The way you explain and showcase gear is truly beyond everyone else. It has structure, feels complete and is easy to follow. Your videos are the only ones I’m going out feeling I actually got an idea what something does.
Thank you so much! A ton of work goes into making these videos, and I'm so glad you find them helpful! I hope you have a great day :)
👆❤
@@emilyharpist2to be fair he’s right. Yours is the only demo that makes me want to buy one
Em & Russ are such gems. Always fun, always funny.❤👍😃🤣
@@emilyharpist2love your vids! Which LED patch cables are those, they look neet.
First time I’ve come across your channel. Your approach is superb. The amount of work going into each point is clearly way beyond what anyone else is doing. No fluff, no filler, all punchy, meaningful, relatable and understandable. I am taken aback at the quality. Thank you.
Thank you so much! A ton of work goes into these videos haha so I really appreciate that!
Best Labyrinth demo I’ve seen so far! Good to see Moog getting into generative tech. 😎
Thanks so much! Moog made a really bold move entering west coast territory and I'm so here for it
emily is terrified of modular synths, HARP LADY has no fear
I will not start euroracking, I will not start euroracking, I will not start euroracking, I will not start euroracking! On the other hand… 😍
euroracking is very cool together with elektron gear trust me :D
I have all the moog semi modular stand alone units, but since I don't put them in a case, I can say I'm not a euroraker.
as far as I can tell, this is all just black magic. "Just add a frog's eye and it sounds like this. But if you add ram's blood, you get this instead" 🤣
Yr "Really cool modular patch" at 9:20 was a super enjoyable listen. Thank you so much for composing and sharing that!
0:37 THAT IS SUCH A GOOD PATCH WOW
Another happy landing! I had the MF-104Z Analog delay and 2/3 MOOG EXP pedals for Delay and Feedback. The third was for the MIX, so you make choices with a pedal that has 3 EXP inputs. Such amazing stuff. So happy you two got one and are having a good time. Bob Moog continues to bless us all. Cheers!🌏🌍🌎👍😃
Sick… all of it … so sick. ❤
Great demo. Not my favorite form of synthesis but I appreciate when it’s extremely well demonstrated! Great job showcasing the Labyrinth’s potential. This honestly blew me away and I bet in another week, I will order one 😂
u have a favorite form of synthesis? 😒
Great video! Those light-up patch cables look fantastic-what brand are they?
Thanks so much! They’re from myvolts. I have a link to them in the video description!
@@emilyharpist2 thanks Emily !
That ambient patch at the end was truly inspiring. It even made me go check how much a Labyrinth is!
I've held off going down the sequencing rabbit hole for a long time but this could be the gateway drug that gets me hooked. Damn you Emily what hast thou wrought 🤔
that first modular patch was so cool!
Such a useful video! Love making music with you guys!
You’re the best! Thanks so much!
@@emilyharpist2 awwww!
Look up Canadian composer David Kristian, he released an album back in 1998 called, “Beneath the Valley of the Modulars” that has songs that sound like this Moog… of course he was working with ‘90s synths (and vintage gear) back then.
Those patches sounded sooooo good!! You’ve really added a lot of modules since the last time I saw your setup!!❤❤❤
Hey Emily Hopkins and Russ! The harp may be the prominent medium you create with but you really are a highly skilled composer. Thanks for all the wonderful audio. It helps me drift away into a positive space when I really need it! Ride ride ride!
Ride ride ride!
I echo everyone's sentiment re: your demos. Easy to follow and i feel like i come out knowing more.
Now to go and buy one....
bob moog died for our synths.
im liking your style of darkery
If he can hear the ‘tone’ of this thing, he’s spinning in his grave …
Very good review... I have been trying to get more info on this unique little synth...I have now seen enough to pull the trigger and get one... thank you Ma'am...
And all that sounds like this... so beautiful...
Awesome video! I would love to see what this can do when paired with the Subharmonicon. I’ve had that thing for a while and still not sure what to do with it.
That patch at the end is stunning, I could listen to that all day
"and all that sounds like this" - Gottcha!
Very interesting device. Nicely demo'ed by you (two)!
Absolutely beautiful ambient patch 🎶
Great video! Thanks for using our Halo cables!
Those cables are amazing!!!!!!!!
They’re awesome. A good reminder I have to get me some. 🍻
i go to your channel when crazy stuff like this drops :)
Thanks so much!
Great demo video!
Beyond sick.
Good video. You've got a unique style to your videos in a good way. I like it a lot.
Emily this video is amazing. You got some great sounds and sequences out of that box.
8:40 Nice sounds!
I'm a software developer who has worked on codebases with over 1 million lines, and I think this thing is too complex for me. 😅
This Harp Lady must be some kind of genius!
This one is so complex!
AMAZING!!!
Embrace the randomness would make a great T-shirt
It really would! Hope you’re doing well Sean!
