iphone screen lifting/separating - cause & fix

- This occurs with all models of iPhone. You may see it happen on one side, it may cause your screen to crack, flicker, go black and even randomly turn off. It is one of the most common issues that I see and the cause in most cases is from the battery.
Common situations:
- Screen is popping up or off
- battery lifting iphone screen
- LCD has flickers and you have to push it down
- the corners of the iphone screen keep popping out
- the phone does not even turn on anymore
- the screen has a bend and or is cracked
The longer you use your iPhone the higher the chance of this is occurring and most importantly it will get worse.

For me guys, it was covered by my warrantee of Apple. At the time I was not living in my home country, but in South-Korea, I just went to their local Apple Store and they gave me a new phone.

So I have an iPhone 5se and my problem is that on both the right and left sides of my screen when I’m hold it like normal have white lines of light on the edges right around the middle on both sides how do I fix this if the screen is slowly peeling away from the right side more than the left?
Good to know. I just noticed my iPhone 4s rear panel is separating. Still works perfectly. I don't use it much but would like to keep it operating as a backup, and with my old Wahoo ANT+ adapter for indoor bike trainer sessions. I'll find a local shop to replace the battery.

I have a Huawei, but my screen is also popping off a little from the left... Not just apple
Probably worth mentioning if its not the battery - you need to unplug the battery before doing anything. I short circuited my phone and killed it because I didn't disconnect the battery
my screen started falling off AFTER the battery was changed ;(( also, i can't even turn it on anymore and yesterday (when i was still able to use it) it would always show me different colors on the screen (like green instead of pink and etc) is there any other way to fix it or turn the phone on? because i don't think my dad will replace the battery again ;( he might just give up on my phone or smth

My xr is separating from the body near power/sleep wake button. I’ve seen this before. If you press on the lifted part, it squish’s back in. But sticks out enough to ditch Apple. Phone is a week old never dropped.

mine too. dropped my phone once and it shattered. got it fixed, then a week later my screen is separating and one side of my phone doesn't even work.

I think it’s the battery issue on the iPhone 6
One day my screen slightly separated from the left horizontal side when I took my silicone case off. I no longer use a case. It can be snapped back in place but continues to occasionally separate especially when I take it out of my pants pocket.

What if it’s a brand new phone though? I have the iPhone 12 and the wind ended up knocking it out the window denting the bottom, I took it to apple and they fixed it and no issues my end have happened, my screen just started separating and now I can’t use my phone due to the constant restarting that my phone is doing
Every time I get a new iPhone my screen is popping off. Like about 6 months ago my screen popped off and spent more than 120$ just to fix it. Now it’s starting to pop off again

My phone is the same, it fully turned off about a month or two ago and had to try an in orthodox method to try and turn it back on all in all I turned back on but the phone screen is still lifting, hopefully you found a solution :3

Mine’s bulging up on the right side, all the way to the top, and a little bit down the left side. I panicked for a while. Figured the battery needs a replacement because battery life kept getting shorter. And I drop it a couple times, face down😅😅

I just bought a renewed iPhone X everything works but the screen it’s border isn’t smooth it’s kinda out about the width of a finger nail and it’s edges are straight like not smooth like a edge.
I was wondering why my iphone 5s screen was popping out at the top, long story short, bought a $20 battery replacement, it lasted 2-3 months, now it doesn't hold a charge and judging by this video and opening it up, the battery has indeed expanded quite a bit, time to send some angry emails

guys i have a 4s and i lifted the screen by a card paper same as the 6s style ...the phone was on ..and i saw the screen doing whitee color...than the phone turned off and never turns on again & i didnt know what happen? do you know whats the problem guys ?
I’ve got a 6th generation iPod touch where the screen is starting to bulge or bow. I can well understand it being an issue with the battery, but I’ve had my iPod since Christmas 2015, so I am wondering how much of it could be down to wear and tear, seeing as I have had it for over five and a half years.

Been encountered this issue since the 4s along with the 5s, 6s, 8 and even the X. Even on the X I noticed it after two hours of usage after purchasing it because I was setting up everything. The phone got really hot and I think that’s why I started to become loose. They should make a iPhone made out of completely steel or something lol.

I am always seeing ones for Apple phones, but I never see any for Android devices besides screen replacements. I have an Oppo A52 and I have noticed that my screen is slowly beginning to pop off from the top end of my phone. When I push it back to where it usually would be, I notice a slight bulge just above the volume buttons. From other videos I saw on the A52, the battery barely goes to where the top of the volume buttons so I am not quite sure what this occurrence is.
Although this is for Apple, would this also happen to apply to Android?

@@KaRa-yj3tr I have not yet unfortunately, if it isn't the battery, it may be a component in the phone which heats up too much causing it to expand...Or I may have dropped it which caused the screen to begin coming off (I haven't dropped my phone)

I just replace my screen and I can't close my screen at all.
As a consumer, I have been in close touch with about 8 iphones over the years, 2 of them had this problem. This video looks _exactly_ as my iphone - separating in upper left corner.
you should show u how to replaced to battery and also put the screen back on the case, do we need glue to do that?
Just dropped my 8 and the two bottom corners are separating..
It’s even more disappointing because my battery charge is still fantastic! And this is with a 1st gen ipad pro... but it’s lifting more and more on the left side

This happened to me and I think it’s cause I play to much Plane crazy and when it laggs I hit my phone and the little plastic surround cracked and I see white light Comming from inside my phone :|
Tip: If your Iphone is starting to separate. Cooldown your phone if it’s hot, just don’t use it for a while.

Charles Luciano I would say it is the battery. The same thing has happened to my 9.7” iPad Pro that is almost 3 years old. I am now wondering if I should pay for a repair, or put that money towards a new iPad.

It's going to get worse! and it's dangerous. Apple will replace it for the price of the battery $50 bucks, go in they did for me today.

There are replacement shells available in the market, especially in China. I bought one for my iPhone 8, fits perfectly.
i have an android, so this prolly doesnt apply, but its still lifted a little. theres no issue with the battery (my phone was at 100 at 5 AM and its at 84 rn, aka 3 PM) but i play genshin so it gets hot most of the time. I have a small phone fan though so it never gets too hot
ok so i believe my LCD screen is broken because my phone has recently started to black out & it's become very consistent now and it refuses to turn on anymore .

The reason why mine pops out is because it fell and now it won’t pop back in but that happened to my previous iPhone 7 my new one I actually managed to put it back in without it falling out

My I Phone 6S, has the screen separating from the bottom going up. At the very
bottom it's OK, then gradually on an angle starts to separate more and more as
you move toward the top of the casing where it's separated more than 1/4 inch ?
Suprisingly the phone still works, like to save it, as I'm happy with my Iphone 6s
and I don't like changing things. Anyone have any advice. Never dropped, and
not near heat or water, and was lying on my couch "unused" for 6 months, then I
picked it up to see my screen is separated. Maybe like this skilled tech says, it's

Don't do this as it is DANGEROUS!!! Thank you for explaining what was wrong with my phone. I thought I'd do this job myself but found out it was only $50. For Apple to change the battery even though it wasn't under warranty anymore. Then they said it was DANGEROUS!!! to open it up when the battery was expanded and they wouldn't be able to do the work so for the price of the battery, that's $50 bucks they replaced my 2-year-old & plus with a New one. Thank you, Apple!
