big fish in a little pond, she's a little fish in a big pond, where you can choose from nice people with great managerial skills to run your departments.

Now I’m in my mid 50’s and it I always recall how these women made me feel when I was first starting out. I have always tried to put that light in my people I’m training, both male and female. Co-workers yound enough to be daughters and grand daughters that when I see them away from work, I get a hug. The whole GirlBoss trend gave insecure women a reason to be a private part. They are missing out in one of the best reasons to go to work. A solid workplace that even when the job sucks, you have each other to make it tolerable and there is always a laugh. I’ll take those kind of Ladies any day in my corner! I have lots!

I was chef over 16 male electrians, but I never saw me either as a girl, being an adult woman, nor a boss. Yes, I decided where they had to, one has to do it. But when they came back and they had half an hour before end of the workday I send them home. On the other hand, if work took half an hour extra they didn't complain.

I had a woman boss back in 1977. I worked under her for 9 years and she was lovely. Very very good at her job and always there to help her staff when necessary. This *new idea* of women bosses has been put forward by these idiots who were never given discipline in schools and think they are mini gods! Bring back discipline in and out school. Let people lose at sports. Show them they can be valuable without being top all the time. Teach kindness not entitlement!

I got involved in the "Feminist Movement" in college, end of the 70s. Even then, I could observe the toxicity of some feminists. Out in the working world, one of my most challenging bosses was a woman. You hit the nail on the head in this video (Although you do that in each of your videos!!) WHEN will there be TRUE equality between the sexes- that is, you are a good employee- a bad employee; a good boss, a bad boss- REGARDLESS of gender??!

Great Video. I have been in a career that is predominately male for over 30 years, and yes I have experienced what you discussed here personally. I also have to agree with the fact that one of my worst bosses was a woman, she was rude, demeaning, and verbally abusive, I also never got paid (I was a freelancer at the time). I recently worked with a toxic woman who had chased away two employees before I started, and was working on a third employee. It soon became clear that I was to be her fourth victim, luckily I was secure enough to walk away from the job. Six months later she was fired, and by claiming she was a victim, convinced the elderly residents to give her money because she couldn't find a job.

Thank you LBP for tackling another polarizing subject. The term "girl boss" always chaffed me, but I couldn't quite put my finger on "why". The term (to me) sounded childish. The women who were labelled this in photographs had an air of haughtiness about them and when they spoke they sounded petulant and obnoxious. When the word became the battle cry of the MLM leaders and their wannabe recruits, it became a red flag for me in terms of unsavoury character traits and people I wanted to avoid. Thank you for all the research and hard work you do on this channel. You are a refreshing voice of reason and a talented orator. Best wishes to you and your partner and cheers from Canada!

A girl boss is never attractive when she is a pushy broad. As for the Harkles’ staff being demeaned & emotionally abused … when did Harry & his wife ever garner the professional experience to run an office or oversee a staff? Did they even know what they were doing or just winging it? It is too easy to blame others when one lacks the management skills and foresight. But when one’s staff has been screened by HR … then the onus is on the Harkles for lacking the business background to run & achieve their objectives. The Harkles were running a clandestine power play against the RF and relying on others to set up a separate enterprise (unknown to anyone except their US agents) who were awaiting their arrival to launch Sussex Royal. It’s no wonder they were deceiving staff as they had a hidden agenda. They are & still are parasitic sensationalists of the worst kind who prey on society’s lust for scandal so they could reap personal & financial benefits by using their Royal titles for themselves. From a very early age, Royal children are instilled with giving back to society and that by using the Royal title for themselves was unacceptable. Harry failed to educate MM on protocol and he was too weak to take on a pushy broad. Lying and too much hubris is never a good idea especially when the girl boss is caught.

I worked in IT in an area that at the time did not have many woman - desktop and system support. The best boss I ever had was ex-military, was a lot younger than me, and was brilliant. The worst I had was a woman who was hired as team leader while I was on maternity leave. I came back part-time and was trying to express milk at work, This was prior to these things often being considered in work place agreements. I ended up stopping because I literally was able to express half the amount of milk when she was in to when she wasn't. On the flip side, my second best boss was also a woman.

I have to say, I'm a feminist, but the most toxic boss I EVER had, the one that reduced me to walking out of my job one day and never going back, that drove me into not being able to set foot in an office ever since...was a woman boss.
She destroyed me psychologically to a point that I literally feared setting foot in an office going forward.
I still walk into offices now, smell them and it takes me back to that awful woman.
None of my male bosses EVER made me feel like that.

I have serious issues with that incongruity of human nature. (There are no children)

Ms. Markle claims to be a strong and independent woman. However, she has relied on men for everything in her life. It isn’t bad to rely on others, but she doesn’t acknowledge those who have supported her in life. Her father paid for her schooling, her ex husband helped her get acting jobs, and Prince Harry helped her get a title. She isn’t grateful to any of these men. When I heard she mailed her ex husband back the wedding ring to signal the divorce, I felt disgusted. She is the antithesis of a strong and independent woman.

Years ago I read a book called Good Bosses Do. Even though I was not in authorative position, it was a guideline as to what to look for in a boss and a personal guideline on how to act in the office. You are spot on as how a leader acts. I was also in the military and understand the ratio of men to women.

On the use of the word girl: unfortunately "girl" starts with a hard consonant, and therefore sounds more powerful than the word "woman" , and I think that's why people used it to express power. Most swear-words start and/or end with a hard consonant ... a "b" or a "t" or a "k" or a "p".
Girlboss sounds more powerful than Womanleader; that's just the way it is.

I must say that the worst bully bosses in my life have all been women (I am a woman myself). We used to discuss with my co-workers whether this was because their mental health got ruined on their way up or if the system was built in a way that allowed only borderline psychopathic women to reach and hold a position of power.
