Great video but some slight inaccuracies. 458501 - 458530 were always a class 458 the one you pictured saying was a 460 in the process of being converted was in fact an original 458/0. They were 4 coaches in length and didn’t have the fixed gangways you see on the 458/5 and the 458/0 was also geared for 100mph operation originally.
There were just 8 Class 460s. As part of the 458 project, 6 of these would be reduced to 5 car trains and have their cab ends remodelled. The remaining carriages removed from these 6 units plus the 2 complete units would be used to insert one extra carriage into the 458s. As part of the work the 458s would have a fixed gangway added to the cab end.
As such the original 458s became 458501 - 458530 and each had one extra carriage. Whilst 458531 - 458536 were the converted 460s.
The ex 460s and indeed the inserted carriages on the old 458s which came from 460s are easily identifiable as they have different windows and a different roof. Next time you see 458501 - 458030 look out for the one carriage that has the different windows - that’s the but that was inserted from the 460. Equally you’ll see that 458531 - 536 have different windows to the rest of the class because in their entirety they were 460s.
It’s not over for the 458 though - as you are most likely aware they are being converted again for use on the mainline to Bournemouth and Portsmouth. This will see the 458s go back to 4 coaches (I assume they will lose the coach gained from the 460), they will be re-geared for 100mph operations and receive a refit inside and out. The indication is that only 26 or 28 will go through this work - which means 8 or 10 units could be redundant. A fleet of that size will likely struggle to find a new home if that’s the case - so there’s a chance the original 460s could be withdrawn and scrapped unless SWR modify plans to redo all 36 units. An alternative is to create longer trains like the 460s were from the remaining fleet which will require substantial work but could hypothetically create 8 - 10 long trains (say 10 car units) the issue will be that they’ll need to add motors in order to get half decent power and acceleration - not an impossibility but it would need a big commitment from a TOC for the type. I can’t see that happening seeing as the units are over 20 years old. In my view the best option would be to convert all 36 for mainline use and have a little extra capacity seeing as the whole idea of shortening them is to allow 3 to run in multiple to create 12 car trains - so keeping the 8 - 10 extra units could be helpful as that gives them more fleet flexibility.
    Anyway hope this helps 🙂

The 460s live on in the form of 458530-536
If you ride any of those 6 458s, you may be on a 460, and not notice that

1:38 that is Platform 5 at Reading, not Clapham Junction. Platforms 4-6 inclusive have a 3rd rail so SWR can use and only use Platforms 4-6 inclusive at Reading. However, there is a Sunday only service between Reading and Salisbury via Basingstoke that uses Platform 1 at Reading

SWR are scrapping the 458s. The Class 701 will replace the Class 455, 456, 458 and 707. The 455s and 456s are too old so they will be scrapped. The Class 458 will also be scrapped as no operator wants them. The Class 707 will move to SouthEastern and operate SouthEastern services
