UK Woodland Hammock Camping | Cooking Over A Dakota Fire Hole | Flint And Steel Fire

  • In this video I head off to a fairly local woodland, where I set up my DD Superlight Frontline Hammock and attached an American Poncho Liner as a summer underquilt.
I also dug a Dakota Fire Hole in an effort to lower my profile, which I lighted using my flint and steel to ignite a tinder bundle of dead pine needles.
I cooked up a tin of chilli with some Mexican spicy rice and for breakfast, one of my favourite camping foods; bacon and eggs.
I Hope that you enjoy the video and if so please don't forget to give it a like, share or even consider subscribing, if you are new to the channel.
Many thanks as always everyone, for all of your support.
    Cheers, J.

Ok China. That's me all up to date on your vids and channel. It's a yes from me, new sub and enjoying the content. Great to see an old school bushman channel again, not an excuse for prop or merchandise marketing or a million ways to cook on a sodding rock or how to build yet another bush shelter. This is a proper bushman channel, no BS and practical. Looking forward to following your journey. Well done for all the work hitherto. Now, I will sound like a thicky but I don't know the reason, so ill ask the question. These Dakota pits, whats the reason for them?, low signature, sneaky beaky camping or slow fuel burning or what?. Scoff was epic as usual. Cheers china, check you.

Ah! Moose. What a wonderful comment. Like I said, it really means a lot to me. Cheers bro. You basically answered your own question regarding the Dakota fire hole. They are very efficient at burning a limited amount of fuel and do offer a more stealthy option for having a campfire, which is why I chose to do one for this location. I've really enjoyed chatting with you today mate and hopefully I'll look forward to more in the future. Take care buddy and I hope that your fighting fit again soon. Cheers, J 🍻👍.

Hey bud, that dakota fire hole is great for cooking over eh, especially bacon and eggs & rolls for breakfast, good setup again, I like the triangle shape for the tarp setup. Love the sandy banks with deer tracks and other animals. Hp sauce versus tomato...who wins...

Hi Chris, the Dakota fire hole worked a treat 🔥. I saw 4 or 5 deer race through one of the wheat fields but unfortunately the gopro just isn't up to the job for capturing any decent footage of the wildlife. Red or brown, now there's a conundrum. If I were pushed into choosing, it would have to be brown for bacon and red for sausages. I'm a bit complicated like that 🤪🤪. Many thanks, as always buddy. Cheers, J 👍.

All good stuff there Mukka. Any particular reason you swapped out the grill stand for wooden slats? I have the same reluctance with my local streams as too many Pesticides, Nitrates and Nitrites running off the fields into the water source. I'm down in the Rhodope Mountains at the moment, not far from the Greek Border where Bears and Wolves still roam (I ain't seen any), but the water just bubbles up out of the ground and is cold and clean to drink without any preparation. Very diplomatic with having both a Red & Brown ketchups on your Banjo's. Stops a lot of debate and argument amongst the Troops does that. 😉👍🤷‍♂️😁

The mountain range where you are looks absolutely stunning. Are you camping out? Ah! the old red or brown debate. Always guaranteed to create a conversation. Luckily I genuinely enjoy both.
