Tommy James should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. There are a lot of members who haven’t accomplished as much as Tommy has.

Totally agree. I 'm actually just discovering who he is. I know the songs, but the name may be the problem. Not a super unique name.

This guy doesn't get the credit or the respect he and his band deserve, they were great yet none of the so called "classic rock" stations even acknowledge him or his contributions, but the fans know how great he was/is!

@@kingslegion1 Read the statement again, I said he doesn't get the credit that he deserves from classic rock radio stations, when was the last time you heard any station playing his music? I know the fans dug him, I'm pushing 60 so I was right there too, but sadly he doesn't get the credit that he deserves anymore except from the fans.

1968~ Tommy walked in to Kmart asking for a pair of tennis shoes
I fit him into a pair he liked.
Then he asked where he and his band could soend the night , they still had a long road trip ahead to new york. I said sure my apt is right up the street.
So they rolled over , spent half the night jamming on guitars and hit the road in the am

I don't think Tommy James ever wrote a bad song, so how is it that he isn't inducted into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame yet??
Everytime a radio station plays 1 of his songs, it gets everyone singin and a groovin, not to mention how TJ's songs (especially Mony Mony) make you feel sooo Young again...
Thank You Tommy James and the Shondells for making some awesome and greatest music of all time!
I think it's high time I write to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and mention Tommy James and his Shondells and hope that they will see how Great Tommy's songs are and finally induct him into the Rock and Roll Music Hall of Fame...

    • @moonytheloony6516
      @moonytheloony6516 Год назад +2

I understand your enthusiasm but him not being in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame really doesn't matter.
      Hear me out...
There's a lot of musicians who have provided their opinion about getting inducted and it's not all it's cracked up to be, this is known fact about that HOF.
It's a strange HOF anyway. They induct Jazz musicians, RAP, C & W....it's weird and the inductees are clearly not always Rock artist, so I don't get it. It would be like the NFL Hall of Fame inducting Hank Aaron...but i digress.
The HOF is a very superficial accolade. Awards are rather superficial. Elvis in his lifetime won 2 or 3 Grammy Awards...2 or 3 for probably the greatest single music talent to ever walk across the American stage. And if you think he wasn't the greatest, he was certainly the most impactful if not the most influential. Good luck finding a corner of the world who does not know who he is....
Two Grammys. That's it, and it does not matter.
My point is this, induction is an award, and we like to see the artists we enjoy get recognition that they earned l, so I do get what you're saying, but that's not why they're artists, is it?
      Not at all.
They record for people to listen which is what you are doing right here. Every generation discovers Tommy James, and Elvis, and Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC and KISS and Johnny Rivers and Johnny Cash and whoever....the genre matters not.
Their music is what re-introduces them to every generation, long after they're dead, not the awards or inductions. That's not why any of them came here. They came to play and the played well..and we gathered a listened.
Or in the case of the Beatles, we screamed, cried and fainted but I digress yet again.
If it means that much to you (it really shouldn't) then have at it but the reward you're really enjoying, the one that matters, the award or really the reward you've enjoyed, is the same one you've been enjoying since you can first remember the very first time you heard Tommy James, or Santana or anyone....you can keep returning to that moment as many times as you wish, for as long as your alive, and listen to their music as if it was the hat yesterday a long time ago, and I promise you that deep down, means much more to any musician than an award or an induction because awards and inductions don't listen to their recordings or share them to new generations.
The trophies can be nice but the relevance with each generation is what makes them immortal, and that's the greatest award of all time.

I discovered this song (and a lot of music from my parents and older sister) on one of those K-tel greatest hits albums in the mid-70s. I’d sit downstairs on our yellow shag carpet next to our stereo. Headphones on. Turntable spinning a black, slightly wobbly, shiny disk. Something to watch when my eyes weren’t closed. Simpler times. Great music and great memories. I keep this song and quite a few others from this era on my active playlists just to take me back. This one in particular has such a cool vibe and I never skip it.

This was one of my favorite songs when I was really young my brother had a crappy old radio with an 8 track player and he taught me the words to so many songs and this was one of them. Some of that faded away as I got older, years and years later when I was in High School I was in the Movies to see Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead and this song kept playing in it and it all came back to me. Now it’s almost 30 years from that my brother is dead in a shipwreck in Hurricane Joaquin and I’m showing this to my daughter on RUclips. It’s kind of funny, No matter where you go there you are.

Yeah, I remember this song! I have such great memories, out on the sandbar, under the bridge and shagging the drag to raise enough money to get a keg of PBR. We'd make bathtub punch sometimes, & like Kid Rock said " trying different things, smoking funny things & drinking Whiskey from the bottle" ❤️🤠 MEMORIES OF HIGH SCHOOL DAYS ❤️🤠