I’m doing great! Hope you’re doing well also
I used to own 2 M32s before the rest of the family were a thing.
Great sounding, too expensive for what they did, but the filters were great. Now if I had have gone that route, it would have been an interesting affair, just the format did not suit my work flow.
Still I love that Moog have brought more of these out, they really do work well with each other, or other gear as you have shown.
Thx for the upload.
and all that sound like this:
MOOGCEPTION
More like Moogsploitation, amirite?
Nice. Your module collection is starting to get chunky :D
They should have a setup like this for background music at malls or Walmarts. Just put it out by the customer service desk and let people wander by and turn the knobs every once in a while.
Cheeky Moog making a West Coast Style synth
Thanks!
Looking for corrupt knob to prevent my being more random before noon...
Man I Love Filters
this is seriously cool and sounds like if there were a soundtrack for a vintage computing manual
good stuff
I agree with everyone else, you are the only pedal/synth RUclipsr I watch regularly
Whoa that's so cool 🤘🏽
Cool sequencer, like choosing from some preset meals with toppings / side dish options.
Modular is a dangerous game.
omg finally emily hopkins is doing more generative content this is what i wanted
Ayy, I'm commenting 'ere!
"Gonna run it through this pedal"
Looks cool. I check price.
*Pedal costs more than my entire car*
Excellent
It looks so cool, and its actually affordable. Moog!
Moogsploitation
Is it possible to do triplets with this sequencer? BTW great presentation!
Thanks so much! You can set the sequencers to have three steps, or mess with the accents enough that it can feel like triplets! I’m sure with some patching, it’s possible as well. Let me think about this for a bit!
@@emilyharpist2 thanks. i love 12/8.
epic
No u
Who needs AI to generate music when we have cool equipment like this. Great demo. You should do something with Sam Battle
It's so nice that you have your very own hand model / stunt hand to do the manual labor for you!
😂
This one slaps even harder than usual
behringer released the Syncussion SY-1, not too long ago.
I am mooging to this so people think i can play instruments
I just thought of it, but I havn't much thought into the how of it ....but a MIDI output on a Harp, that would be a trip to pull off.
I would have to study guitar to MIDI pickups and electronics. but I think one would start with a piezo under each string, to circuitry to convert to MIDI on/off and velocity.
( but really, there are probably enough MIDI controllers for anyone to adapt to already ......and doing harp would be way worse for all the strings )
Moog EDIT; oh, sequence randomize .. a little better than 8 / 16 step then
Extremely #welldone ...one of the better reviews out there
She's like the anthony fantano of things I can't afford.
Moog Mavis KIT !!! ...I stopped by the website, and Moog has a semi-modular KIT!!
single saw square morph oscillator with pwm ... but it has a wave folder ... looks like minimal assembly, sort of pop together with no soldering.
The font seem to indicate so
how much 1000 usd?
599 I think
good
I would get a Korg SQ-64 .... I mean 16 steps is not enough, honestly .... for some CV destinations, sure 8 or 16...but it's just ridiculous being that limited overall.
the SQ-64 has CV outs, and MIDI...so you can sequence anything with one.
i got this badge i was like oh baby
Yummy
Wondering Why?! Patch cables arent yet made with twice extra length wires with (safety tough secured ends) and_ Wrapped Around an Elastic Core'_ While Covered in Elastic Fabric'_ So to Literally Stretch 'Maybe' up to Twice as Long in reach? To Eliminate all the Extra Slack in the Cables?!'
As someone who has used plugins all my life, I was used to listening to synths in my DAW. But when I played a Moog bass synth my grandpa had, it was insane how "alive" it felt! It's like the sound was ACTUALLY in the room. Since then, Ive always enjoyed people who use physical synths in their music
I tell you s little trick: connect your damn computer to proper speakers…8”..12” studio monitor. Voila: suddenly playing soft synth will feel alive as if it’s in the room.
@@andybond5002 k
Compact standalone device doing everything i spent about 25 K on Eurorack for these last years.
Its so nice wish i had the money
Sounds like The Smile minus Thom Yorke.
I can do this on ‘music software’ Audiotool, and Caustic. Both are free music software. But. Does this ‘hardware’ sound better? Probably yes.
You can do this on a lot of different software! The workflow and CV connectivity is really what makes it special
do a video of you putting together a Moog Mavis.
this is better than pedals, I have all my pedals now ... even though i am mainly a guitarist, I am more known as a synthesist yet. EDIT: k, I am subbed for the synths.
Someone hacked the Lynn Drum Machine because it was weird enough for the nineties?! I don't know. Namastè.
You can turn your $600 synth sound like to a $50 junk with only $399 by LOSSY pedal.
*Not a real moog pedal.
Is this that bad music Rick Beato was talking about?
No … this isn’t even music …
Yes
No, that’s mainstream, corporate, derivative pop. Businessmen harnessing technology to sell mediocre sh!t to the masses, while wresting control from actual artists.
Don't you think that all of those cords can be very chaotic?
What English sounds like to people who don't speak English; not a musician
Question... is this sponsored by Moog? Also... are you a shill and do you have any credits on successful projects/ songs?
NOT THE FIRST POST!!
Another paid review 👎🥸
This isn’t a review
Its still a purely chinese made moog tho, propably not even made my moog engineers anymore.
RIP moog
you're like loopop with a harp
Haha there was no harp in this video!
@@emilyharpist2 did you just try to Jedimindtrick me? I see 2...
@@AFNacapellahaha I meant that no harps were played in the video!
It's just too bad that I make pure trash music and no amount of gear will make it better.
Its a no from me dawg
Im just not feeling this unit at all, and ive seen loads of demos at this point.
I'm completely burned out on all these influencer videos, by so many of you guys. Sorry, just needs to be said. . 🙄
Yet here you are watching them?
@@dankeplace the algorithm is strong
@@dankeplace Unfortunately I only got a short distance in. Emily can tell ya, I'm only rarely around here. I used to watch many peoples videos about new gear, including hers, always. I also frequently showed up for her streams, and sent my share of super chats. This isn't an attack on anyone, so, no need to come here and try to embarrass me. You won't. I'm burned out on these kind of videos, in general. And often, until recently, they would provoke my GAS. Then, while I should have been learning great ways to use much of my newer gear, I was still hunting for more new and fun gear. I don't need to buy more gear, atm, and watching this stuff sometimes just makes me impulse spend on yet more new gear, when it's probably not the best decision at that moment.. I make music with electronics, not purchase gear professionally. I want to see more videos from folks like Emily that dig deeper in the work, not forever be introducing brand-new hardware, like it's just an advertisement for a manufacturer's new piece of hardware. What's most tiring, is seeing the same big set of YT gear influencers all releasing videos about the exact same piece of new gear, all within a day or two. Now, when not working on music, I like to watch others work on music, or teach us something special about music/gear history. Like many of Dr. Mix, Anthony Marinelli, Alex Ball, and others more often do, over selling us on a new tool. They all do that too, but it's mostly just on occasion, instead of frequently.
@@DetroitMicroSound Lots of words, no one tried to embarrass you, you did that all by yourself.
Don't like something, go find something you do.
Great video✨always enjoy your content. Seen a bunch of vids on this And have come to conclusion not digging the labyrinth. Think it sounds weak and not very exciting compared to all their other stuff. Been waiting for the Muse hoping it’s amazing.
Much shill! Such brave unreal!! 😊
Kieren Kry Moore.
Excellent work, and a very interesting review. I can't think why anyone would buy one except from marketing pressure. It's clearly a load of sh*t. Anyone remember the Circuit Bent period of synthesis? Like when sh*t synths cost $5 and you had fun screwing them up with resistors and capacitors? This is almost a hoax product surely?
You said drum sounds. I heard fart sounds... Seriously, this ain't Moogs brightest moment. I understand making content, but If it was me I would have to say no thanks. Can't do it.
West Coast synth isn’t for everyone! This one’s actually tied for my favorite 60HP Moog (with DFAM) and I was real happy to make the video
@emilyharpist2 Oh, I am a subbed viewer, love everything about your vids, your quirkyness that is so genuine and unabashed. Absolutely one of my faves on YTube. I too have the DFAM, MOTHER 32 AND THE SUBHARMONICON... ANYWAY TO EACH HIS OWN. WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS USED IN A COMPOSITION. ALLTHE BEST TO YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL. APOLOGIES IF I CAME ACROSS TOO NEGATIVELY.
It’s not so much that it’s generative or WC, it’s that the tone/filters sound weak/garbage. Just an opinion. Maybe it sounds great, by ‘modern (semi-)modular standards’.
@@kierenmoore3236 it's still better than anything you have produced.
I'll never understand bleep bleep blorp synth people... But I'd hook it up to a keyboard and probably have fun with it!
I bleep bleep blorp because it's fun. I never developed the skill to keyboard but I can still be creative and make music with what is essentially stacked patterns.
I understand this. I love synthesizers-always have. But I can’t play keyboard worth crap. I’ve found, though, that I’m a decent enough iPad player (using Logic Pro’s play surfaces, or that really cool one that Animoog uses) and with a DAW there to let me fix my mistakes quickly, I’ve found I can create some reasonable facsimile of music.
Still, it always amazes me to see a couple cases of synths, effects, and such making actual music *without* someone playing notes on a keyboard or something else that looks like a musical instrument.
Also, I love how good this setup *looks* with the light up patch cables and some of the modules lighting up too. It makes me think back to Keith Emerson’s massive wall of a synth, and how impressive it looks, and how much more impressive it would have if it lit up along with the music he was playing on it.
Not feeling this one. Sounds pretty meh
